I'm glad I'm not the only one that laughs out of pure joy, when hearing something so awesomely talented. Everyone asks me what's so funny when watching different bands live
A girl in late teen will put India on Jazz-Rock world map, who would have thought? Mohini Dey makes a country of Billion people immensely proud! More power to her!
Completely super human talent here. If this came out in the late 60's early 70's era this would have been popular around the globe instantly, but because we live in a time where popular music revolves around young adults just wanting to have fun. (Sort of a metaphor there if you can catch it) I want to see talent like this on tv every day. And I want to hear talent like this on the radio everyday. And it's never there.
Mohini not only is killing it here she’s able to effortlessly play with who many consider to be one of the finest musicians in the world and maybe the greatest electric guitar player who’s ever lived. So awesome.
Debashish. ARR's music is anything but this. No comparison in music style, but the fact that she plays for ARR doesn't contribute anything to way Mohini Dey has put India on the Jazz Rock world map. I have seen her both in ARR setting as well as settings like these - two diff animals. Just saying.
Mohini Dey, making India proud. The perfect example of a modern Indian independent woman. And also insanely talented and hard working because talent on its own is not enough. Was fortunate to see her live at NH7 Shillong. More power to you lady!
Mohini makes me proud and I'm not Indian, she has achieved a top level musicianship in the world, she is not only a great Jazz/Rock bassist she is also extremely well versed in Indian music. God bless Mohini Dey, God bless India.
This might be one of the most thoroughly amazing performances I have ever seen. The guitar work, the bass, the drums; everything is in nearly equal measure of absolute insanity.
The first time I saw Guthrie play (here on TH-cam, with the Fellowship back in the UK), I could literally "see" guitar-god - something in the way the man handles the instrument, a kind of relaxed and carefree (but not careless) abandon. It's the kind of control and confidence that comes from natural aptitude plus all the woodshedding years, plus the requisite immersion in musical theory.
In terms of purely guitar ability, versatility, tone, etc. then yep I agree. Best tones in the business imo. Steve Morse is also one of the "ultra-elite"
gummball Guthrie’s incredibly good technically & his note choice is beautiful, but musically speaking he’s not come close to achieving historical greatness like Hendrix, Satriani, Eddie & Vai for example. Probably down to his musical compositions and not so popular musical style. They all innovated the guitar to new heights, where Guthrie is just great at mixing it all together. Best modern player still, no doubt!
Mohini Dey makes the Indian Nation proud by her talent. From a country of billion people Mohini Dey makes us proud at international music scene. More Power to talented women.
@@trentwaterman7049 she might be a new name in the West, but she is pretty famous in the Indian subcontinent which is like more than 25% of world population. Also she plays with Rahman ji too. Which already makes her someone among the top for many people.
Utterly marvellous. Fabulous bass player, lovely tone and ideas. Guthrie sounds like he's enjoying playing with her - although he is always supremely tasteful, supportive and encouraging when backing up others playing. I'm not surprised the audience is excited, and they're not just being noisy, they're reacting to what's exploding on the stage. I also hate people being noisy if they're not listening, but nothing untoward here. Maybe you should get into classical if you want a silent crowd..
This is transcendent musical talent! Sharing with us an incredible journey through ad-lib in-the-moment expressions of fine tuned listening and support for others among stunningly delivered mental gymnastics. Kudos
Everytime I watch Guthrie - I am just so Blown Away. I only felt that way watching Allan Holdsworth & Al DiMeola Live. G.G. is a Fire-Breathing Dragon.
+sambudan phonglo I totally missed it. I never knew THE great Guthrie ever came to India let alone the north east where im from. Please invite him again and next year i will spend any amount to see him!
Your festival is awesome. You have quality acts coming to perform. No weather should be a problem for you. All the best for future editions of your festival. I hope to visit in the future and see some of the acts.
Every now and then when you are playing your guitar, and you play an improvised solo that goes o.k and you think to yourself "Hmm, that sounded pretty good!..." Then you are kicked into reality when you watch/listen to a Guthrie video or record. (or nowadays Max Ostro).
Guthrie Govan is my favorite comedian. Every time I hear him play, I howl with laughter at how ridiculously awesome it is.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that laughs out of pure joy, when hearing something so awesomely talented. Everyone asks me what's so funny when watching different bands live
That's makes three of us I first laugh then I get sentimental thinking I could never be like that then he surprises me again

