- Exploring An Abandoned Food Town Grocery Store. Closed 21 years ago and sitting abandoned since, this old grocery store is now in such terrible shape, it's beyond saving. The roof has collapsed in several spots, especially the backroom of the store. This building is extremely dangerous, and I do not recommend you explore it. The roof showed multiple points of weakness where it could collapse at any second.
Explore with respect. Take nothing, leave nothing but footprints. Please do not vandalize. I do not condone it. Despite the poor condition of the building, I still do not condone vandalism. Take photos or video and leave.

Wow! Looks like it was abandoned in the 70s!
Dang! I’m surprised this place is still here! I thought it was bad in 21, it’s a lot worse.
I find it weird that a place can be open and operating for 50-60 years building looks fine but 2-3 years after the place is closed can look like this
Ikr ? I mean obviously they maintain and/or repair the building every few years but we never see them do so... lol
I wonder if it has something to do with heating/air conditioning and stuff like that which would likely no longer be running to ventilate the places, but would regularly run while the place is open and in use. That, on top of regular repairs to maintain buildings.
Vandals
Once a pipe bursts or a roof leak is unrepaired it is all over
Well when it's open it gets regular maintenance, usually. And after it's left abandoned the elements of mother nature take it's toll
This grocery store reminds me of the now tractor supply in Levelland Texas that was an abandoned alco . Tractor supply came in and restored the building and it now has life again.
I just wish we could see what it looked like when it was up and running.
Happy birthday Wallie!
I worked for the parent company that took over Food Town (now called SpartanNash). I remember when they announced that they were shutting them down. I actually went down to a couple Food Town and The Pharm stores to help pack and close them down. Crazy to see this building in terrible condition.
That building needs to update its hobo stab insurance policy asap! 😂😂😂
That’s insane. They’ll definitely have to tear this one down
Happy birthday Wallie! You are one of my favorite retail TH-camrs and you make me smile. You were also one of my inspirations for my channel!
Really nice find Wallie. You dont find abandoned Foodtown buildings anymore
Wallie b always finds the grocery stores that I never have heard of 😮😮
Once upon a time there was a Food Town in Danville, Ky. It closed up about 25 years ago. Was small, but had great service.
@@TheMetalmachine467 thank you for you info on this One
We have few abandoned ones in GA, and AL
@@chrisexplores1 okay thanks for the update on this grocery store Chris
Looks like the Food Town that was across from where the old Woodville Mall used to stand on the east side of Toledo, Ohio. I just passed through there a few weeks ago, my first time by there in years. That area has really changed.
This is a great exploration video, Wallie! You're one brave soul to explore the building that's in such deplorable condition. I'll admit that I was holding my breath as you explored this building. Take care, Alan.
i remember food town from when i was growing up in jersey. food town, shop rite, path mark and A&P.
This was a different chain of Food Town stores - owned by Seaway Food Town. Only had stores in SE MI and NW/Central Ohio.
5:25 That light hanging down would have tempted me to cut the wires and save it. I collect and restore lights, and fans. Little keepsake if you will.
Wow food town... ours became a furniture store after it closed
Looks like it's gotten a lot worse since we were in there last, and I didn't climb those ladders either. I'm glad you got to explore this and was safe brother. Take care and stay awesome.
That was quite the find. The train horns really added to the creepy atmosphere. I liked it.
You're taking a chance walking around in that mess. Hope your tetanus shot is still good. Stay safe.
Wow, you’ve been posting some awesome places recently!!! This one makes me think of the Ames in KY from a few years ago!
Hey what are you doing here 😂
It was closed in 2002-2003 Food town open stores in 1961 and Closed 2002 Tie in Ames Northridge mall Closed 2003
i allowed the ads and let the ads run fully in this video wallie ... $ $ my contribution to your expense fund ! Thanks for the great videos.
There used to be a Foodtown in the town I live in, thankfully it found it's second life as a Big Lots so it's not abandoned.
Awesome Wallie
Awesome Ways to start out with Terrible Place of Food Town Supermarket bad of Falling of the Part since to Better Day. It's been so Long shap is old It's missing so much Found a Exploring An Abandoned Old Places what a Big Bulding Rough.
As always great video 👍
Great find 😊
Very good video Wallie!
That’s the one across from the old Woodville Mall! I shopped there as a kid!
Where the store is, it’s less than 1 mile from the Norfolk Southern, Chicago main line. That’s your train horn. Very busy stretch of track
Hey 26 that Ames in Essex MD has been completely bulldozed. Going to be a concrete monstrosity.
Awesome job!! 🤘👍
Great video as always, scary,! I wonder how long before it totally collapses!
the roof basically looks like it’s just rusting away and it sounded like a NS train horn you heard!
Different train companies have different horns? (Sincere question, I had no idea.)
Those were some baller retro incandescent light fixtures. I know they gon judge but I'd a took them bulbs right up out of there. Still got some tubular 20 watt candleabra incandescents from inside the abandoned post office in New Castle.
This will definitely be tear down by the wreaking ball.
