Even the Qur’an doesn’t teach that it was revealed at once. 😂

When people choose to be ignorant, they really go to extreme lengths!
First and foremost, if you listen carefully, the woman asking the question about this verse asks if he can explain it very quickly. Which he does! Key word here being 'quickly'. There is so much context about this event that it would have probably taken him several hours to explain everything justly. This happened shortly before Mohammads (saws) death, this is the culmination of his whole life, of his prophethood, his final return to Mecca.
But what people fail to see over and over again (those who have no interest in being realistic, but only wish to find flaws), is that there is so so much context behind what happened to the Meccans, and why it happened.
    1. You really need to educate yourself about pre-Islamic Mecca, and specifically about the Quraysh (the ruling family). You need to understand that they were an elitistic, slave-owning, woman-hating, discriminating, murdering, arrogant kind of people. They were the kind of people who, if they lived for example in the US today, would be locked behind bars, and probably given a death-sentence.
    2. This was the case of the whole Arab world at that time. They were extremely tribal-oriented, and caused mayhem and havoc on both others, and themselves.
    3. The context of time is extremely important here. Everyone acting so self-righteously need a reality check and understand that this happened 1400 years ago, when the whole world was basically a well-oiled murdering machine. In this kind of world, Mohammad (saws) went to extreme lengths to avoid violence, as it was commanded to him. But sometimes violence is unavoidable, and that's especially true for those times.
    4. Last, but not least, he says in the video "he gathered the CHIEF enemies". Not the civilians, not the women and children, not even the soldiers, but their COMMANDERS. Their leaders. Those who oppressed, and tortured, and enslaved, not only Mohammad (saws) and the believers, but anyone they wanted, those are the people this verse applies to. And even they are given chance for repentance over and over again!
And still, these points that I mentioned are only scratching the surface. If you truly wish to know about something, educate yourself. Don't go around picking things apart and taking only the info you wish in order to spread hate!

@SELMA IMAM - so ALL IS GOOD with even the teenage boys whom Mohammed ordered slaughtered / beheaded with all the Men / Fathers.....AND all the daughters and Mothers who were taken as sex-slaves ....because "they were evil people" that Muhammed did not like..!? What about alle the other people Muhammed did not like? Those he tortured and killed? Never mind...! I would never expect an honest and historically correct answer about the terror- and conquest-movement islam, from a follower..!

@@person10 as a fellow muslim my advice is that fitnah is common we are in the end times its evident from the hadith.
The fact is if you think killing the leaders will resolve peace and spread islam your wrong.prophet muhammed(saw) before he spread dawah recieved revelation and prophethood
He did not kill the people ho oppresed even if he had the might to do so. Allah(swt) the almighty who wiped out the entire tribe of Nuh(pbuh) with a simple flood. The one who killed the nation of Ad who were people who carved entire MOUNTAINS just to make homes. And kept making luxurious homes like these as if there childsplay defeated by mere Rain storms.
      Coming to the point....
Despite an army despite God he did not kill the people who said "no"/rejected the religion or those who bullied the prophet(pbuh) and spread it by showing it with his actions.
Another point killing the leaders would only display to the disbelivers in islam as harsh people desperate for power
We must be think better and this. Yes the massacre of islam now and the deaths of so many lives lost is frustrating that we cannot act upon it. But we can show to the world our TRUE behaviour that the deen teaches us. NOT the behaviour you see from the so called "muslims" by name who try to dishnour the name of a muslim by spreading the falsehood and what is not in the deen
I am but a almost 17year old boy. Seeking the truth and knowledge of the right path and i had found it.
May Allah guide you and me as well as everyone of us to a straighter path than where we are

When you study something thoroughly and deeply, you begin to understand it's secrets. Nouman has studied the Quran so thoroughly and so deeply and for so many years... that he understands it. Now, the explanation/answer to the verse is not easy and obviously he didn't make it up in just 2 seconds. What is the difference between 1400+ years ago and now? Then there was a Messenger, now there isn't a Messenger. If you're missing the whole point, please watch this video again and then read this comment. Hand on your heart and keep a broad mind, I promise that you'll understand. So, the term "Kill them where you find them"... is no longer applicable in today's world and society. But, why do some extremists use this verse as an excuse? Here's why... corrupt intentions! Thank you, Nouman for explaining this so beautifully.

