    I'd like to ask in your opinion which is harder, SA Pro or this?
    I already have 4 certs of AWS (CCP, all assoc) and im planning to take a PRO in 3 months. Already exposed in AWS on projects but of course, not all services are being used on my projects haha. I'm Developer on my work

    • @PatrickB1111
      @PatrickB1111  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally I found SA Pro much harder than DevOps Pro. SA Pro requires a lot of thinking, whereas DevOps Pro you can mostly answer off the top of your head if you have the experience and know the content well.
      As a developer you'd probably find DevOps Pro easier. You'll still need to study using the resources I've outlined though.

      I hate to generalise but I've had bad experience with ACG exam prep courses in the past so I generally avoid them now. They aim to get you a pass and no more. You're in much better hands with Adrian Cantrill and Stephane Maarek.

    I am Sysadmin, I am going well on practice tests for SAA-C02, about 90% or more on different tests ... I do not have Any dev knowledge or experience ... After SAA certification, is It possible to go directly from saa to Devops Professional? Or I Will need to pass from Developer associate before? .... It is from a Devops oportunity in June... I do not have much time... But i am unemployed, I am able to study 10 to 12hs per day.... Thanks

    • @PatrickB1111
      @PatrickB1111  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you learn the skills properly and then get the certs, you'll have an easier time overall and be better at your job - I wouldn't get too hung up on one opportunity. It might be possible to pass devops pro without doing developer, but if you properly learn everything you need for devops pro, passing developer should be easy. I would say do developer first, then devops after that.

    2. Do I have to study devloper associate and sysops administration associate?

    • @baztheman
      @baztheman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looks like you have answered the #2 in your video. The reason for asking that question is because I do not use most of the stuff in say, developer associate course, so the materials are extremely "dry" - hard to study. do you guys have similar issue? Meaning, the course covers a lot of stuff that you do not use or not familiar, hence, it is very hard to study.

    • @PatrickB1111
      @PatrickB1111  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Developer associate and SysOps are not official prerequisites - you can sit the DevOps exam without having done them if you want.
      But I'd highly recommend taking the associate level exams first, there is a big jump between associate and professional and you want to be completely certain you're comfortable with the associate content first.
      To answer question #2, the key to retaining the knowledge is to apply it. Work on real life projects, whether at work or side projects, using what you learn in the courses. That way you can contextualise everything and properly understand it versus just memorising.

    Hello brother
    I want ask a question about my career path, I graduated from high school and I start AWS cloud practitioner training and i want get some other certifications too from AWS but I don't have any programming skill or any IT skill so what do I need to learn for became a cloud engineer or do i need to go college.
    Thanks bro!

    • @PatrickB1111
      @PatrickB1111  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Doing an IT or Computer Science degree is probably a good idea in your position. It's definitely possible to self teach but it's a lot harder to fail following the college option. There's plenty of demand for skilled workers but you actually have to build the skills somehow; juniors often struggle to find work. Coming out of high school with no IT experience you probably don't have too much idea of what is out there in terms of industry areas to focus on. Doing a degree will help you get a bit of exposure to different concepts and meet people who can give some guidance, and of course you learn a lot in the process and have a way of showing others what you know. The level of opportunity out there for IT/CS grads is fantastic.
      CCP is a good place to start, SA Associate is a good one as your next cert, I'd recommend learning a programming language before going much further than that though. Again it depends what you want to get into.

    This exam really annoys me with some of the questions, one I had with the RDS is whether to use SQL dump and store in s3 vs taking a snapshot, copying it to another region.As the question asked for the CHEAPEST I thought, s3 has cheaper storage tiers and there is no copying to other region, that would be cheapest. But I was incorrect because Snapshots are a more effient option... So.. that confused me haha.
    Still gna keep trying but even though I use these tools day in day out, it's different than actually knowing an exam question, Guess i need to be better at studying in general!

    • @PatrickB1111
      @PatrickB1111  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Was this RDS question on the TutorialsDojo practice exam, or somewhere else? I find a lot of practice exam resources (other than TD) are pretty badly worded, and generally avoid them. I'm assuming it wasn't the actual exam as you wouldn't know if you got it right or wrong in that case.

    • @lewisstevens1
      @lewisstevens1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it was a Stephen Maarek one but not 100% sure.
      I havent actually taken the exam yet, i did take some practice questions and tried to pull them apart with why it's this and why its not this question, from the one on the aws site, however there were a couple of questions that there was 3/4 to select and would get one of those wrong,
      As there was 10 questions i think i only got 7 which were fine.

    • @PatrickB1111
      @PatrickB1111  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stephane Maarek's practice exams are pretty good, the AWS exam readiness ones are hit or miss in my experience.
      This may not be the most conservative approach, but my view is "if you think you're ready, and the only questions you get wrong seem like there are issues with the questions, just book in the exam" - sometimes you have to make the leap, and more likely than not you'll find the actual exam is much more fair than the practice questions you were doing.
      That being said, take your time to understand the concepts themselves inside out, and obviously don't go in unprepared.

    Can I pass the exam in 15 days ?

    • @PatrickB1111
      @PatrickB1111  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, no, maybe? The real question is why do you need to?
      This is a hard exam, it's best to take it slow. If you're a senior devops engineer then yeah, maybe you could pass it in 15 days. But that gives you about one day to learn CodeBuild, another to learn CodeDeploy, and ah, let's see, two for Lambda...
      Basically it doesn't work like that. Take as much time as you need! The course I recommend is over 50 hours so that should take you at least a month alone. Then factor in practice questions, working in the AWS console, experimenting with services...
      Do you want to learn this stuff or just pass the cert? Because it's skills that will get you the job, the cert just gets you the interview. 😊
      Edit: I do realise I have a video called "how I passed Developer Associate in 2 weeks" - just to clarify, that's an associate level cert and I was also doing both of the other associate certs at the same time. Professional level is much more intense, so while it may be possible to pass in 2 weeks, it's not really a great idea.
