    Just rewatched! My McKenna has opened up some and gotten better. RR10yr always good! Just picked up a case of Eagle Rare no limit 28.00 each and a case of Blanton’s 50.00 each! Snagged a Stagg 23c yesterday at BevMo for a 72.00! Nice couple of days!!

    Sitting on 22 bottles of ER since I can get all day here at $32 and Russells 10 yr @$33...paid $50 for my McKenna's. Great review it comes down to preference. I will leave the Michters out of the review because of cost. Easy to get all in Florida.

    Another good 10yr option is the Rebel 10yr, which is also a single barrel but it’s a wheated Bourbon so it’s an interesting one for the mix. Pricier than the ER/RR10/HM but still much less than the M10

    In Massachusetts, Eagle Rare is pretty widely available, but often runs upwards of $40. But if you shop around, you can find it for $35-ish. I will buy it for $35, but no more.
    I am a huge fan of the Russel's single Barrel (and recently he limited 13 year), but have never actually tried the 10 year, since I usually skip over it for the Single Barrel.
    I was not impressed with my bottle of Henry McKenna. It was okay, but not what the awards made it out to be. It's also pretty available around me if you go to the right shops. I think a decent portion of my bottle ended up going into my infinity bottle.
    Haven't had the Michters for obvious reasons.

    • @TheBourbonWrench

    Hey people!! Keep right on sleeping on that Russells reserve 10 year........... more for me!
    Seriously, I bought my first Russells reserve about three years ago. Very very impressed with it. Finish it off and have to say it’s so easy to find more. The other three in your lineup, very solid, eagle rare somewhat more accessible for me here in Michigan, Henry McCanna and Michters are still ghost bottles. Cheers! Great review. BTW......101 is my daily go to

      I’m 6 months into bourbon and it’s one of my favorite. Just got single barrel today and it’s a slightly better but very similar. Henry McKenna is one of my favorites if not. But it’s a more of a butter scotch profile so hard to compare. Both good depending on what mood ur in

    Completely agree, however I've not had the Mckenna. Kept passing on it for no particular reason and now I never see it. I'll grab it next time I trip over it. I've never had a Michter's product I've enjoyed on any level. But that damn Russel's is just delicious.

  • @jasonc.5718
    @jasonc.5718 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Agree with you on M10 from 2020 that I had last year. It drank like a background easy sipper. And the trouble with expensive single barrels is they cost too much to roll the dice on again if you didn't like it the first time around. Maybe I had an off barrel but I'm not trying another at that price point.

    • @TheBourbonWrench

    Trev your reaction to Russell’s 10 was identical to ours here-verbatim. 😂 So stupid good for the money and such a low proof pour. Order here would be Russell’s 10 > HM10 > ER > M10 easy, for many reasons (price, availability, cinnamon presence, and funky twist).
    Have a M10 here BTW. We will never purchase another one even if it were half off. Ours is that bad.

      @TheBourbonWrench  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I REALLY struggled putting m10 second. I wanted to put it behind the McKenna. There are things I love about it, the price though REALLY hinders it though. Honestly I probably should’ve put it way lower. I guess like I said in the video, I placed them according to “well I already own it, so lemme go on taste alone”. The price just makes me mad, should be half the price if not less

Russells 10 is on the shelves all day every day.. well worth the 40$ it is a bit oakey musky though, so if you do not like that.. then there are others like WT Rare Bread or Tin Cup 10.. so many choices. Henry McKenna 10.. only seen it once in five years ... ALLOCATED..Michters 10 ALLOCATED.. never even seen one in ten years.

    I feel your pain on the availability of Eagle Rare, bought a bottle a few weeks ago at a store in NC for $35. After asking the clerk (a very nice elderly woman) about a some prices on a few items, I was about to leave when she asked "would you be interested in a bottle of Eagle Rare, its the last one we have (which was under the counter). Another store I frequent in SC had 1 bottle of ER priced at $125. I laughed at the clerk after inquiring, and instead bought a handle of WT for $37.

    Great review Trev & totally agree that Russell's 10 is a great bourbon for the price. It is readily available here in Oz and like most of the Wild Turkey products it is normally at a good price. I bought another bottle yesterday along with 101, can never have enough WT!! I have never seen McKenna's here and Michter's 10 is near impossible to find & if you can it is north of $200 crazy!!

    Thanks for putting out this video, Trev. I like these comparison videos. Great content. About a year ago Cline asked on a live stream to give him ideas about a video. I suggested this exact flight. I asked him if he could do videos comparing findable shelf bourbon compared to Limited bourbon. Then I said start off with a flight of Russels 10, Eagle Rare, Michters 10, and Henry McKenna and let us know if it's worth the price and time. So again, thank you and cheers. #suggittrev

    I have all 4 of these as well, they are all pretty good and your order with pricing in mind is how I also would have it and the 2018 M10. I have an unopened 2019 M10 which is rumored to be older than 10 years so I don't know yet how that would stand up. Price is ridiculous for the M10 but I tatered on that one :)

      I really struggled with how I wanted to rank it. It’s good, and I took in account that I already took the bait and own it hahaha. I would say, if you asked me “if you don’t any of these, rank them according to what you’d be willing to buy” the M10 would NOT be in second. It’s good, but I’d much rather it be half the price lol