+mac whirley These people were oppressed, tortured and killed by their own people and they decided to take their land back. And when a prophet is rejected in the flesh they get punished by God eg. flooding of land with Noah, town sinking into the ground. and I'm not sure but I think that's believed in all Abrahamic religions and in Islam it's believed that the punishment was the Muslim army and that command to kill was those who fought against them. it was for that case ONLY, when there is no messenger in the flesh there is no punishment (all explained in the video).
With that said these Lunatics have no reason to commit such horrible things.
and even if for any bizarre reason they do have the right to do so, when engaged in war they are not allowed to kill any child, woman, elder, sick or anyone in places of worship.
No destruction of cities, towns, villages or spoil cultivated fields and gardens. Anyone who doesn't cause any harm shall not be harmed. Avoid mutilation and striking the face. Among many other laws.
In a verse in says killing an innocent soul is like killing the whole of humanity and it is a sin to commit suicide. And I think it's a safe bet to say that these terrorists have done all these things.

I understand you believe your prophet was acting in self defense. Let me make myself clear. I do not believe your prophet got any instructions through an angel name Gabriel from a supernatural all powerful all knowing all benevolent creator of the universe to kill anyone. Muhammad and his Muslim army were just another warrior tribe in the Arabian dessert of the 7th century. They were just as brutal as any other tribe of their time.
Do yourself a favor and research for yourself. We live in the age of the internet where all knowledge is there at our finger tips. Don't be afraid to free your mind of this ancient superstitious dogmatic nonsense of Islam and its irrational reconciliation with its abhorrent past.

No religion has the right to take over an entire city, state or country and make people either convert, leave or die. This is why the United States exists, so that people can be free to either worship as they see fit, or decline to worship at all, and still have the right to live in a place, work there and raise their families with fear of reprisal or sanctions. I am a Baptist missionary who lives and operates in a 95% Mormon community in Idaho, and I live, work and play here, as well as witness my faith openly, and I am never mistreated or left out of community functions, or threatened to convert or die. You see, Mormons are Americans and Americans are superior to most people in the world in one respect, we don't believe that our faiths or lack of faith as it were are so weak and powerless that they can't stand criticism, and we don't believe that someone offering a different perspective represents a significant danger. If a Mormon decides to become Baptist, their friends and families are saddened and disappointed, but they, just as Baptists understand that man has a free will and should be allowed the opportunity to explore truth as they see fit. This is not so in Muslim dominated countries. If a Muslim finds truth or possible truth in another faith, he or she must explore that underground, and if they are caught, they are beaten, tortured and killed just because they feel presently that Islam may not be the truth. If your religion is so weak and powerless that man must punish in God's stead, then maybe you should consider that it may not be true, after all.

The fallacy lies in supposition that the Non-believers were wicked.
If a Non-believer by definition is evil then killing himself and ultimately hell anyway that is a product of an unjust, evil God.
Even in a hypothetical situation in which Non-believer is wicked and evil; killing them is immoral.
There is no hypothetical context, circumstance, interpretation which makes that verse anything but evil itself.
    The verse is inherently obscene.

Are you joking or are you just that uneducated about Islam? This verse refers to the Badr battle, where about 300 Muslims were facing about a thousand Meccan soldiers. They were in WAR. This was the first battle the muslims had to fight, when the Maacans attacked Medina. They were vastly outnumbered and impoverished. 300 against a 1000. Plus they didn't have much ammunition and rides. You have no idea what you're talking about.
The full verse is as follows:
Your Sustainer inspired the angels (to convey this His message to the believers) : "I am with you !" And to give firmness unto those who have attained to faith: "I shall cast terror into the hearts of those who are bent on denying the truth; strike, then, their necks and strike off every one of their finger-tips!" (Quran 8:12)
This verse, and help from angels, were meant to give confidence to the badly outnumbered Muslims to fight against the Meccan army.
      The Muslims won this battle.

so the choice is: submit to Islam, leave or die?
If you want to worship the Abrahamic God I recommend Christianity. It has a lot more to offer in terms of positive harmony and kindness. Unfortunately, Islam is predominately about domination and how to behave in war. The New Testament is about how to become people of love, forgiveness and kindness.
I think this is the reason why Christianity is superior to Islam and always will be. There's no hope for Islam because there's simply none of it which can be utilized in modern society.

mac whirley There is truly so many problem with the religion of Islam. Unfortunately, this force of conversion is only going to get worse. If you notice Muhammad was accepting of living with other faiths until the Muslims numbers grew. When they were enough to go to war that is when he would force conversions...smh. They are doing it in Europe now and will bring it to the US. ISIS is not lying when they say this. Christians must prepare to be slaughtered by them as they beheaded those Ethiopian Christians in Libya and Egypt. We will soon be next.
Once they become the majority we will not be able to live with them peacefully unless we submit to their will. Islam, Submission to the will of the muslims, not God.

