Great unboxing and review. Quick question, is the power adaptor also rated up to 240V? The pro model is not in sale where I live, but I want one and where I'm living we're on 240V euro-plug.
Thanks for the video. I've had Asus's latest WIFI routers for about the last dozen years or so, but recently went with TP-Link Deco Mesh 7. With Asus, I've always had occasional connection issues, not just with clients, but also with mesh units. My Sonos stuff always had a hard time with Asus. TP-Link just seems consistent and easy to setup and keep connected. My last Asus was the 6E mesh and I still had issues. I like the flexibility of Asus, but with a whole house of people, I don't want to deal with the screaming that the wifi is not working. So TP-Link it is.
Had the same problem with mit asus xt 8 - every firmwareupdate was a kind of black box, if its working or not. So i bought a deco be 85 and not the asus bq16 pro. Had to much fear ;-)
No problem. I have to look at the other numbers on the other systems, hands down though this is a great mesh system. I think in the wireless backhaul category, the BE95 is still King. I gotta look at the other categories. I will be doing a full review on the top of the line wifi 7 mesh systems to try and answer that question
Been following your videos. Do have 2GB Fiber at the moment. Biggest thing for me has been range and ensure the network can support over 100+ devices (TP Link Smart Home, SONOS, ect.) Currently have a Linksys AtlAS 6E Max but been disappointed witth its range and performance. Very Limited to for VPN, assigning IP's and overall find it unstable. Thinking this Asus might be enough but seems way over kill but love the fact it has 5 ports that are at least 2.5+
You need to add some features for next iPhone that is one of the feature in the next iPhone. But with apple's habit not sure if it will be no next one after the one after or the one after. usually apple waits for some years to add such features when consumers are already using it for many years and then suddenly introduce thus features which people have forgotten since that features is widely used and available everywhere people forgot about such features exist and all of a sudden apple brands it as a completely new technology, feature.
Apple is not necessarily doing it to be cheap... they are often constrained because they have to make a lot more phones than most other companies. So they can't use certain cutting edge new parts that may not be available yet in as wide of a supply.
one great thing about the asus bq16 pro is that it comes with AFC and MLO out of the box, while the others may not ship with AFC and MLO yet, and we’re not sure if they will update them through firmware updates in the future.
Tough decision, depends on the price really but I gottta look at the number for the BE85 to see how that did. I will be doing a comparison video so I’ll try to answer it than.
Really great video, I've been looking forward to this. :) Do you think that the BQ16 Pro will be ASUS’s WiFi 7 top-of-the-line successor to the WiFi 6E ET12? Or will there be a future update to ASUS’s WiFi 7 mesh lineup that performs even better than the BQ16 Pro?
that's a tough question, based on the specs, I'm going to say it's going to be top of the line since it's quad band and the speed rating is BE30000 but who knows?
Somehow the setup for me was cumbersome and it required firmware download etc. all fine but after firmware i got authentication failure. It was very frustrating and nothing worked. I reset everything and after a while it connected as intended. Speed is awesome and coverage is same as ET12 pros. Runs very hot. Another issue was their lOT network. Lot of smart devices refused to connect so I had to dedicate 2.4 to those and then it worked. This is not new issue and same happened with AX6600 and ET12 pros. I think it is a firmware issue. Design wise ET12’s was very good. Other than two 10gigs, rest are 1gig ports which should be 2.5. Anyways overall i love asus and will keep them. Thanks for the review Addendum: ended with returning it after 3 weeks. Unreliable, reset itself 2 times to factory default, random disconnects. When it worked it was awesome but currently not stable
@@landpet i have had zero luck with these unless you reboot them every few days. Returning them as I also get stutters and other weirdness I didnt have when running some asus et12's.
I haven't looked at the other numbers but those other top of the line Deco's are also Beasty from what I remember. I will be doing a comparison between all the beasty wifi 7 mesh systems and a separate video for all the beasty wifi 7 routers
hello @landpet, given a choice between the ASUS ZenWiFi BQ16 and the TP-Link Deco BE95 or BE85, which would you choose? A comparison video would be great.
Comparison coming up for sure, going to through in the Orbi 970 as well. Honestly, all these systems are great. It's hard to say which one is the best because some excel in different areas and it's really up to you. ASUS definitely excels in features without subscriptions. This thing is definitely very fast but I do think the BE95 had the fastest wireless backhaul speeds. When I prep for the video with all the charts, I'll provide more information.
I seconded this request as well and would like to the host to test three things: speed, coverage and also the auto-roaming ability of these two routers on AI mesh. Thanks
ASUS is pronounced like "aces." It's not a-SOOS. Or az-us. Or anything else. The company's co-CEOs both pronounce it "aces." I'm going with them on this.

If this is overkill, you could check out the younger sibling:

iPhone 16 skimped on WIFi 7 only used 160MHz instead of 320MHz, so the download speed is half as fast

seems to be the case

Most of the others do have MLO but this thing is great right out of the box
Thank you for the video.
Do you prefer it over the Deco Be85 since this one has more settings customization?
Tough decision, depends on the price really but I gottta look at the number for the BE85 to see how that did. I will be doing a comparison video so I’ll try to answer it than.

bro do review on be230 im surprised that u haven't done it yet it seems like its gonna be very popular router

It's a great router, not perfect but very good. Wireless backhaul on it is very good.
Different language means it's in Spanish
In your opinion is this currently the best WIFI7 mesh wifi system? Even better than Netgear Orbi 970 or TP-Link Deco BE95?
Those three are amazing. I’m actually going to do a video comparing them to each other this week
@@landpet Can't wait! Looking forward to it.
@@landpet i have had zero luck with these unless you reboot them every few days. Returning them as I also get stutters and other weirdness I didnt have when running some asus et12's.
How many nodes can you have on the system? I was needing 8 nodes (is that possible?)
I don't know the exact number. It's typically around 5.
Up to 9 nodes.
thank you.
it looks weaker than deco BE95/85 or BE800/900 tho
although i like the design of previous high end routers. (ET12 and XT12)

Can you compare Zenwifi BG16Pro vs Rog GT-BE98?

Thanks for the heads up, I'll look into it as well. I've been pronouncing it A soos forever
1gbps ports need to go. 2.5gpbs costs only a few pennies more so there is practically no reason to use 1gbps ethernet anymore.
I'm just happy they put in 2 10gbps ports but yeah 2.5Gbps would be more ideal
