If he had asked her to stay he would live with doubts and it would be hard to trust her. Sometimes the better decisions are harder to make, if she cheats even once dump her
The sad thing is that he obviously cared about her. The tragedy is that she lost someone who cared about her, but he didn't lose someone who cared about him.
Its best to let her go, if she stayed then he's going to second guess everything she does or says, and never trust her, and he will be labeled as being insecure.

Yeah... The only way there could be a chance is if she had come forward, preferably as soon as possible (like the next day or the day after), because that would show she immediately realized her mistake and wanted to come clean right away, regardless of the consequences.
But since he caught her and had to bring it up then she probably doesn't care, specially if all she said was along the lines of "It's a mistake. I'll never do it again.". Or if she does likes him, she was still trying to get away with it, which shows lack of character and honesty, which in my opinion is reason enough to dump her.

One thing I don't understand, if you truly love someone and believe you belong with that person, why would you cheat in the first place? I honestly think if you cheat on someone, you don't truly love them, you might like them a lot, sure, maybe just as much as you liked another past boyfriend or girlfriend (before the breakup ofc), or maybe the relationship is convenient, but if you're with "the one" I really doubt you have any reason to cheat. But hey, what do I know? XD

I’m sorry that happened to you. It doesn’t matter if you were together 1 year, 1month or 2, cheating will break the most confident person down. It starts to make you questions your worth, your value, and who you are in general. Never allow yourself to give another person that power. It’s hard to walk away especially when you sincerely loved someone and perhaps it will make you more cautious when around another person you think you may “like”. But it’s absolutely 100% not the end. You only feel this way because you learned the truth about who your partner is, and truth hurts. But the best part out of all of this is that there are so many people out there and you know that somewhere someone is waiting for a person like you and perhaps they may be sharing a few scars of their own. Keep your chip up.

And he's mentioned his cheating and immaturity in not realizing he could have and should have just left. But now he's learned that he was able to do it because he wasnt with the right person. Now he is and cant imagine ever putting her through that. That's why when people say things like... "s/he stole him/her from me" it's like... nope, s/he didn't want to be there.

If she does that before your married then she doesn't love you as much as you do her. That's not a mistake, she knew exactly what she was doing and thought she could get away with it. A Cole World , actually the same happened to me. We were just about to get married and I discovered him that he cheated on me with not only 1 girl but 3 girls. I collapsed in the living room and woke up in the emergency center. It was really hard to move on from someone you stayed together like almost 4 years but it's just a matter of time and we need to give a time to ourselves to overcome the past. To wait for the best, and this man seems to be really lost which normal but again as you said he needs to pray God for the best. It's just a chapter in his life.
