It really is, without a doubt and thank you for the hint on V3 EQ and Elysia by Plugin Alliance. It's going to change my perspective on how to approach my masters in terms of mid/side processing. Thank you ❤
I love it when I learn new things about plugins I already have. I never used Mid/Side in my ProQ3. I knew it was in there somewhere - lol - but I'm still trying to wrap my newb-brain around how my tools work. Very cool that you can combine dynamic eq with M/S. I played around with it in a mix. I love this. Game changer. I mean ....I still suck....but I suck a little less now. Ha ha !!! Man, I say this everytime - but - I love your channel, Rhys. I always learn something new. I appreciate the time you put into your vids. You're making this mountain a little easier to climb. Cheers.
Linear phase mode is only harmful unless you're doing something parellel. Mid/side channels are by definition not having common information - so what's that good for then?
There’s no right or wrong answer here. I did say that not using linear phase can create the desired effects by the phase shift that can happen. In the end you just use the mode that sounds good to you and don’t get too caught up in “rules”. When you affect the sides of the mix it still has an affect on the centre image too, linear phase will help things to not phase shift. But honestly, just do what sounds good to your ears - I didn’t say it was a hard rule to live by 😇
Who listens to mixes in mono? Everyone who is more than a few inches away from their phone, or a few feet away from the center point between their speakers....basically everyone!
Haha it was just a silly comment 😂 just saying you don’t have to always worry about mono compatibility with every sound in your mix - some sounds aren’t that important and can be used to create some nice width, but it doesn’t matter if in mono they aren’t that audible.
But what you’re saying isn’t quite the same as summing the mix into mono. Try putting your mix in mono and walk away from the speakers and listen, Then leave your mix in stereo and walk away from the speakers - you’re still going to hear all of that side information that might disappear when you actually sum the mix to mono.
Hope you guys find this helpful!

Was the SSL on at all? Heard no difference when bypassed.
Brainworx very obvious.
Yeah it was on. Perhaps the settings are just more subtle. They all sound a little different.
Super cul
