I think my main complaint on this is that Morrigan of all people was being controlled by Pyron. Morrigan who's full power literally almost destroyed the neitherworld and the woman who rather go out and have fun than be confined by someone else's will.

Vampire Hunter / Nightwarriors was a sequel, it’s a different game from the original. Just because it uses tweaked assets from the first game doesn’t mean it’s a remake. It plays nothing like the original game.

What's sad, is I liked this show as a kid. It was amazing seeing a show with such an assortment of monsters. Then I saw the OVA and found out about the games, bought Nightwarriors and...the show turned into this turd in my eyes. I was like....why...why didn't they make it like the game? This is not just EVEN better but ALOT better.

you MUST watch the Virtua Fighter anime, its one of my favorite anime of all-time (i suggest you to listen it in japanese with english subtitles because for me the voices fit more with their personnality), really i love the personnality of Kagemaru in this anime (and like the others too but especially Kagemaru). And the story is very good and they even teach you how to do the moves.
I can even think Tekken, Dead or Alive, Samurai Shodown, Art of Fighting, Virtua Fighter, King of Fighters, Soul Edge, and Fatal Fury. That would be awful if they did a Saturday morning cartoon adaptation back in the 90s.
There's probably some weird alternate timeline out there where guilty gear got really popular in the USA back when it first came out, soon becoming a cheap cartoon like what happened with street fighter. Too bad that never really happened. Can you imagine how hilarious that would be?

The anime focused way too heavily on Donovan, who was very boring. This cartoon gave me some laughs and was enjoyable. One of my favorite childhood cartoons. And I have the entire series on DVD now, too.
I remember they aired this in Los Angeles at 5:30 AM on saturdays. I tried to wake up to see it but only go to the credits but one day I finally managed to get up early enough to catch an episode. I actually really enjoyed it but it aired way too early for me to get up so I gave up on it. I'm not saying this is a great show but at least it was decent for as kids cartoon back then. I wouldn't watch it again though because I don't want my nostalgia ruined by reality (like the Mega Man cartoon).
I love all these versions of great Capcom games, no, I really do. The theme to this one is awesome, Street's Fighter's theme is awesome too and so is the MegaMan theme. I love 'em. LOVE THEM. I only came across this show in it natural habitat once before. Ages ago, 4am, on my crappy 12in black and white set. For the longest time, I wasn't sure if it was real or not.
I can clearly say that this was one of the absolute worst video game based cartoons ever made. No wonder it never got renewed for a second season. This show failed miserably. I even go as far to say that the American Megaman cartoon wasn't as bad of a butchered cartoon as Dark Stalkers was. Strangely enough, this cartoon was what first introduced me to the franchise.
MDthornton83 I agree. The Mega Man cartoon was dumb at times, but was clearly made by people who wanted to tell a story in spite of the restrictions placed on them. Even when it was cheesy and inconsistent, it was competent and genuinely entertaining, if standard mid 90's fare. It doesn't hurt that the Classic series doesn't have as much of a story, making it easier to adapt. Darkstalkers, on the other hand, is irredeemable trash in which it is clear the people making this did not do the research. It seems like someone showed them the endings, a little gameplay footage, gave some very barebones infornation and told them to have at it . Maybe there was a time and money crunch, but given that the showrunners added an original character (who IIRC was originally going to be named Bobby Bridges, no less) as the main character, this show was ill conceived and horribly executed.

Here's the flaw with that theory--Morrigan goes quite some time without stealing people's life forces in the games and the anime, and doesn't become a withered hag. I think it was another case of DiC trying to remove the sexiness from the leading ladies of the series.

I live in NY and this came on at 5:30am Saturdays on Channel 5. I don't know why it came on that early though. Mega Man came on at 7:30am.

it wasnt bad quality art at the time. that was the cartoon style. us little american kids loved that shit. looking back at it now though, it really does look like garbage.

You know, if the animation was a little better and the station that would show it put it on at like 10:00 or 11:00 in the morning, then it would of had a second season like Street Fighter and Megaman did. Here in Cleveland it was shown on WUAB Channel 43 at 7:00 in the morning.
