Great reaction Steven. You're always so well spoken, honest, and gracious when giving your opinions and for that you have my respect. I love musical theatre, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and of course Taylor, so I was very intrigued to hear how she would do within the parameters of musical theatre singing. I've always felt that she has a very strong, unique voice with a lot more layers to it than is expected, and this song proved that for me. She embodied the character she was singing for and that's what you need to be able to do in musical theatre. I felt everything the character was feeling as she sang and it made for a very captivating experience. She might not sound like your typical musical theatre performer, or generally what people expect from a female vocalist, but she sounds like her. She knows her voice and she works with what she has which is the sign of a talented singer.
I think she will only continue to improve and impress us with unexpected vocals (I heard the first clear bit of vibrato from her in the Tiny Desk performance and I was so proud 👏🏻). I feel like her confidence in her voice has also grown over the years and I think that will lead to more pleasant surprises like the vocals on her recent albums and this song. I've always believed in Taylor and her talent and I'm so glad she pushed herself vocally here because I've always known she had it in her. She is a lot more versatile and skilled than she's ever been given credit for. This song makes me really excited for the future of the Taylor Swift vocal/musical journey 😊
As a huuuuuuuge musical theatre nerd I have said for years and years and years that Taylor needs to write a musical and it feels wonderful to be proven right with this song! I know it tech was co-written but you can very much tell Taylor wrote a lot of this she has a very specific way of writing and it shines here. The attention to detail and the way she can describe something in such a unique way I mean the title Beautiful Ghosts is such an interesting way to describe memories and looking back on moments in our lives it's so very Taylor. She could easily become an EGOT and deserves too. Her vocals are also crazy amazing idk why but I'm obsessed with the way she sings "dance" in the last few lines it just really helps bring in the feelings of the whole song.

The abandoned stray, Victoria, 'The White Kitten', deserved her own song. Especially in the movie as she's such a lead kitty as played by Francesa Hayward the prima ballerina from the British Royal Ballet. Her voice and dancing is exquisite . watch her steal the show. Beautiful Job Taylor!
Taylor's actually done quite a few songs for movies. She did two for the Hunger Games (subjectively her best soundtracks), Sweeter than Fiction and one of the Fifty Shades movies. Think she also had a song for Valentines Day which she was in but can't remember. She really us fantastic at telling stories through music and I'm very surprised she hasn't done more

I love that you can appreciate this incredible song for what it is, even though musical theatre isn't typically your favourite, and I especially love how you always preach that music is subjective and people can like what they want.
She voiced a character in the lorax in 2012 and she has written quite a few songs for movies. Safe and sound was one of them, she wrote that and the song eyes open (definitely check that out, rock taylor rise 🤟) for the hunger games. Crazier and you'll always find your was back home for hannah montana 😂 today was a fairytale for valentines day, sweeter than fiction for the movie one chance and i don't wanna live forever for fifty shades. All of these songs can stand on their own though, they're not in a musical style like beautiful ghosts. I'm the same as you, not really a fan of musical soundtracks, but I love this song! The first time I heard this I bawled my eyes out! I lost a loved one and there are certain moments since I lost them that I described my grief like being surrounded by the ghosts of our beautiful memories all around my home, haunting me everywhere I look.
I felt like this song was describing those moments exactly, even though it’s not technically what she was singing about. That when I feel in my grief, I remind myself I have memories of that type of love to hold onto, and others look for it forever and never find it.
