Jason you're the best boxing coach on the internet, by far. The information you give out for free, for example this 40 (!) minute video is simply fantastic. We all can't thank you enough!
I'm glad that I am not the only boxer to strength train. A lot of other fights neglect it. strength and power training has made me a stronger, quicker and more explosive boxer.
Need more for female that is 50 an over an overweight that want to start boxing just to stay in shape this is really good boxing website it is helping me alot when the boxing coach don't have time to help me I have mad skills at my age at 51years old.
@@GeorgioArmoni when it comes to strength training in the 70s, people usually associated it with bodybuilding, because back then was the golden age of bodybuilding as well
this is just what I needed. I've been focused so much on technical training and cardio I mostly skip strength training. I need a good strength and endurance training routine. This helps a lot
Only 15 mins in and already I've gotten so much value from this! Before my mma training I always do passive stretching- glad I came across this vid! Cheers Z
Must've rewatched this vid about 4-5 times in last few years. Drop back in every time it pops up and there's always some bit of gold i'd forgotten about. Brilliant stuff Jason.
In summary, Warm up dynamically Isometric holds to activate the muscle groups. Some body weight exercises to build base strength (Pull ups, Dips, Push ups, Squats etc.) Key is the 8-12 reps. For strength, We can train to failure, for Power, we maintain the explosiveness throughout the exercises. Thank you both Sirs!
JT this is dope! I just became a certified NASM Personal Trainer. I also help coach my local Universities Boxing Team(certified USA boxing coach) I make many of your videos mandatory "Home Work" for our fighters. I have been watching your stuff for at least 2 years.. I've learned as much and sometimes more from your videos than I have in my 10 years in gyms. You are a true master of your craft! I'm 41 and wish you were local to my area to train me for my goal of a masters tournament in 2017 :-) Keep up the great work!
Man a lot of people think it's only boxercise to get good at fighting. Sprinting, lifts and plyometrics and good flexibility is what you need besides practice.
Jason I hope you read my comment. I am happy to see many people commenting positively on your videos. Your passion for the sport, your teaching ability and your nice character are truly admirable. I am very lucky that I found your channel. It must be a very nice feeling when your hard work is being appreciated by many people. Much respect and love from greece.
This is terrific. Recently my coach and I have been working on a lot of the drills. Having them organized like this is a great way to remember and reinforce.
Hey Jason! I remember once hearing you saying that one of the things that you learned to value late as a fighter was stretching! I'm HORRIBLE in flexibility and I just came to your channel to see if you have a stretching routine video, and YOU DON’T! I think it could be a nice addition. Thanks for so many HOURS of good advice and training, man! Love your channel!
Consider hot vinyasa yoga flow for your stretching and flexibility. People think it's easy and for girls but trust me its very very challenging. I've seen guys walk in and were humbled or not hack the heat or mental/ physical challenge and walk out after 30 minutes. I've been doing it for years. I can suggest 'flow with adee' YT channel'. Alternatively, gymnastic strength and animal flow training are very good too. I can recommend Vavha fitness YT channel.
I have been trying to find solid information on this matter for a quite a while now, but never came across anything solid. Thanks for doing this, man! It's truly appreciated.
Amazing video! Really happy that you provide with such quality work! It goes to show how much you care about your viewers and the sport! Very appreciated From a long time viewer of this channel

the warm ups was actually really good compare to your conditional stretching. I noticed a difference in my mobility and flexibility. I'll be incorporating this as my warm up now. Thanks coach!
It's really nice to see you put some focus on strength training. Many boxers i know and talked to have this idea that strength training is going to make them less powerful and slow for unfathomable some reason. I work as a trainer, and a few athletes from boxing background have actually refused to strength train, and just want to do the mit work and endless crunches.

nijowe93 Because muscle needs oxygen and late in the fight you don't want to gas out and lose because your opponent has less muscle and more cardio. Any boxer that's ever done more than 4 rounds of sparring knows that weights hurt you more than help you. Most knockouts in low level competition come because of fatigue. A fighter can get up and beat the count but they are so tired they decide to call it quits. Trust me late in a fight you want to have a cardio advantage more than a slight power advantage.
@@kdub9198 Improving strength doesn't mean you have to gain size. You can improve strength and keep weight at the same level if you still do your cardio and eat normally.
EE-Any form of resistance training creates a certain amount of mussel. More for some less for others. Even as a 53 year old, I develop mussel very easily. I find, swimming and dancing with reduced carbs (in normal foods) help produce more of a purposed and flexible build, with less mussel but still with strength.
My last Muay Thai instructor was totally against any weight training. That old school thought process needs to die. General strength power and speed training will benefit any athlete in any sport as long as it is supplementary and doesn't take away from skill and endurance work.
This was amazing. A definite eye opener and game changer for myself and my family. Thank you to the both of you for such an informative video! Both got a sub from me!
