Join Aj and his students as they embark on a fun and unique team-building activity known as Hangi.

Aj, together with his students, took part in a unique team-building activity where they learned how to cook a traditional New Zealand dish known as Hangi. This method of cooking involves burying heated rocks or steel irons in a pit oven, also known as an umu, and covering the food with wet cloth and earth to trap the heat from the stones.
Traditionally, Hangi food was wrapped in flax leaves, but modern versions often use cloth sacks, aluminium foil, or wire baskets. Hangi packs, which involve individual foil takeaway containers covered with cardboard lids, are also becoming more popular.
To cook the Hangi food, the baskets are placed on hot stones at the bottom of the pit, and then covered with a wet cloth and a mound of earth. The food is left to cook for three to four hours, depending on the quantity being cooked.
Overall, the Hangi cooking experience was a great team-building exercise that not only taught Aj's students about the traditional Maori way of cooking, but also provided an opportunity for them to bond over a shared cultural experience.
