I want to run, I want to hide I want to tear down the walls that hold me inside I wanna reach out and touch the flame Where the streets have no name I want to feel sunlight on my face I see that dust cloud disappear without a trace I wanna take shelter from the poison rain Where the streets have no name, oh oh Where the streets have no name Where the streets have no name We're still building then burning down love Burning down love And when I go there, I go there with you It's all I can do The city's a flood And our love turns to rust We're beaten and blown by the wind Trampled into dust I'll show you a place High on the desert plain Where the streets have no name, oh oh Where the streets have no name Where the streets have no name We're still building then burning down love Burning down love And when I go there, I go there with you It's all I can do Our love turns to rust We're beaten and blown by the wind Blown by the wind Oh and I see love See our love turn to rust We're beaten and blown by the wind Blown by the wind Oh when I go there I go there with you It's all I can do
I admit, I was expecting a terrible version of one of my favorite songs, but this is pretty good. Not super fond of her voice, but I love her version of the intro. :)
(A Hymn to my Demeter) TRANSLATED BY GREGORY NAGY She sat in the shade, under the thick growth of an olive tree, looking like an old woman who had lived through many years and who is deprived of giving childbirth and of the gifts of Aphrodite, lover of garlands in the hair. She was like those nursemaids who belong to kings, administrators of themistes, and who are guardians of children in echoing palaces.
She was seen by the daughters of Keleos, son of Eleusinos, who were coming to get water, easy to draw [from the well], in order to carry it in bronze water-jars to the phila home of their father. There were four of them, looking like goddesses with their bloom of adolescence: Kallidikê, Kleisidikê, and lovely Dêmô.
And then there was Kallithoê, who was the eldest of them all. They did not recognize her [Demeter]. Gods are hard for mortals to see. They [the daughters] stood near her and spoke these winged words: “Who are you, and where are you from, old woman, old among old humans? Why has your path taken you far away from the polis? Why have you not drawn near to the palace?
Yeah, I hear ya. But Vanessa's personal character; is higher and your musical talent; is in many ways more superior. Lady gaga, fame is more connected your shock factor; and her demonic undertones. (But that's just my opinion.)
This is good, she's a great singer, but it also made me realize why I like the cover by Thirty Seconds to Mars... Jared makes this sound much more profound than Mrs. Carlton.
That piano intro, wow.
Right..it's fire
This is the best cover version of any song that has ever been recorded.
Oh Vanessa , where are you when I need you ? What a semblance of passion and poetry. You are truly my drug of choice. All my love , Danny
this has got to be the BEST cover I've ever heard... of anything!

Cette chanson est incroyable, je souhaite qu'elle l'avait mis sur l'album.
I want to run, I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls that hold me inside
I wanna reach out and touch the flame
Where the streets have no name
I want to feel sunlight on my face
I see that dust cloud disappear without a trace
I wanna take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name, oh oh
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there, I go there with you
It's all I can do
The city's a flood
And our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled into dust
I'll show you a place
High on the desert plain
Where the streets have no name, oh oh
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there, I go there with you
It's all I can do
Our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Blown by the wind
Oh and I see love
See our love turn to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Blown by the wind
Oh when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do
Very different feel than the original, but interesting! I like it!
Really? It's on the European version of the album!!! Ugh! I'm French and I have the American version!!! This track is great!

Free of their word free of their touch free of the world. Look now

I remember hearing this when it was 1st released & thinking this is better than U2's version for sure
Free of their word
To be free of their word.
That's because this track is only on the European version D:!
And then there was Kallithoê, who was the eldest of them all.
They did not recognize her [Demeter]. Gods are hard for mortals to see.
They [the daughters] stood near her and spoke these winged words:

@1awareness x2
She's good but I'm not crazy about her pitch. I certainly can't do it but she seems to not get as high as she could.
Its warmer where I am free of their money
