very nice job! I admire young folk who take the initiative to keep trying something new ;) > have you considered upgrading Emokeys by reducing the number OLED displays? -so right now, you have 9 OLEDs for 9 keys & as you're finding out, updating 9 displays isn't easy with all of the bitmap pixel data being shuffled around through serial. +instead, think about having 4 emojis per OLED... so you effectively have 4 buttons for each, activated by pressing on the OLED frame's corner instead of its center; anyway, not sure you check comments on your old posts but I figure this could mitigate the bitmap transmission delay (making the emojis monochrome would be another streamlining option though it won't look as fun). cheers & looking forward to your next creation!
Thank you for this thoughtful comment! Yeah, that’s a great suggestion of expanding the number of possible emojis accessible with a single OLED, I’d love to try implementing clickable corners next time.
the pi pico can do full speed usb & act directly as an HID device and with a lot of effort the pio controller could make refreshing the oled's really fast (only 260k ram though)
your content is mad underrated 😤, cheers from florida
Really cool project! Your video editing and story telling is very good. Post more quality videos like this, and your channel will blow up in no time.