the bass player and drummer are great musicians, thumbs up!
Pieter Mazur Mohini Dey plays for A.R.Rahaman
so is the camera man....:P
Stay Subscribed haha 😂😂

They're astonishing players!!

Except for those awful jeans always, I agree 100%. Massive talent.
awful jeans? she`s beautiful .
Yeah. She's beautiful; shame she's wearing those atrocious jeans.

That bass slays and kills, it sounds so good at 5:30+ with that slapping, I'm glad they didn't turn it down.
Totally amazing musicianship all round. I randomly clicked here from another video and couldn't tear myself away. Knockout stuff.
Excellent musicians... The trio. Love Mohini. An inspiring bassist and a humble person!
I have to take my guitar back to the store. It doesn't do that.
+Paul T. Lol time to get like him then .
Best funniest comment here!
neither does mine :-)
Nope, it's the brain. Guthrie is a monster, he can play with one hand better than most of guitarists ever can.
Its definitely defective. Quit practicing until you find one that works.
Mohini's bass playing sets some new standards ! She is simply sublime !!!!!!
Top ten guitar player with the top ten bass player in my opinion... and Mr.Banks rocks like hell
Um dos melhores guitarrista do mundo.... Sensacional!!!!
I know it's 'purely' subjective as to who the best guitar player is, but it's Guthrie
In terms of purely guitar ability, versatility, tone, etc. then yep I agree. Best tones in the business imo. Steve Morse is also one of the "ultra-elite"
Well said :)

Best improviser period
@1 1 I didn't know of Holdsworth back in the day but from what I see now on TH-cam he certainly was. Amazing guitarist
Fuuuuu!!!! This is EXQUISITE!!! Talent spreaded to blow everyone's mind away!
Mohini Dey makes the Indian Nation proud by her talent. From a country of billion people Mohini Dey makes us proud at international music scene. More Power to talented women.
Excelente Guthrie Govan como siempre. Me encanta Mohini Dey, sin dudas la Reina del Bajo!!!
I've never heard of the bass player before but DAMN she's good!!
David Jones listen more of her...She's a session musician so her catalogue is huge in terms of genre
Noone has ever really heard of the bass player, I don't think it's a real instrument. She must be a guitarist or something 🤔
@@trentwaterman7049 she might be a new name in the West, but she is pretty famous in the Indian subcontinent which is like more than 25% of world population. Also she plays with Rahman ji too. Which already makes her someone among the top for many people.

"Maybe you should get into classical if you want a silent crowd." Except in those live classical situations you always hear coughing and sneezing.
Mohini Dey endorsing ITC Classmate notebooks XD..
Kervin M promoting classmate exercise. 😂😂
The music copy from the theory classes (dilapidated from all the page turning)
I hope they won the local talent show
Actually brought to another dimension by . Mohini is such a bright talented girl , gifted .
This dude..omg. big fan of Guthrie Govan always
Guthrie and Mohini, you are both amazing!
dang.. and Mohini makes me cry. she's frickin awesome.
This is transcendent musical talent! Sharing with us an incredible journey through ad-lib in-the-moment expressions of fine tuned listening and support for others among stunningly delivered mental gymnastics. Kudos

Guthrie Govan is the greatest rock guitarist alive....PERIOD.

