Draymond has been on some BS with a lot of these incidents but I don't think the league has ever thought of kicking him out. He deserves a suspension and he got one , we move on. I also am not a fan of the " he needs help" take but more so because i think it makes it seem like he's seriously mentally unstable which he clearly isn't. I do understand that these people on tv have way more access to info about him and his team so they could be suggesting he needs helps based on details the public doesn't know.

Shaq came from an era where this wasn’t even an ejectable offense, much less a suspension. Shaq is not “wrong” but Draymond SHOULD adapt to this softer NBA if he cares about the team. Draymond’s behavior has arguably cost the team multiple rings at this point.

Everyone is missing what Shaq is so upset about; it's the implication that there is a mental health problem. If that was the case half the players in the 90's would be considered mentally ill. There's no excuse for choking another player but Shaq's point was that the chocking was part of an altercation while defending a teammate and not done while making a play. Still the game is different now and I agree with Kenny about the behavior hurting the team. Then there's Charles acting like he's never gone too far because choking and punching is what he considers an a$$ault when I consider his spitting on someone was an a$$ault too. He never did that again but he shouldn't pretend he never went too far himself.

No wonder why he feels triggered by that "counselling" word lol counselling or therapy doesn't mean you're crazy or have a psychiatric issue...

@@tinti7 Chuck was a very clean player actually. He played tough, but he rarely played dirty. His worst antics was spitting on a fan. Yes he punched Laimbeer. But pro tip: half the league punched Laimbeer at some point or another. And he and Ewing got in a scuff, which was entirely instigated by Ewing and Barkley only defended himself and didn't "go after" Ewing at all. Ewing body checked him like he was wearing hockey skates (illegal screen), Chuck tossed him out of the way so he could play defense - which is what you do when you get hit by an illegal screen that doesn't get called - and then Ewing was butthurt and had to man-up to make up for just getting rag-dolled by someone 5 inches smaller. And so Chuck rag-dolled him again. No punches, no assaults. Just a good hard shove. And that's pretty much it for actual scuffs or questionable on-court antics for Chuck.

Draymond shouldn't be doing stuff like this in the public eye basically. No clue how counseling is going to fix this. But they literally giving him this option instead of firing him as an NBA player. Because being a player is his job and he shouldn't be doing stuff like this unwarranted.

To play dirty is part of the game, anything goes to win, hell, even KAJ trowed sneaky elbows at the ribs of his opponents. Artest had his ups and downs, was able to disguise it (the right way to play), but sometimes he was too blatant. This narrative that Draymond is mentally challenged, he has anger issues, etc.. in the information era, if he is really sick, accusations of domestic violence and similar antics would surface already. But thus far, the guy is clean, no accusations as far as I know. So the current narrative is how Draymond is a menace, he is the new Rodman, blablablabla, but in fact, it's just the NBA media trying to hook people. And it works, look at us talking about this stupidity

I'll say this , many of these comments seems to be from people that's never played basketball or anyother sport . They've definitely never played against black kids in black neighbourhoods ! I'm 69 years old now , I started playing the game on the asphalt courts of inner city Atlanta , then at an all black high school in the inner-cities at the age of 12 . I was 5ft 7 inches weighed maybe 135 lbs. In order to play you had to either pick a team or be picked to play . And you played against former high school and college players , street dudes , hustlers grown drop outs and they were big tough and showed no mercy . And I was the only kid that they couldn't intimidate or make quit . By the time I was 16 . I was the guy nobody wanted to play against . And during those days every college wanted that type of player . The tough guys , big strong and intimidating. At my age I've watched the game evolve all the way from the playgrounds to the pros .in the 60s , I believe that it was a white coach at Western michigan that went to the inner-cities and recruited black player and they beat adolph Rupp and kentuky for a national championship. College basketball has never been the same since . Next the NBA was dying and on its death bed , in comes the black players and the rest is history ! Within a few years white boys were barely making teams . No 1 they couldn't compete and white ticket buyers finally had something to cheer about . I could go on ! But what's happening to the league today is embarrassing . I mean the plan to make the league atleast 90 percent European is a joke . Soon the only black players in the NBA will be from France or Africa. This is why young black american players are being gradually run out of the league. By hook or crook ! Not so long ago players like Draymond Green were celebrated . The fans went to games to see the shaqs , Berkley, masons okleys , rodmans mahorns malones and Lambeirs etc , etc to beat up on each other. They were allowed to do whatever they wanted never seeing suspensions more than one game . The game was so physical that white boys started running away from the playing the game same as football. They got into sports management , representing black athletes , robbing and stealing them blind . So this attempt to create a European NBA will never last . And it'll need blacks to save it again . Well maybe not because when you look at the ignorance and stupidity of whites today ( the magas ) hell they'll go to watch 10 man made robots play !