Keep in mind that the Quran doesn't specify anything in case of those disbelievers who should be killed right away, except that the killing should be avoided near the Masjid, so the order to search and kill is directed to every Muslim, and applies to any disbeliever, who don't want to convert right away, while the exile is a different case, which applies only to those disbelievers who chased you out, instead of killing you, so it's only an act of gratitude.

  •  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Just an anecdotal point, It is strange that when the West went to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, those who they fought were not in uniform (as there was no condition for them to do so and mainly the populous rose against the invaders) were given the status as non-combantonts, which then offered them NO Protection under the Geneva Conventions regarding to prisoners of war, supposedly the West upholds its own moral codes. They were for the most tortured kidnapped and imprisoned without any recourse to Western jurisprudence or any other moral codes of human justice or even divine, as we know there was also what was term Extraordinary Rendition, which clearly was equal to kidnapping. Conversely, the Quran does not distinguish with regards to being a soldier in uniform or not, what is explicit is whether you are a fighter or not. The other point i make is there is a reactionary retribution against the instigators of war by muslims Indeed, the regulation of war is there to be followed by the Ummah. In the following i make no personal point of view, but only verbatim have i included the extract from the Holy Quran.
I have always had a preference to Mohammad Marmaduke Pickthall's translation especially as it seems to me a purer translation and true to the meaning in Arabic. I have copied these in reference to my brother Hijab quotation.
    2:191
Marmaduk Pickthall Translation: And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers
    2:192
Pickthall: But if they desist, then lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
    2:193
Pickthall: And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah. But if they desist, then let there be no hostility except against wrong-doers.
    2:194
Pickthall: The forbidden month for the forbidden month, and forbidden things in retaliation. And one who attacketh you, attack him in like manner as he attacked you. Observe your duty to Allah, and know that Allah is with those who ward off (evil).
    2:195
Pickthall: Spend your wealth for the cause of Allah, and be not cast by your own hands to ruin; and do good. Lo! Allah loveth the beneficent.
I would look closely to the following verse 2:194 and the caveat which is explicit. But adhering to Covenants not discussed are also explicit.

What about the thing about not being able to compell someone to religion and then threatining them with exile or death unless they convert?

I expect a better explanation for this controversial verse. I was prepared to be convinced that the verse is not as violent as I thought. The defence from Muslims themselves should be able to provide a moral justification for this. However, I find Khan’s argument seriously flawed. First, Khan mentions the “punishment” for unbelievers in the era of ancient prophets, e.g. Noah - where God punished unbelievers through the nature (flood, raid, and typhoon). Moreover, Khan claims that Allah in the Koran gives the right to punish the unbelievers to the soldiers of Muhammad. Khan should explain why in the era of later prophets e.g. Yunus (Jonah), Ayub (Job), Zakaria (Zechariah), Yahya (John) there was no any order to kill or slaughter anybody who did not believe in these prophet’s messages. Even Jesus himself - which is considered as prophet in Islam - never harms any human being or order his adherents to retaliate evil with evil. God himself has renounced the order to slaughter the unbelievers long time before the coming of Jesus. It culminates in the coming of Jesus, whose message was anything about God’s mercy and compassion. Returning to the ancient era of prophets when slaughtering unbelievers considered as heavenly order does not correspond to God’s revelation history. Second, Khan says that the unbelievers were given 40 days to consider if they want to accept Islam, leave their home town or be killed. Suppose you are a poor man who believe in your heart that Islam is false, if you still want to live the only option that you have is - to accept Islam. Since you are poor, you and your family cannot leave your home town to move to other safe place, then you have no choice but converting to Islam involuntarily. That’s why this order only confirms the history of Islam and forced conversion. Thirdly, Khan contradicts himself by saying in 3:07 that “nobody should be oppressed for what they believe, no matter what it is”. This notion seems only apply to Muslims when they were persecuted. As they hold the power, they don’t apply this notion to the unbelievers. Muhammad only provided two options: leave or be killed. To conclude, even after putting it (kill them wherever you find them) in the context, the verse is not morally correct at all. As a matter of fact, it demonstrates its violent and intolerant nature.