Finally guthrie got a bass player who matches his abilities on the guitar
+Athul Djentleman but not for permanent i guess.
Disagree....she was totally lost , didn't know what to do ....se started playing her well known tricks.👎🏻
time well spent
doesn't get any better than this.
amazing catch up with guthrie..proud to be indian
Man I myst have repeated the blues lick at 7:46 a hundred times. Reminds me of John Mayer a bit. Cant get enough of that.
Absolutely great playing, these are musical geniuses, you listen in awe.... but when it is all over you remember nothing of it.
This Is one of the best live I am watching on youtube... Amazing mind blowing

Mohini nd lead Awasome... Drummer is fab...
Geez... I don´t know how many times Ive watched this video, and this is the first time I realize how amazing Guthrie Govan´s shirt is xDxDxD
Nice catch 😁
Guthrie's precision and speed is just jaw-dropping. Dey is just the baddest bassist standing on two legs today. It's not up for debate.
Man I love those 8 note ascending tapping sequences guthrie threw in there. (2:13)
Fernando Moreno those were 8 notes?
Fernando Moreno nah at most 5 . 3 with the left hand and 2 with the right.
Those tappings are 16th notes, two for each hand at a time, in a 7/4 meter. I don't know what Johann Lop is talking about.
GrooveShredLearn that can’t be, he is playing 3 notes with the left not too.
@@johannlop1076 I checked the timestamp again and have to admit that we are talking about different sections, sry
I like the contrast between this trio and the aristocrats. Feels fresh.
I saw it live and it was awesome
I really like Guthrie's shirt!
sublime
she killed it
Love the crowd!!!
BRAVO!
Crazy! That's my home town!
blah blah ythen 3:30 comes up and the most funky pretty bassplayer on earth blesses our ears with that omg shit !!! holy efin goddess
was there at the show..... awesome af
That is the version of Sevens that I've heard. Probably also first time that it doesn't only sound like the studio recording note by note.
Mohini dey ...Nilanjana dostidar...when bengalis takes up a music instrument there is something awesome to happen
Ending part (9:21) here is better than the studio version. When I listen this, I pull the slider 4-5 times to hear the last 30 seconds.
I like all of Guthrie's live performances over the studio recordings
Mohini is GREAT BEAUTIFUL 🍾🥂💋
Way to go NIT Silchar 🤘🏻
-Love from NIT Surathkal ❤️
+Ajay Rao it was an awesome time there, but the rain has Disturbed the show.
Your festival is awesome. You have quality acts coming to perform. No weather should be a problem for you. All the best for future editions of your festival. I hope to visit in the future and see some of the acts.
christopher godin casually walking in the background xD
Just loved that magical tapping pattern he played in the beginning
Excellent 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love you mohini😘😘😘
Dang! she's so talented!!!!
hats off to that girl as well.
Thanks for posting!!!
LOVED that!!!!!
Outstanding, seems the violin is true to the style of music where 12 tone equal temperament is limiting, but possible
The bass chord at 4:37/38 is nice..
Her playing seems quite fresh, have listened to Guthrie so much already.
and the drummer too.
Fantabombalastik!
I was there awesome show but it was raining heavily
Fuck!!! How can i miss this opportunity
wow epic
Guthrie is not from another planet, he's from a different universe!
sick bass tone dude...and also great playing for these three beasts
Maravilhoso
gino banks is a rock
Was 1:34 possibly muscle memory? Like he reached for a pick that he had (not actually) put in his mouth in order to tap.
Eddie Burkhart nah.
emotive movement

Mohini dey I LOVE YOU
If i m not wrong... Mohini's father is also a renowned guitarist in Bollywood music industry. 🤗🤗
Bassist
Nice camera work
thank you, was in the crowd of 70-80 people dancing haha D) D) D) D)
Everyone moaning about the screaming, they weren’t there for your enjoyment haha. They’re having a good time, chill.
Le5Pau1 right, it was a Concert, not a clinic. Big difference.
😂😂
Woooooo!
that was siiiiiikkkkkkk!
Wow!
Living legends!!
