Most people doesn’t know about this recipe
    But it’s awesome and good
    RECIPE
    3 cups of fresh blackberries
    1 cup granulated sugar
    4 oz butter
    1 tablespoons cinnamon
    1 tsp nutmeg
    1 tablespoons vanilla
4 cups pineapple juice or apple juice (juice preserves the natural fruit flavor)
    2 tablespoons cornstarch(FOR SLURRY)
    FOR THE DUMPLINGS
    3 cups flour
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 tsp nutmeg
    4 oz. butter
    4 oz. shortening
    1 tsp salt
    1 cup WHOLE milk
combine dry ingredients in mixing bowl
    cut in butter or shortening
add milk and mix until combined
roll out dough and cut in 2 in squares and place in hot blackberry filling mixture
very slowly a few at a time so they wont stick or fall a part
after all dumplings are in pot
cook slowly and add cornstarch slurry to thicken(if needed)

My aunt Gladys ( my grandmother's sister) used to make blackberry cobbler when I was a really young. The best thing ever. I'm glad you remind us to remain humble because a serious setback can knock us off our feet. Amen!

When I was about 4 years old I would come in with a tiny handful of wild blackberries and ask Grandma to make a cobbler, she would say that’s not enough berries, but she would do a small one for me. She never used sugar, but cane syrup my Grandpa made. Cooked on a wood stove, and she made the butter pie crust and drop dumplings. What an aroma! Thank you for stirring those memories. The wild berries are more tart but so much more flavor. She always told me to watch out for snakes, but I really didn’t snd would go into places I should not have. I do remember hearing that rattling sound the rattlesnakes make, but at that time did not know what it was. Guess the good Lord really does look after fools and little children.

Hi, I’m from Southwest Georgia. Recently I picked blackberries from my moms yard. She surprised me with a blackberry stew, same as dumping. She’s 77 and I had to show her this video. Boy did she look and smile, but she wanted to see your face. 😁. My grandma lived to be 103 and I miss this dish so much coming from her hands. I ATE 98% of my blackberry stew. So glad I came across your video. Your funny, smart, and definitely a server. Thanks and I wish you all around blessings and prosperity 👏💐

Thank you for the walk down memory lane!! My grandparents were raised in the 1920's & they raised me since I was four years old. We had a small produce farm & grew or caught most of what we ate. One of my absolute favorite treats was blackberry dumplings! Blackberries were one of the few things we didn't grow. But all around the creek out back, my cousins & I would pick buckets of blackberries. Helping Granny make chicken & dumplings was always a chore. But making blackberry dumplings was always the sweetest reward! Your recipe is almost identical to hers. She didn't care much for cinnamon in the sweet dumplings but everything else was exactly the same! Now I need to make this asap!!

Is there anything better than blackberry cobbler? Oh my. We went to visit my Grandmother when I was a child. She sent me home, when vacation was over, with a whole blackberry pie. I ate the pie, from the pie plate it was in, with a spoon, for two days! I didn’t spill a drop. I also don’t remember sharing it with mom and Dad. That was’t too nice, but after all, she made it just for me! 😜. Thank you for this recipe. It’s a winner, I can tell.

I love you and your videos.I have been looking up many of your videos. You make it seem so easy. When I was young I sat with my nana who was from the south, she taught me everything. We canned peaches, made rhubarb marmalade and jelly. We made biscuits that has to rise etc. I often wonder what even happened to my cooking. This channel is marvelous. Please don’t stop.I can feel your spirit when you talk.I pray God continues to bless you to continue to bless us with both cooking and inspiration. Be Blessed
