30 mins in I know you haven't used tinkers construct much however the smelter is there to be used It doubles your ore output making it more efficient than furnaces also you add lapis to your pick in tinker table for fortune and add a diamond to upgrade you mining level

Please make 200 days in modpack. And did you know that you could put all of your items in the alchemy table and you get mc for all of them and you can get the items from there (the early game before he made the ME storage system). But, yes you have to grind for the item but once you have that item in the alchemy table you have it forever. So, you only need one of every item and you are good.
