    FAQ:
    Why ‘the religious hippie?’
    It was a nickname my friends gave me when I was in highschool because I dressed like a hippie and was a ‘wild child’, when I came back into my faith they thought ‘the religious hippie’ was now a more appropriate nickname and it stuck!
    Who is your favorite saint? Saint Francis of Assisi
    Where do you live? Chicago

    There are THOUSANDS of protestant churches. My sis left the faith, and I remember the times she said that one of the pastors left to start their own church but she was not going to follow that particular preacher
    🙄 So yes, there are thousands of these denominations

    • @sanjivjhangiani3243
      @sanjivjhangiani3243 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      There may well be thousands of Protestant denominations, but there are not anything like thirty thousand. That figure was created by counting the same denomination in multiple places as separate denominations. This is obviously absurd. A Lutheran from Minnesota might worship in a Lutheran church in Norway and consider himself in the same denomination, for example.

    • @StringofPearls55
      @StringofPearls55 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@sanjivjhangiani3243I hear what your saying but I also think there are thousands because they do split off and teach/preach their "own" thing. So you may have 7 Southern Baptist churches in one town, but they hold to different doctrines depending on the Pastor. (I just threw out Southern Baptists for example purposes, I don't know if that's a problem they have in their ranks).

    • @N1IA-4
      @N1IA-4 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@sanjivjhangiani3243 Even if one concedes the "thousands of denominations" claim, the issue of multiple (and often conflicting) interpretations on the Bible and sources of authority (and we all know there are way more than TWO Protestant groups) still plagues the Protestant no matter how much one sugar-coats it.

    • @alisterrebelo9013
      @alisterrebelo9013 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sanjivjhangiani3243 It appears that you miss the underlying point of invoking the reality of 'thousands of Protestant denominations'.
      This is an honest question - are you aware that the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox Churches all have the exact same 7 sacraments (though they might have slightly different terms for them) - Baptism (water), Communion (Eucharist), Confirmation (Chrismation), Confession, Marriage, Holy Orders (Priesthood) and Unction?
      The definition and limits of each Sacrament might vary, but the fact is that all of the Apostolic era Churches, bar none, all agree to the underlying theology of these.
      *What does this say about the Protestants denominations who deny one of more of these?*
      *It appears that the only Sacrament maintained valid by ALL Protestant denomination is Marriage.* Even Holy Orders is butchered to a point where any man and his mouse can declare themselves a 'pastor' on the basis that they can read and have an interpretation of the Bible.

    • @sanjivjhangiani3243
      @sanjivjhangiani3243 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alisterrebelo9013 No, I wasn't missing the point. I am willing to concede that the implications of there being many Protestant denominations with widely differing beliefs is a major problem for the Protestant position (which I don't hold, BTW; I am Catholic). I am just saying that it's not literally true to say that there are tens of thousands of Protestant denominations. That figure was obtained by counting the same denomination separately in different countries

    Regarding Trent's comment about the organ: The origins of the pipe organ can be traced back to the hydraulis in Ancient Greece, in the 3rd century BC. And the use of an organ in the church came before the reformation.The first organ of which any detailed record exists was built in Winchester Cathedral in the 10th century. They weren't introduced and used only during the period of the reformation. It was much before that. (Love you Trent, but sorry....I heard you comment on that and felt compelled to correct you. 🥴 )
    BTW - Trent Horn actually should write his own encyclopedia of knowledge - or perhaps together with Jimmy Akin. Those two just blow my mind. In a *good* way!

      Not all parish priests are trustworthy, some push a liberal agenda using their office as a cudgel. Look at the scandals and the liturgical abuses , the contempt for the laity in faith and resources as the most obvious examples of how the old fashioned trust your priests is not always wise.

    Young Catholic influencers on instagram who post pictures of themselves (sometimes multiple selfies in the same post!) and then put a random Catholic thought in the description are not worth anyone's time. They appear to be justifying selfies because there's "Catholic content" underneath. It comes across as incredibly self-absorbed and super cringe.

    Born in the early 80s so we are sometimes called xennials as in between Genx and Millennials. Our late teens and early 20s with dialup internet at generalized chat rooms or groups like AOL messenger and yahoo groups, we also created our own websites called geocities. In fact chat rooms here on TH-cam live were similar. Then Myspace came along and started to mix the 3. Myspace had a messenger app, and can customize profiles like a website. I miss those days.

    Definitely. I just started peeking into Twitter (X) more often, and most of the Catholic content on there is toxic and so negative. Some people seem to get addicted to doom and gloom, and sensationalize any and every scandal! I guess maybe even though it’s negative energy, its a form of excitement, and also a maybe way of getting attention and feeling like you’re part of a clique of like minded doom and gloomers? 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @PyraDraculea
      @PyraDraculea 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I assume she's referring to times during the Reformation when Catholic Mass was banned in places like England and heavily censured in Ireland by the British rulers.
      For example I've heard of things like the "Irish penal rosary" where it's just one decade with a ring on one end and you kept it and your hand in your pocket so as to not be seen praying it.
      That said, that all happened long ago so I'm not quite getting to connection to now... but I guess it could be cultural practises that were passed down, maybe?

    What’s the difference between Charismatic Catholics vs Roman Catholics?

    • @sanjivjhangiani3243
      @sanjivjhangiani3243 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      All charismatic Catholics are Roman Catholics , but not all Roman Catholics are charismatic Catholics. The Charismatic movement, within the Catholic Church, favors emphasizing the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and involves fairly emotional mass services. For the purpose of this answer, I am neither supporting nor opposing this movement, merely describing it.

    • @bluecomb5376
      @bluecomb5376 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No difference. Charismatic is an adjective to describe how some catholics choose to worship.

    I Love St John Cantius!!! I took my son there one Sunday for a totally random field trip, we live in South bend, and it was breathtaking ❤ I'm in 💯 agreement with you about beautiful church's. Especially if you're building a new church and intentionally make it look protestant. We just switched church's and I'm back at the church i grew up in, different building, the first church was in the basement of the convent/school. The new building is ugly and the blessed mother statue doesn't have a veil and the music has always sounded kind of barroom style? Anyways, never thought I'd be back, but my heart has been changed and I'm actually super grateful that our beautiful Catholic Church is willing to get into the trenches and really feed the poor in all regard. But I am grateful for the beautiful churches.

      @@TruthSeeker-333FS changes nothing. If a priest can bless an entire congregation, or a choir, or a brother and sister going on a trip, then certainly a couple in an irregular situation may have one as well. And it was an act of charity to the German bishops, showing them where the line is and clarifying what they can do. Those looking at this and teaching their children to look at this like you do, are not erring on the side of love. It is very uncharitable. Holy zeal would be better expressed in extra prayer, adoration and Mass. Not publicly detracting and dissenting from the one thing that God has given us Catholics that holds us together. You and the others are acting like a rebellious son running around the house slandering the father and telling them to move to the ape house next door. Haven't you noticed the enemies tactics yet? He loves to set up camp right next to God's people, all around, to the left, to the right, north, south, he even gets into our camp, he can look and talk like us, but you'll notice him in the pride. He can't stand to pretend to be humble for too long. You'll notice him in the division, divide and conquer is his best strategy. You'll notice him being among the loudest voices in the crowd, because he wants you listening to him instead of God, in prayer.
      If my reply is immodest, please forgive me.