Lol. I understand what Shaq was saying, but I think Kenny's take on it was better. There's no issues with him off the court like Ja and Chuck. So its not a 24/7 anger issue. Just his passion for the game when he's playing. So that needs to be dealt with on the coaching side and if Steph is the leader of the Team he needs to be talkin to him too. Like dude you keep getting suspended is not helping us. Keep the aggressiveness, but stop kicking and stomping people in the nuts.
I don't like how Chuck got amnesia like he never was punching people in his day.

Totally understand what Shaq& Kenny are saying Draymond does not need Therapy based on what goes on the court but need to tone it down with what he does ,because back in the 60's Thur the 90's this how game was played with most teams having an enforcer, but we live in a time where. Everything is under the Microscope, and like Shaq said he is a good Citizen in the world so suspension is to help him stop playing outside the rules of the game in Present day NBA

Shaq is identifying with Dray, and like Dray, he is dug in on his image. Shaq is just trying to be right, without doing the job of interpreting this pro basketball situation for the fans, he's just being right.
Dray does need a sports phycologist, or at the least some mentorship, he needs to step back from his image, or his image of himself. With all of the competition damaging ejections and suspensions, he obviously needs help with that. Dray is way to smart to keep shooting his team in the foot over and over again, and stabbing his basketball legacy in the back.

Shaq is 💯 percent wrong. In reality we all need counseling. There’s things that happened in our lives that we aren’t aware of and shaq is making it seem like it’s the end of the world seeking someone’s opinion on things that might be hidden. Just because you’re rich and sitting in front of millions doesn’t mean you can’t be better than you are today mentally. That shows shaq is flawed because what draymond is doing has nothing to do with basketball. What shaq did in the 90s had everything to do with him having a championship spirit and getting clocked a million times because no one could stop him. Can’t believe dude said that

Legacy, c'mon now, lol such bullshit. The guy earned 100 million by being a role player in a system, he most likely consider himself a "star", it doesn't help how the team not only overpay, but also protect Draymond. So really, the Warriors are to blame, they fomented his antics. No one pampered Rodman and Artest back in the day, they kept playing because their talent was legit. To play the enforcer role in the current soft era is really tough, any minimal contact will be called a technical foul... and Draymond don't even try to disguise it, he plays dirty right in front of the refs, it's just stupid

You do what you have to do to win a game, Draymond is not playing for the moment he’s playing for the future, he’s making sure that both him and his teammates are protected not only by their basketball ability but the fear of getting physical. By saying that draymond needs counseling your saying Larry Bird, Zaza, Doctor J, Michael Jordon, Ben Wallace, THE ENTIRE BAD BOY PISTONS, Ron Artest and Kevin Garnett need counseling. Raja Bell made this point, that Steph needs to sit him down and remind him of his place. I do think that is what is needed more than counseling. It seems that no one that has authority over him is willing to control him. So instead we have to talk around the issue by bringing up counseling etc when that's probably not what is needed, that's where I agree with Shaw. But at the same time it's quite obviously stupid to say it's ok to punch and choke people on a basketball court. It's not OK, he wasn't "just defending a teammate", he looked like he had been waiting for an opportunity to do something like that. He needs to control himself, and he's been enabled, the people who have been enabling him need to stop that and they need to help him control himself.

