They make the bread twice a day at Publix, slice the meat in the store, and generally are pretty awesome. Also, any sub can be made into a salad. The Italian as a salad is my hands down favorite thing to order.
Publix is here in Virginia and I think the “northern” most store is in Stafford, VA approximately 10 miles north of Fredericksburg, VA. Publix is the best thing in grocery stores here. Grocery shopping is not great in Northern VA.
I was in Florida for the whole summer and worked in the Publix deli while I was there. The only thing I’ll miss is the food. Made some incredible off the menu subs.

I had an idea to essentially make a sub with the chicken exactly like the cheesesteak which involves slicing up the meat and putting it in the toaster with pepper, onions, mushrooms, etc. put that on the sub with whatever cheese I was feeling and added some chipotle sauce. Another one is the Italian sub. Get it toasted and then add tzatziki to it with your favorite veggies.
I haven't been to FL in over a decade, but I still remember going to Publix and picking up a bunch of subs before we went out on our grandfather's boat, every time we visited.
For my vegan and vegetarian friends, they will make a sub with the mock meats too. And little secret….the sub guy can use anything in the store for your sandwich. If you wanted olives but they don’t have them on the bar they legit will open a jar off the shelf. It’s insane.

I'm from Morocco and i visited the US a few times (Orlando, Florida) and each time the first thing i do when i land there is to head straight to the nearest Publix. I always have a chicken tender sub, on whole grains bread, lettuce, tomato, onions, black olives,pickled banana pepper, buffalo sauce, chipotle sauce, pepper jack cheese, toasted. It's THE best thing ever !

It heavily depends on which one you go to. The subway in my city had such garbage management, there was a new hire making the subs every week and they messed them up every time. Almost always burned the sandwiches and most of the time they understood almost no English.
There are a few grocery stores that do amazing sandwiches. A lot of them, if you ask, will do any meats from the deli counter too... so if you want that tasty boars head ham or turkey, they'll do it. It's amazing.

The only thing about Publix is the line for subs can be very, very long. Some workers make them quickly, others make them slowly. But all the meats in the deli are available for sandwiches. If you want something different it just has to be sliced when ordered.

Also there’s a famous bbq challenge that u eat within a hour , I believe it’s in Texas but it’s definitely somewhere in the south . A lot of TH-camrs done it

Subway used to have AMAZING bread, people wanted them to just sell the bread as an option. But something happened to it about 4-5 years ago and the bread became generic crap bread you'd get at any store. Never gone back there since, as I can make the same sub at home for 1/2 the price.