I have a straight question here Sir.
I hope it doesn't offend any believer.
First of all why did Prophet(PBUH) go to any other territory and try to convince people to follow his religion?
I believe that people in a certain area must be having their own believes, then why poke them with something new that they don't want to follow? Moreover he took it to the edge and threatened them to their lives.
Religions are made to give guidance for a peaceful life.

Shefali Gautam He did not go to any other territory to convince ppl.He strtd preaching in his own home.n always spoke the truth abt revelations.whn ppl strtd to accept Islam bc of his good teachings the rich Arabs who were losing their importance n money wanted to kill Muhammad n his followers. They had to face many hardships, many were starved to death n killed. Finally they decided to migrate from Makkah to Medina. The ppl in Medina had already accepted Islam n welcomed the prophet with love..

      @fsu5555 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Shefali Gautam The Arabs worshipped idols n asked the poor ppl to give all their hard earned money to the idols as sacrifice, liqour, prostituting Wer common.Girls were buried alive,Black Wer made slaves n considered as lowest of all.when Qur'an was revealed to them prophet questioned all these activities n gave blacks a higher position, freed slaves, commanded ppl to stop killing girls as they are a blessing from Allah..the disbelievers couldn't stand this n they waged a war against him.. Muslims waged war only to defend themselves n whenever the disbelievers broke the peace treaty..

9:5 Slay the idolaters wherever you find them.
9:6 Those who submit and convert to Islam will be treated well. (Those who don't submit will be killed. See previous verse.)
9:7-9 Don't make treaties with non-Muslims. They are all evildoers and should not be trusted.
9:11 Treat converts to Islam well, but kill those who refuse to convert (see 9:5).
9:12-14 Fight the disbelievers! Allah is on your side; he will give you victory.
9:23 Don't make friends with your disbelieving family members. Those who do so are wrong-doers.
9:29 Fight against Christians and Jews "until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low."
9:33 The "Religion of Truth" (Islam) must prevail, by force if necessary, over all other religions.
9:41 Fight for Allah with your wealth and whatever weapons are available to you.
9:42 Those who refuse to fight for Allah (claiming they are unable) are liars who have destroyed their souls.
9:73 Fight the disbelievers and hypocrites. Be harsh with them. They are all going to hell anyway.
9:81-83 Those who refuse to give their wealth and lives to Allah will face the fire of hell.
9:85 Those who refuse to fight for Allah will be treated (along with their children) as unbelievers.
9:111 Believers must fight for Allah. They must kill and be killed. Allah will reward them for it.
9:123 Fight disbelievers who are near you, and let them see the harshness in you.
The religion of peace, Yeah right!?

+журналист wow you seriously know nothing about islam,if islam taught us to kill all the non-believers why aren't all the non-muslims dead?there are more than 1.5 billion muslims, shouldn't atleast have the population have been killed by us?i dont think you even saw the video which explains the verse.many of the ayats were revealed during the time of war to our prophet(pbuh) just for them. Also 1400 years ago it was legal to marry 9 year olds just like it was legal to marry 15 years old a few decades ago.and 1400 years ago girls would reach puberty at an earlier age than now.atleast do some proper un-biased research instead of just googling quran ayats without knowing the actual meaning.May Allah(swt) guide you.

hashim khanzada Because Christians in Europe used science to learn how to defend themselves. All the Christian communities that did exist throughout the Middle East (which was Christian before Islamic conquests!) no longer exist. They have been systematically *wiped out*, just like like Muhammad preached and practiced (wiping out a whole Jewish tribe). The last one that remained in Syria just fled after their priest was *beheaded* by your fellow followers of the "religion of peace".

    Quote
"There are so many verses in the Quran that are just insane.
They are meant to promote division, hate, violence and much more evil behavior.
It's crystal clear these words in the Quran do not come from our creator and I can't believe people do not have the minds to see this.
Some people of mankind have steeped so low in thinking power."

      Surah Al-Mumtahina, Verse 8:
Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice.
      Alright............
