- On this episode, joined by Fishing Grubbz, we had the privilege of joining Jennifer in the search for her grandfather, Guy Pyke. Toughest Cold Case To Date ||Searching 5 Days For Guy Pyke Guy went missing on April 2nd, 1999 with vague information surrounding his disappearance.
It is said that Guy left his home in Syracuse, NY to head to a hobby store in Watertown, where he was going to get supplies for the model helicopter he was building. It is uncertain if he made it to the store, but he was seen in his 1989 Chevrolet Blazer, pulling out of his cousin’s driveway in Calcium and heading north on Route 11. That was the last confirmed sighting of Guy and his vehicle.
We spent 5 days searching and even with blockages, we were able to search many bodies of water.
On our first day, we met Jennifer at Onondaga Lake and found out the significance of the area to her grandpa. We were able to clear the entire lake, a portion on the Seneca River, and Onondaga Creek. Even not finding Guy, his granddaughter felt at ease and that she can pass the lake and no longer have an ache in her heart wondering if that is where her grandfather is.
Day 2 was long and exhausting, but hearing the love that Jennifer had for her grandpa made it all worth it. We headed out to Oneida Lake, where we had a few specific areas around the large lake. We put in at the Oneida Lake South Shore Fishing Access Site and made our way to Sylvan Beach. This area was where Mr. Pyke’s family had gathered in the past and a place he was familiar with. We searched Fish Creek, where cars had been removed from in the past. After clearing that end of Oneida Lake, we headed to the opposite end to sonar a portion of the Oneida River. Once again, clear of any vehicles.
As day three came to light, we intended on searching the Black River, but with the heavy rainfall that had taken place in the previous days, we were prohibited due to the swift waters and rapids. We turned our attention to the Indian River, where a small, accessible boat ramp was hidden behind the city’s public works building. We gained permission to use it so Todd and Jacob ventured out to search the river. The Indian River was surprisingly deep, up to 20 feet in some areas. Clearing all the way to Coolidge Road, where the bridge was too low for them to clear. Returning to the boat ramp, we headed to Old Route 11, which is now a parking area off the highway. We were able to access the Indian River from the Coolidge Road bridge to the Pleasant Road bridge with the Lil’ Buddy.
Day 4 would prove to be are hardest day as we took on the St. Lawrence River. We traveled from Cape Vincent all the way to Collins Landing, riding the shoreline, paying special attention to the cliff areas. After we confirmed there were no vehicles there, we went out around 1,000 Islands and under the bridge that crosses right before the US meets Canada. In the middle of the islands, there are waves coming from every direction and we all felt battered and bruised when the day was over.
Our final day spent with Jennifer on the search for her grandfather was spent clearing several large areas of concern. We entered the water, first, at Henderson Bay and made our way to the Black River Bay. Once we entered the bay, Todd assisted with navigating through the shallow waters to get us into the mouth of the bay. We then sonared the area of the Black River up to the first boat ramp on the Black River. Clearing another area, we pulled out the boat and headed back to Mexico State Park and began clearing the Little Salmon River. We then headed out to Mexico Bay and across to the Salmon River and into Mud Creek.
While it was incredibly frustrating to not be able to find Mr. Pyke, we cleared many areas of concern for Jennifer in searching for her grandfather. We plan to return to the area and continue to search for Mr. Pyke at a later time and locations have already been marked for our next search.

@@mandamorris7934 thank you so much! A couple of decades ago I was trying to come up with something I could say as a Wiccan HPS that would apply to everyone. Regardless of religion, regardless of their feelings about the person. I’ve had someone start to argue that they had no memories of love and then realize that was okay. I wasn’t asking them to mourn, I was saying hey, if you love someone, you’ll have all your good memories to remember them by.

Black River Bay sounds similar to Astoria OR. Really dangerous. Be careful. At certain points I wasn't sure you were moving forward.

There’s that possibility, but with it being such a large vehicle, we should be able to make it out still.

There wouldn’t be much on the River very few fishing holes even fewer to drive up to Oneida toward Oneida shores best bet as well as Oneida river there’s a lot of fishing holes that are drive up spots

You guys do a great job looking for Mr.pyke and others but I have a question for you. I was watching you guys today and you always check close to the coastline, how come you don't check deeper in the waters cause if a car or truck goes into the water and windows are up the car or truck could possibly drift deeper in the lakes, but today you were driving the boat real fast without sonar. Shouldn't you go slower in the middle deep using sonar?
We were going to different locations in the video… we had so much film I wanted to show the whole video in one episode… it would have been like 2 hours. And yes we were driving way to fast for sonar we are aware… we have brought home 17 people in the past 2 years with our experience.

If the river is excessively high right now, is it possible that you’re scanning too close to where the shoreline is now ?
We were scanning 70-75 feet each way. So, approximately 140-150 feet from shore.
I'm queasy just watching you guys rocking in the water. When I see so much foliage, I hope y'all watch out for poison ivy.

The vest looking thing that Lindsay has on is a life jacket. It inflates in an emergency when needed. I don't know exactly how to explain it though.
You do an amazing job, but i always feel scared watching when you are in the boat and you dont have life jackets on xxx please please be safe

Try 3 rivers area it’s mega deep cut out for barge travel lots of drive off spots
There was so much you missed closer to his home 24 years changed a lot there’s a lot of drive to spots that not many know about toad harbor on Oneida lake you can drive right in just saying not that I’m telling you how to search but I’ve lived here 59 years and I’ve been in a lot of crazy places fishing
Always will take tips on places you know of...as his granddaughter I'm just going off of places I remember him being familiar with. Sadly 90% of the family has passed away that makes it tough especially trying to figure out childhood locations
@@jenniferwood7876 from pirates cove up thru 3 rivers there were many secret drives to the river to that were great fishing holes with great views
Also a lot from caughdenoy up to pirates cove schroopels bridge is another drive able lane and the river from lock 23 is very deep from the barge days on that river

Have you ever thought of bringing in a paranormal investigator that claims can converse with people who have passed? Maybe try it on a case that has you stumped. The investigator can ask the family that passed where they are located on a map then you can check it out.

I guess she didnt find jerrods search efforts good enough? He seemed to say that he could have possibly gone south instead of north since he mentioned florida at one point. And if he had dementia the early stages and with sun downing he could have gotten turned around and went south instead of north. Its obvious he never headed to canada at all. Good effort guys
There is so many bodies of water there. We will keep going back until he’s found or they’re all searched.

Funny how you search for Grandpa and all of a sudden old footage pops up (from September 2022 and a search from April is coming up) from another channel. Here I thought y’all were back and on the mend too with all the old videos that have been coming out. Great strategy, I’ll give him that, because it’s gaining him more subs. Pisses me off because he’s backing off of y’all. You’re who we want to see. You, and the others. Not him. Sorry not sorry. If this is inappropriate Lindsey, go ahead and delete.
