I watched this movie when I was a kid, but ever since then this reference stuck with me and whenever I have to name something like a file or some profile and I can't come up with something, I just go with Bob. And when people get confused (cause I'm actually not Bob), I just smile and say "don't worry about it". It's amazing how little things in life impact us.

Found out WHY the 3D landscape panoramic shot was bad looking. It was UNFINISHED. The studio wanted the movie out sooner than was intended and so the staff had to cut corners. Hate CRUNCH TIMES!
Personally I actually like the raw 3DCGI, it gives a sense of outer worldliness. Like a lot of renpy visual novels are made with pretty basic environment graphics but indie games with that kind of graphics has its own charm.
When I saw it as a kid, I was under the impression the world was still forming itself. There wasn't anything on it, and no real defining features because it was still being built. I figured making a whole new planet wouldn't be an instantaneous thing. Little did I know. The animator's just didn't get the time to finish the movie. XD Wah-wah.
Knowing how we humans operate, probably a huge chunk of New Earth's population will call it Bob for shits and giggles, later being serious about it and it will just confuse the hell out of alien races.
Everyone that's confused about how the planet formed so fast, just think about how far humanity is in this movie. They created an easy bake oven for planets
That's the whole premise for the movie. The Titan Project was designed to make a new Earth, a new planet, and the Drej feared Humanity's limitless potential, so they attacked. Considering that a species that can create entire planets is one that is also going to need *a lot* of energy, and considering that the Drej are pure energy, it makes sense why they'd treat Humans as a threat.
This film is fine with showing multiple gruesome deaths and a planet exploding, but a single kiss between characters? Oh, no, no, no. They can't show that. Way too adult.

Yeah. Yet Adam and Eve kissed. These two didn’t even kiss. They were so so so close! And yet they didn’t do it! For God’s sake, if I was Cale, I’d be staring at the object for a short moment. And then: I: We almost kissed. Wanna try it again? Akima: Sure. Akima and I: *kiss*
Anyone else who can’t stand ”almost kisses”? Especially in this movie. A part where Cale and Akima were just about to kiss, only to be interrupted by sound of a flying object? I was so so so furious when they didn’t kiss. And I still am!
well, obviating that the human colonists finally find their true home, the new earth (or ''Bob'' for the friends), seem that a wonderful life begins for Akima and Cale, the new ''Adam and Eve'' for this paradise, likely their offspring will be part of the next generations.
We watched this movie for a reward day back when I was in middle school, and we had one really gullible kid in my class that we convinced that this was an inside joke because Earth was originally supposed to be named Bob.

The graphics on the ship are amaing at 0:52. I feel like the CGI spent all their budget on that and then at 1:01 just decided to load in "Ground.PNG" for the terrain.

I love how some of the continent’s and land masses are parts of old earth just mashed up together Like you can literally see east Africa and parts of Egypt and the sahara or Hainan and parts of China and south east Asia.
Maybe the TITAN can copy shapes of continents on earth while combining them in different ways? Humans would probably feel more at home, but most likely it's just to cut animation/artwork costs.

I have wondered this for years, and finally googled “planet bob earth 2” and this came up. I felt like crying. I thought I had managed to make it up somehow and it didn’t exist. 😭