About 10 plus years over do
Wow that place is a mess it needs major repairs
DAMN MAN! Looks like a nuke+fire went off in there... The workers showed they didn't care about the conditions of the building in a bunch of ways..
Wow! This place is really in shambles! Safe exploring and safe travels to and from destinations.
There is still a few that are open in New Jersey but they are super food towns
Last time I saw a building that bad and disgusting was when I was down at the Wrighttown NJ Ames.
Sad, looks like it could have been a nice place at one time
To be fair, there are good graffiti artists out there. But I certainly disagree with doing illegal graffiti like has likely been done here. Highly doubt the owner said they could do that so kinda a safe bet lol.
Knew this was the place when I saw the thumb nail. Across the street, where they are building condos, used to be an amazing mall.
Living in Toledo as a kid, every Food Town I remember was connected to a Kmart. There was one by Southwick Mall and one on.....Reynolds? I think? Those are the two that spring to mind, but I know there were AT LEAST two more.
Great video man one of best in awhile keep them coming one of your worst by condition of building crazy left it to rot like this
Wow amazing. I remember those grocery stores in Michigan. Very nice job on the video
Awsome viedo Wallie dude and like totally good thing you didn't like sneeze while dude or like the whole place may have came! 😅
Totally forgotten about this channel. I binged all the videos a year or two ago. Now I can binge on all the newer videos. Awesome! WallyB? You got it right about your exploring rules. Total respect for the building.
Awesome 👌 video
Geez this place is in horrible shape. Reminds me of the abandoned Acme in Egg Harbor Township, NJ which was also badly vandalized, which is a shame because it had the 70s colonial decor package. Also how old was this Food Town store?
10:10 Someone should use that phone and say "Cleanup on every aisle and the entire building" 🤣
😂
Later future of that building roof is gonna collapse completely
Wow!!
Awesome video that was fun
That was a cider tree
Scary.
Good stuff, man. I enjoy these videos of yours
It creeps me out walking past abandoned grocery stores lol . Imaginw getting trapped in one.
Thanks for not showing that on your video wallieb26 and man that place looks horrible looking
I have that umbrella!
Great video!
I am not mentioning where this is located, but I am hoping you filmed a bunch of places in this area. I assume there’s lots of abandoned places rotting for decades around this city.
That buillding is in bad shape
Back in the day, there was a Former A&P/FOOD TOWN which was located on Detroit's Eastside. When, the Former A&P /FOOD TOWN had a Fire and the owners never rebuilt the store after the Fire and The City of Detroit ,Demolished the Burned-out Former A&P /FOOD TOWN and to ,this very day is a abandoned vacant lot.
Wow, totally random spots for the ceiling fans. The white fan at 7:09 is a Relite Airmaster. Not entirely sure about the brown fan at 16:47, Con-Tech perhaps?
I gots many Abandoned places you wouldn't even imagine, in NJ next time than I can send you places, you check them out. Like Talking Wawa's, Dollar Trees, & more.
If this was in Illinois would have been turned into a Dollar General years ago! lol
Some abandoned buildings are still empty cuz the owner of the building wants too much rent.
If this store can talk. What would it say?
Paper or plastic?
What's up wallie come inside Imma eat you 😅😂
Hmm....
Why aren't my replies showing on my phone
It would say "Please kill me"
That place is in bad shape for sure tear it down
I worked for Food Town in NJ when I was a teenager in the 80s. I only know of one other in NJ and another in NY. Its a name mostly forgotten.
the fact someone drove all the way over there just to spray paint fix me on that door at 4:28😂
people be having me dying sometimes..
🤣
There's definitely is no saving that building that building would have to be demolish there is no way you could repurpose that building but hopefully someone buys that building and builds something better
The sheet metal roof has rusted completely through the holes the roof is basically desintrgated and this building will basically collapse all someday
Should be condemned
If I remember correctly, that building has been condemned
0:27 sometimes I might age restrict my videos or might have to put up a danger, warning up ahead on my videos because yes, I even explore urban buildings
but holy cow the inside was almost worse as the Ames in Maryland which it’s a shame it got Demo 2:15
I would of passed on this explore seems like to much risk
It's in bad shape for sure.
I don't know but when he was walking on the floor it sounds like horses
My mom worked there for many years barely recognize the building before it was Foodtown. It was a cash and carry then before cash and carry it was it toy store and the building has been added on a couple times then when Spartan took over that’s when Foodtown closed in the early 2003 I believe and in every place where the roof caved in and has daylight that’s where the roof was leaking before the store closed if you ever noticed across the street where Farm and family is at one time it used to be a Hills/Ames department store then at one point it was a Steve N Barry’s sporting goods
Looks like you are located in or around Ohio.
Have you come across or are familiar with an Ohio department store chain called Hills???
That was my favorite store as a kid in the 70’s and 80’s.
The store in Sandusky was something to see.
That was old grocery store wallieb26 this building must been demolish after 2 decades.
You cool
I joust think its funny that there is a wet floor sine joust sitting there 😂
Really bad , one of the worst I’ve seen you in Wallie. I believe they’re known as Food Lion now. Food Town 1957- 1983
