  • This video is just for fun. Although, the results are real and the review is honest.
I saw many things on the Internet about this particular bike. Many accusations of the chain repeatedly falling off. It was alarming. When Mitch told me that he got one I was a little concerned because the Internet wouldn’t lie. I told him he was screwed. I said you better bring rubber gloves on every ride because your going to be touching more grease than a heavy duty mechanic.
Please enjoy Mitch taking you through the second ride on the Trek Slash High Pivot and also the results of this very scientific test. It’s not just a regular bike ride down a local trail. It’s science.

A 2mm spacing difference apparently was the culprit for the chain dropping. Haven't heard much about the Pirelli tires (ridden atleast in the PNW), what's the early consensus?

Interesting. I never saw that explanation. Was that Pinkbike or that Lewis Buchanan guy? Or Trek themselves?
Mitch is only two rides into those tires, both in pretty peak conditions. May be too early to really say. They do have some pretty aggressive, deep lugs though.

I work for trek and I’ve owned this bike for about 3 months, I can confirm that there was spacer issues on some of the early models sold. Unfortunately those were the bikes that the media got their hands on and had all of the chain drops. I do wish that Trek Corporate acknowledged this issue. Overall, it’s a great bike.

      They are getting rare.
This was technically “MitchIsGoingDownhill” which is far superior craftsmanship and definitely preferred by the viewers.😀

When Lewis Buchannon dropped chains he was pushing on a bit harder. Slower runs he was ok

As stated in the description, this video was just for fun and simply making light of the “controversy “. It’s no secret that Lewis Buchanan is hard on bikes. It’s also no secret that he is a top notch rider. His ethics and morals have come into question at times and some might say he hunts views like they are prey.
We didn’t pick a flow trail to try this out on. That trail is extremely rough with lots of square edge hits. But you are absolutely correct, the rider in this video (Mitch) was not riding as hard as he could or as hard as Lewis in his video. But he did put the bike through some heavy landings and Rocky terrain which would have thrown the chain if it did come off as easily as thought.
