I definitely feel sketchy about 8.4 going into my transmitter. If anything I’d use LiFe (LFP) because that has a resting voltage below 7v. They may get high during charging but quickly drop off after being disconnected and can safely be discharged to 2.5v/cell, so the LVA in the dx5c being set to 5.6v would actually be acceptable.
You should not use a battery above 8c discharge rate on your radios. You can purchase many lipos that have the correct connector. Using these will not void warrenty.
Hi , a question: Spektrum DX6C ( of maybe DX5C ) is compatible with my possible future Mini-z MR04 EVO2? I also do model flying, I have a lot of Spektrum Rx for my DX8, can I use them for the DX6C ? e.g. Vince
This is good info for newbie on the rc world, i did change to lipo to ALL my transmitters when i started rc hobbie 9yrs ago. I got a question n hopefully you can help me out, i have a spektrum dx5c and i dont have reverse, it is possible that i can get the throttle assembly?? Thank you.
"A sharp screwdriver"? what are we, cave men!? lol ;) I did upgrade to the LiPo battery from Spektrum, and am underwhelmed with it's performance. I have the DX5 Pro, with the annoying screw on battery lid, and NO charge jack built in. Also completely underwhelmed with that radio as well.
I have the dx5 too with no charge port accidentally changed the low voltage settings when i first got it now it wont let me do anything before low voltage warning comes on bought a battery pack but can't find a charger anywhere already bought one from amazon that doesn't work what charger can i get for the pack with the two prong clip cant find one anywhere even looks like spektrum doesn't have one trying not to spend anymore money on this controller had it for months and haven't even been able to use it definitively getting frustrated with it 400$ controller and my crap stock traxxas ones work better had nothing but problems with itn
@@ericwright27 If you use the LIPO batteries with no balance lead then try the Redcat Hexfly HX-A3 LiPo Charger, they are less than $20 and I use mine all the time for my scx24 batteries. It will charge 2-3s batteries. I have even had it fix a bad cell. The charger is small and easy to pack.

Good stuff! Wondering if a slt3 would handle 2s voltage? If so,its on lol
Awesome thank you

If you send it to Horizon, they should be able to fix it. I have had good experiences with sending in stuff, but this was years ago.
I just bought that 2000 li ion spectrum battery, my charger won’t charge it because it doesn’t have a balance wire. How do you charge it? Thanks
What charger do you have? Usually, chargers have balance options where you can select "no balance" or something similar.
@@mzgarage passport p4 ultra I think it is
Did you see if there is an option for no balance?
How do you then charge the battery, the Spectrum one with the XT30 plug. Its does not have balance wire.
You can charge it just like a normal battery and control the rate. I usually charge it between 2 and 4 amps. It takes about 30-40 minutes.
@@mzgarage ok thank you. One more question so I just choose 1-cell when trying to charge it?
No, select 2 cell LiFe.
There is no balance plug so charging at a lower rate like 2 amps is beneficial.
can you also use a liion battery on the receiver RX ?for spectrum RX receivers ?
Yea, as long as it's relatively the same voltage.
so you pull it out every time to charge it?
Yea, it's not hard. Just unplug it, charge it, and throw it back in.
@@mzgarage I'm looking for a way to not have to pull battery out to charge it. guess I'll have to make something custom.
Isn't the voltage of the 2s to high?
I have been running it for a year with no issue. The Dx5 Pro runs on the same battery I am using I believe.
Upgrade to Lipo Battery by buying a FlySky Noble NB4😁

What are you underwhelmed about with the Spektrum lipo? Just the battery life?
