L. Vijayalakshmi is b. SC. Beautiful, talented. Kavirikarinorathile dance is unconquerable. She should get national award for that. Adaludanpadalikettu, azhaghanmuruganidam, kavirikarinoratile. Sumithangi. Underutilised. Unsung heroine. Jaishankar is not a match for her, except he had established himself. In avanaivan it was vasanthi. In bommai it's vijayalakshmi. Balachander was sentimental to letter v?

Superb classic thriller film with a twist at the end. Saw this film decades ago, but it is worth seeing again. S Balachander's directing style is unique. His directing and acting in the film makes it special. This is the first time I have seen a director personally introducing the cast and crew at the end of the movie. Unfortunately he is under-rated and under-utilised, having directed only a few films. Chk out his other film titled Avana Ivan, another classic thriller.

Lakshmirajam is a beautiful actress. Unfortunately, she got small roles. Yarnee, Avanaivan, bommai, idhayathilnee. But when balachander takes in his movies, it's a plus for her.

This is a great movie! The genre is quite mixed (confusing for Indian Audience) comedy, drama, thriller or "masala"? The same confusion was seen in his 1oo th movie direction using Simran and Madhavan in which Simran was seen throwing the Thali. In Avargal he was afraid of treating the Thali the same. (But Tamil cannot accept such treatment of the Thali). The point I am trying to drive is that he was ahead of the times the movie came out. Great meaningful songs - The Bomai song sung by the blind beggar is true in even today. The movie is also reflective of the stage production that KB was involved at the same time the closing credit is how stage shows are closed. KB has given meaty roles for women in the movie. If the same movie is remade today it can be great success. For some reason KB was introducing the idea of ppl taking what is not theirs and the risks it comes with. Probably it is an experience he had seen in life. KB also looked very different in his younger days.... RIP KB.
This film is done by Veenai S Balachander ( not by K Balachander).
