  • Love Left Behind, Love Outside
Pastor Clark Riggins, the senior pastor at Cannington, opens his sermon by expressing his enjoyment in studying the Book of Revelation with the congregation and sharing how its teachings impact daily life. He recounts a personal story about accidentally locking his family out of their running car, drawing a parallel to the message that sometimes we find ourselves on the outside of God's presence. He then delves into the significance of being in the spirit, emphasizing that understanding Revelation requires the Holy Spirit's guidance. Focusing on the letter to the church in Ephesus, Pastor Riggins explains that despite their diligent efforts and perseverance, they had forsaken their first love-love itself. He likens this to being a grand cathedral that, without love, is merely a war zone. He stresses that correct theology without love is meaningless and points out that forgiveness is essential for maintaining loving relationships. He concludes by urging the congregation to return to their first love and to forgive, warning that a lack of love and forgiveness can leave Jesus outside their lives, just as He was depicted standing outside the door of the church in Laodicea.
