Hi Peter, wondering if you could help me out, I found in my 500e that the coolant hose made contact with the radiator fan (on the left side when you look down at the fan), and caused it to leak. I am wondering if the hose was secured wrongly. I can see it is clipped to the front panel on the left side of the fan but noticed this clip is larger than the hose, and it might actually better fit the larger hose that runs next to it. I'm wondering if you could check your car to see which hose is clipped to it, the larger smooth hose or the smaller ribbed hose. Mine has the ribbed hose clipped and is the same hose that runs across the fan, where the left edge of the fan wore thru the hose and caused it to leak. Thanks a lot
Main dealers get real funny about you touching the car while it’s under warranty. Technically, they can invalidate your warranty if any work is done on the car outside of the dealer network workshops. I wouldn’t mention it to the dealer if you have any significant warranty left
I might be out of date with my info then. I worked in main dealers 2001 to 2003 and that was the situation at the time. If a vehicle had been touched by anyone other than approved dealer network and there was a significant warranty claim at any point later, the manufacturer rejected the claim as it was in the T&C’s. That legislation must have come in after I left the trade

no worries, I had a better look today and I think it is correct that the ribbed hose is clipped there (the clip that is to the left of the fan if you're looking from the front of the car) Nonetheless, would appreciate if you could check if your car is the same, whenever you get the time. I noticed the fan mount has a cutout on the bottom left to route the ribbed hose there so it must have been designed that way, no idea why they would do that and I wonder how much clearance your hose has from the edge of the fan, mine evidently had none haha. I have patched the hose best I can with self fusing silicone tape, will try to vacuum fill coolant tomorrow and get the hose spaced away from the fan! @@theweekthatis
update: well I am completely stumped, I mounted the vacuum device on the reservoir but was not able to pull a vacuum (not even moving the needle) and I checked and rechecked the vacuum was working and seated properly. I looked everywhere I could for another leak but couldn't find any. I ended up filling with about 1L of distilled water with the car started. The pump was running and it dropped the water level some but after 5 minutes the car shut down and now it wont start again. Shows the messages "Service Electrical Vehicle System" and "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". I could find no water leaks. I'll try again tomorrow, its ok to reset the system by disconnecting the 12V battery right?
@@huskytwo9686 the correct procedure is to bleed via vacuum. If there’s any hint of a leak, it’s important to make sure that coolant isn’t leaking into the traction battery.
Ah ye good video Peter and well spotted on the rear hub 🤙
Thank you! Hopefully that's all the problems spotted before the trip!
What is the driving range on that, are you going to do vids on your stops

I noticed a lot of incorrectly clipped things on my 500e. Seems a bit ‘thrown together’. Your issue rings a bell too.
I’ll put it on the ramp and take some photos for you if that helps?

Total rubbish. Sorry. Look into the block exception regulation.
I did also buy the part from the dealer (not that I had to under the legislation), so I'm sure they will be fine

Yes, I’ll have a look, but I actually moved stuff around as it was laid out poorly from the factory and stuff was rubbing.
