Yeah, it was sad, but what a way to go out. Dude was a legend dying in the OR. He had the good sense to fall backward and not forward over the patient.
I think he is the one that had the best impact on Christina, I mean, Burke and Teddy made her an excellent surgeon, but he made her one of the best, not just a surgeon, but as a whole person.
He made her understand that you can learn a lot from someone even though they don't have the same style as you. He humbled her without doing a show of force like everyone tries to do. His death hurt me even though it was obviously going to happen for the show. Great character!

I think with Thomas, he made her realize a lot about herself professionally but moreso at this point in the series, his death made her realize she does not and will not be successful by herself which is why she went back to Seattle. After watching this i remember Cristina's father passed away when she was young and maybe that's why she was always having sexual relationships with the most prominent man in whatever setting she was in (older men too), but Dr Thomas was so far out of that range so he couldn't be that. But he challenged her and saw her, and was like a father figure to her in a way all her other mentors were not. I think his acknowledgements were the first that really meant something to her. And he's the first mentor that didn't try and make her into something she's not, take something from her, use her, or get bowled over by her.

It is so funny how this actor played a surgeon on st elsewhere, which is one of the 1st medical dramas ever, and his character resembles that of Christina’a on grey’s. I think it’s like a huge crossover where true fans of medical dramas really would appreciate.

Christina was my favourite character, I stopped watching when she left. She was so interesting and multi-level. Professional, an iron heart but yet so warm. Loved her.
