    Right on Cap! ...got this module a month ago, very happy with it. Great trainer and the fact that you can multiplay in the same cockpit is very useful. My brother hadn't flown DCS in quite a while so he was able to hop in the plane with me while I ran him through the basics. Love that. It's a "getting back to basics" airplane which we should all hop in from time to time.

    Nice review .. I do love this little plane, but regarding the Autopilot: it actually doesnt have one (since its a trainer aircraft) .. the device you pointed as a basic AP is actually a flight director device, that directs the student pilot through some maneuvers, using the needles on the ADI .. so it is more of a guide than an AP. Also, you completely forgot about the rear seat nor did you try to fly it on MP with a second pilot on board :)

    Regarding the history of the aircraft specifically, it's development has been very very slow and it only got a proper flight model last year. Nobody seemed to care about it before it, but since then everyone describes this module as "everything the Hawk should have been", which is spot on. It's a wonderful module to just fly around in and chill, and also to practice proper deliveries for air to ground weapons. I got it during the Easter Sale this year and I have thoroughly enjoyed it since, to the point where I might make (and share of course) a COIN-type campaign for it if I find the time.

    12:18 They didn't model it on realism. In fact they didn't even model it at all. The C-101 uses the base default jet sound that has been there since the early Lock On days.

  • @pietbouwens4529
    @pietbouwens4529 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Why is there no "fun" category in these videos?
    For example, the a-10c doesn't have the best vfx/sfx, but it's a lot of fun to fly and learn the systems. FC3 is super unrealistic, but it's a lot of fun to fly the planes that are in it. Sfx and vfx doesn't really matter to me when I'm flying the plane, I'm just having fun flying it and learning the systems :D
    Fun is the most important factor for me, not necessarily how realistic it sounds or how many details there are (although these are still very important).

  • @EmperorLjas

    2:50 Should be noted that the missiles are all rear aspect, because of a code thing that's plagued other similar aircraft.
    6:20 If you leave the sight on automatic (and the correct mode), you can get reasonable results by just considering the slant range. No documentation on what the range settings are, though, but the shortest is 2000ft.
    7:30 The EB variant has TACAN, strangely enough for a non-combat aircraft. This was covered in the tutorial videos, but worth mentioning again here. The CC variant was only sold to non-NATO countries so it wasn't included.
    12:00 As of June 2019 the cockpit sounds are reportedly still WIP.
    28:00 The radar altimeter switch does nothing, it's just on by default.
    Another thing worth noting about the history is the glacial pace of development. It's one of the first third-party planes in DCS and it's still not finished. Bought it as an SFM plane though, so I'm happy with how far it's gone.

    • @markotdz9523
      @markotdz9523 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      To add to aim 9 issue, because of the code when attached to wing they are rear aspect and have hard time to lock, but as soon as fired dcs code takes over, meaning in theory they become regular aim 9... I have try this with mix result but it is fun to fire it without lock and see it tracking and finding the target.

    • @TLTeo
      @TLTeo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To add to the TACAN thing, the EB is a military trainer so it makes perfect sense that it would have equipment to teach students how to navigate in a military jet. In the CC, one can track TACAN station with the VOR equipment. Combining that with the ILS means that this jet actually has almost credible all-weather capability (at least close to the Mig-21 at least), which is a good bit better than the F-5. Also I could have sworn the radar altimeter switch does what it's supposed to, but I'm not 100% sure now. About the interactivity thing, I read somewhere that all the breakers are modelled which is really cool.

    • @sparrowlt
      @sparrowlt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      iirc the TACAN in the C101 is for the same reason as why it has a massive fuel load capacity.. the spanish air force wanted them to be able to fly to and from the Canary islands without stops due to the posibility of having a conflict with Morocco (in past conflicts with Morocco some actors like the US forbidden Spain to use US made planes in any conflict against morocco so in the 60s despite having Sabres and so they had to use old Hispano Buchons -BF109s- against Morocco.. from them on the SAF has a mix of american and other origin combat planes (Mirages in the old days) and wanted the jet trainers to be able to be used as light attack if needed.. so the C101 had to had the range and i asume the TACAN

    I watched yesterday an interview in Spanish with one the creators of the C101. He said he chose modelling this plane because his father and several other members of his family were Spanish Air Force F-1 pilots if i did not misunderstand. It seems his father, has been advising through the development of the project to make sure everything in the plane is as close to the reality as possible. Even the main business partner of the developer has been flying to a Chilean air force base to meet staff there and get as much information and pictures, as possible for the project, since Chile continues flying plenty of these planes.
    It seems this company is working now on a surprise.
    Kind Regards.

    Grim reapers:
    Are you interested in providing an updated Buyer Guide Review of the C-101?
    The Aviojet has received over 100 updates in the last year that includes new sounds and internal and external textures. The updates also include compatibility with the NS430 for C101.
