    It saves a lot of time to just plant them directly in the growing container. I'm getting older and don't want to transplant if I don't have to. Potatoes are one crop that benefit from sowing directly in container.
    Easy gardening & composting is my motto.

    Great idea with good results, but some of the potatoes are green. You need to plant the potatoes lower in the ground and as the plant grows, add more dirt. Also, to avoid bruising the fresh potatoes, dump the container over and separate it that way to prevent peeling the skin of the potatoes with your fingers as you remove the dirt. That’s in case you want to heal them and store the long term. But overall, I’m so very happy for you, thank you for sharing.

ONLY THE SOIL KNOWS THE SECRET OF HOW THE SEEDS PLANTED IN IT GROW AS TREE , AND PRODUCE VERITIES FRUITS , FOOD FOR ALL CREATURES , ACTUALLY WE ALL ARE DESTINED TO BE TOP SOIL . SOIL IS SO PRECIOUS MORE VALUABLE OR EQUALLY VALUABLE LIKE WATER, AIR, FIRE, AND SPACE .

      AND if you look at The Message Bible translation, it says “Until you return to that ground yourself, dead and buried;

    A good way to grow potatoes! You may have needed to keep the mulch on the soil or add more of the rice husks as the mulch disintegrated as potatoes grow better in the soil without exposure to sunlight. There is a guy who covered his soil with cardboard to prevent the sun from getting on to the potatoes! Also there are videos which show persons placing the potatoes at the bottom of the container and adding the soil as the plant grows! It may mean that they get potatoes of different sizes as some potatoes form later than others.

      @@Lulu-vi4wb NO, they will continue to green up. And can be deadly toxic to humans. People have died from eating potatoes that are green. There is to much green on these potatoes to be safe. Tubers need to be hidden completely as they grow from any sun to be safe. This is why farmers bury them deep and let the tubers grow on the stem. Any top potatoes that have green are not kept for humans to eat like these potatoes are.
      In a container you put 4 inches of dirt, lay the potato down and cover one inch. As the plant grows you keep covering the stem with dirt so it can see out lots of tubers. { more potatoes than this}.Once you reach the top of you pot that will be all the room you have for potatoes. The stem grows your potatoes. This method you only get a few inches on the bottom, few inches of stem.
      If you are field garden growing set up, dig a ditch a foot or so deep. Mine are usually around 18 inches deep. Put loose soil in the bottom, lay down the potatoes in your row, cover one or two inches of dirt, as the plant stem grows up, cover 4 inches of dirt as it grows. If it grows 5 inches cover to the top leaves 4 inches. Always leave some leaves out of the dirt. Always keeping the tubers covered from sun. If you use straw you still have to have the darkness of the dirt to keep them safe to eat.
      You will have some green on potatoes at the very top of the plant stem that could get out of the dirt. DO NOT eat these. If you don't keep up with the stem growth and covering up the stems , you will have green potatoes under the ground as well. So keep up.

      @@darren8879 Many people plant the potatoes too shallow. There should be at least 5 inches. or 12 cm of soil on top of the mother tuber to prevent greening. I therefore find the potatoes unsuitable for cultivation without plowing. Green potatoes are not healthy.

      I will simplify it, dig a hole throw a potato in. They are the easiest thing to grow. The only thing I liked about this video was doing them in containers. Growing potatoes if easy however harvesting them is a pain. Unless of course you can dump out a container and sift through the soil.

    Those green potatoes can make you sick. Plant them deeper and put more straw. Also why transplant. Just plant them where you want them to start with. But good yield for sure. I grow mine in grow bags and just tip it over on a tarp so I don't damage the skins by brushing them so much. They are delicate until they age and harden off a little.
