Lee, Daniel and Ben were certainly the front runners at this point as far as acting was concerned, but unlike Lee and Daniel, Ben lacked the vocal strength and consistency and struggled to take criticism. Keith had the voice, but lacked the acting chops, Craig had a decent voice, but he was up against much stronger singers, and he also lacked in the acting department. Rob was raw (though not as raw as was made out - he had done a Performing Arts course and was heavily involved in Am Dram) and Lewis had potential but wasn't quite there yet. FWIW, if I'd been ALW, I'd have saved Rob in that sing-off.
Great analysis. I don’t think Ben got enough credit for his acting, it was more his tuning that let him down, plus he argued with the panel a couple of times. To be honest, I find Craig’s presence in these shows to be quite annoying. Apart from this show, he just never seemed to improve. I always felt bad for Rob because the songs he was given never really gave him the chance to really show his acting skills which I’m certain he had. I am glad we got to see more of Lewis though because he improved tremendously in the final. Daniel and Lee were definitely the pros who knew exactly what they doing. :-)
The acting class was...er...class! Lewis (to Craig) - "Do you like hospital food?" and the shot of Lee's reaction! Ben (to Lee) - "What I don't like is the fact that you think you've won!" Watching that back amuses me every time, given that Lee did go on to win the thing! Ben going for the physical approach in the "Guards! Seize him!" bit, whilst Lee managed to scare the bejesus out of the others just by shouting at them! Meanwhile, Craig managed a half-hearted shove that didn't scare anyone!
I have done portraits of lee and craig (chalmers). I met craig after a show in Swindon. I hope to buy a replica Joseph coat off e-bay. Ace show.love it to bits. I voted for lee.
Personally if that was me in that sports day I'd not have let him go he's so fit and cute as I've said before love him wish i could meet you personally
