Thanks for getting me riding again in Hollywood, the local Harley store would always destroy my bike.

Loving the camera work on this one,I know you said before you didn’t think you were good at editing, but I disagree because this video was top notch. Keep em coming, thanks for the content!

I have built a couple of gearboxes one for my 69sprite and another for my 1987 chevy 4x4. It was interesting watching you build the sportster gearbox. If you can understand how each gear locks on it is harder to assemble wrong way round. Thanks for the video. With transmissions like these "dog" type without syncro cones you can shift much smoother if you put a little pressure on the gear shift then when you pull in the clutch it falls into gear. My bmw 650ls had a gearbox like this. Thanks again for your video.

Nice job, well explained and filmed. What are the names of the pliers you used and where did you get them from? It certainly didn’t take as long to put together using them as taking it apart without them.

Thank you. They are called lock ring pliers. I purchased them off ebay.

How much did you spend on all the components for this rebuild?

Thanks for the comment, I hope you enjoyed the video. I would have to check back through the invoices to check all the prices.

Where can i get the manual you are using? I have a 1998 883 hugger and I need to rebuild the gearbox.

There is a manual on the harley sportster Facebook page (sportster sickness) or I found this workshop manual for sale online.

Ok. Thank you. I dont have a harley mechanic anywhere close to where I live. I have a 1998 883 hugger. I took it out the first part of spring, when I went to shift, I had no upper gears. I read my manual, I tried adjusting the pawl, but could only get up to 4th gear.
