Managed to get my Reno finished last week before all the rain hit down here in Tassie, hoping for a couple of warmer days to kick the growth off a bit but the forecast isn't looking too great
I’m green with envy. I’m at the very end of my lawn care season here in fact tomorrow will probably be my last day on the lawn. Soon it’ll be under several inches of snow. You lawn looks amazing. Thanks for the vids and keeping my passion for lawn care going through our long winter months.
Lawn looks amazing. Inspiring me to leave the neighbours Kyk run through my SWB, without battle. Have you ever done annual $ per meter view (all your recommendations at RRP / area)?
Yo mate, I got the dethatching rake from Bunnings, worked well and have also aerated and top dressed. What do I need to do while I wait for the grass to grow back through.
Not a lot to be honest mate. Just let it grow back. Keep water up to it if you aren’t getting rain and then mow when it’s gets just above your desired cutting height
Hi Ben, thanks for your videos. They inspired me to aerate my SWB lawn on Sunday. Unfortunately, heavy rain hampered my efforts to clean up the cores and so I won't get to sand until this weekend. Just wondering once all the cores are removed would you recommend mowing again before levelling with the sand? Cheers
Looking unreal mate. Doing nothing but rain lately here as well. I have a question, I’ve just moved into a new house, back lawn is about 800sqm and is almost completely over run with crab grass. How do you get rid of established crab grass in such a large area ? Cheers
Where are your property boundaries? You cut a straight line at the right side of your house and the grass over there looks all ripped up and ragged @4:41 Also along with the area where you adjusted your reel mower @ 3:25 Why such a small renovation area when most of it looks like your entire yard?
Ben...be careful of that Chinese Toon...the pink leafed tree at the end of the house.....they sucker everywhere......I had to remove one and it took 9 months and I had to sift the soil.....leave 1 bit of root in the ground and it will start growing again. I know, I know nothing about lawns...but I have found feeding your Kikuyu too much tends to cause major issues of runners growing over each other causing a very spongy, thick lawn that tend to force your reel to start to ride on top of the lawn....forcing multiple scalps in a season.......I've found a low N feed, Spring and Fall suffices.....and stops that rapid growth.....I have also found it best not to water Kikuyu in the summer....let it go dormant if it gets too hot and dry....then dethatch after it starts to cool a bit at the end of Feb into March......with your fall feeding.....
Hi Ben, liking the channel , can’t wait for more progress on the fairways and golf green 👍🏻 What microphone are you using, or just using air pods as audio mic too ?
Hey mate, Thanks! I use a rode wireless go with a lav mic. You can see it on my shirt near the buttons. AirPods are just for audiobooks I listen to haha
Hey m8, excited to announce I've done my first lawn reno after watching your vids for years. I have one question that I can't remember if you've covered yet - Is it OK to still see some core holes after topdressing and watering? Or should I wait until dry and hit with a broom to completely fill up? Cheers man 💪
@@LawnTips phew, thanks. This project knocked me for six. The kids had to step in to finish and I'm in hospital on oxygen. Throwing the corer around on my own started it I reckon, then lugging 4T of the sand sealed it lol. Man, either you make it look simple or you're some kind of elite Russian cyborg 😅. At least I've got Saturdays episode to look forward to 👍🏻 win!
Hey mate, curious what's your preference with the john deere, do you like the tractor style or the zero turn better? I know both have pros and cons but just curious. Cheers mate
@@LawnTips I thought that'd be the case mate, I've got the tractor style at the moment but thinking of a zero turn but some of the places I need to get it I think the tractors stability definitely helps. Thanks mate 👍
I’m not sure if it’s just my tv But every one of your videos stuff up at some point and I have to go back and re watch because it freezes But it’s only your videos nothing else
Jealous. I reno'd my Sir Grange 2 weeks ago and have seen little to no progress. You couldn't have a channel based solely on Sir Grange Zoysia, you'd get 4 vids out a year lol
I'll never be a fan of Kik. Also didn't know you had an Accugage! You'll have to do a vid on how to use it and how to level the rear and front rollers to the bedknife etc
Can we stop and appreciate the use of the towel on the cylinder mower 🤝
Stunning
So good bro 👌🏼
👏👏👏
Nice Ben Simms.
Such great results.
First Aussie 😁. Ben , looking great . 😎
That looks so good. Trying to find a dry couple days to start my Reno. So much rain this year in aus
Looks awesome… Love schnitty making sure it’s OK 😂👍🏻
So weird seeing you wind up for the new season and i’m winding down for winter. Sadness in uk bro

Go back quite a few videos…
He had to run power down to the bore
Ben, what’s that pink tree in the background?
Chinese Toon
I observed you aerated your lawn after applying ur pre-emergent, won't it disrupt ur barrier?
Chatted about this in the pre-emergent video 👌🏽
Won’t have an impact which is great

Do you have an annual schedule for kik? i.e. what products to use in what months? Great channel by the way!
Hey mate, I sure do. These are the plans I have created here: lawntips.net/lawnplans/
good at grown grass but no good keeping your gutters clean
Kik the new alpha grass

Hey mate, curious what's your preference with the john deere, do you like the tractor style or the zero turn better? I know both have pros and cons but just curious. Cheers mate
Zero turn for me. I just find it more comfortable and easier to whip around the property
@@LawnTips cheers mate, what about on slopes etc? I've seen you use it a few times on them and seems ok
Personally haven’t found a lot of difference. But I do feel safer on the lawn tractor on a slope due to the weight being more evenly distributed

Is there lawn plans available yet for kik lawns? How much will it cost
Hey mate, had them out for a while. Here they are lawntips.net/lawnplans/