Hold him accountable? Yes. He cost them chips, the dynasty isn't cemented with 4 in 8 and he set the team back years? No. Ridiculous tbh.
I swear people don't actually watch half the teams in the NBA. Jordan Poole was not the future of the warriors. If the green punch- which was messed up and should have been addressed harder- lead to that trade, which it didn't, it took 3 years off the upcoming rebuild. Any years in between, come on, KD is on his 3rd and youngest superteam, he wasn't going to stay lol. That players only meeting would've happened if it was the one thing. The year KD left he missed the whole season, the year after the warriors had Wiseman playing starter minutes and no Klay, and the year after that they won a championship, so what exactly would having an extra 40M contract have done in those three years? Definitely not two championships.
People really saying the warriors "only" having 4 rings is because of one person as if any franchise can just win a decade straight if they're good enough, as if there weren't legit reasons for every down year and every big loss, and as if he single handedly choked game 7 in 2016 lol. @@phamawa What would the counseling actually do? i mean, other than make the NBA look better and proactive instead of us (paying customers, sponsors, etc) taking a much harder look at it for allowing for him to get this far in the first place. This is issue has been created by both Draymond Green and the NBA itself equally. Rasheed Wallace never got to go this far (outside of the incident with Donaghy, which I will grant but we also know what he did) because referees started calling technicals on him for merely looking their direction. NBA officials indulged his behavior and told him it was mostly okay to do so by doing what he'd been doing for most of his career. Him learning self control is something that could be done through a suspension that conveys the message "Hey, stop it!" The counseling is a distraction technique for the NBA.

yeah he needs to attend counseling at a minimum, its not even asking that much. There is absolutely nothing to lose from going to counseling.

Shaq's argument here reminded me of the gas tank thing from a few years back. He keeps saying something that is logical, to him, and then keeps repeating it over everyone's objections.

Yeah, I know that Tyson quote@@mrshaheedmalik but Shaq blaming other players for not hitting back is just an attempt to shift the blame away from Draymond. Draymond is playing basketball, not in a ring. He's repeatedly stepping over the line and needs to stop.

0:40 What Shaq dislikes is the narrative that counselling equates to a mental health problem when he [incorrectly] believes it's just playing hard and being physical. Draymond clearly has anger management issues and whether you call it therapy or counselling, without intervention, he will continue to undermine his own team and sabotage his own legacy.

and even if he didn't have problem like shaq says, at least you still tried. what do you lose by trying out "counselling"? if they find a problem, alright, we can fix it. if their isn't, you can show to people that you've tried it.

Hell, Jordan punched Kerr in practice, most likely he punched others as well, got into fights, etc people forget the NBA remains a competitive environment, even with the player being pampered, the defective rules, etc.. this soft era is pathetic, but these guys are still competing. Remember when KAT and Embiid were throwing real punches at each other? The problem with Draymond is how he is losing awareness about his dirty plays, at first he did it in a disguised way (which is how a enforcer should play the role), but with time he is getting more blatant about it. To play dirty is not a sin, anything goes to win... however, if the enforcer can only commit fouls instead of drawing retaliation, he becomes a dead weight

Shaq you are wrong on this one. Draymind didnt evolove or mature at all in the last years, i understand that his mentality brought him to where he is now but now the same mentality is not helpful anymore and does harm to him. He need counseling and help for sure.

Shaq and Chuck played in the era off Rodman, Ron Artest, Mahorn, Laimbeer when you usually didn't get ejected for hitting someone. When Kurt Rambis was clotheslined by Mchale he just went and shot his free throws and Machale didn't get tossed or even get a tech.
