I thought if I watched the whole video that I would have context for his comment on his wife birthing him and her having more pain than birthing her children. But it still holds the same meaning. His lack of clarification for his comments shows a lack of leadership to me. There are broken women in his congregation that are going through broken relationships believing that the pain of the relationship is normal. They deserve clarification from their spiritual leader.

"The church’s key role in Black American lives has come partly at the expense of its devoted women (cf. Collins, 1990; Grant, 1982, 2004). Churches and the men who typically head them (Grant, 2004) emphasize the gender binary and patriarchal relationships. It is a response to the depiction of “black promiscuity and immorality” that “fueled racism.”

The comment I made is just to say people including Pastor Gray are in a healing process, and to "Trust GOD" to heal you. We are all trying to basically change and grow, basically healing is key as a part of that growth, it's important to do that on our journey of "Destiny and Purpose." We can't expect a "Human Being over GOD" to be everything we need. We have to surrender to the process it is detrimental to us, and that in GOD there is "NO FAILURE." GOD can Do and Give us everything we need. I was stating that GOD'S word "Will not return to him void" which is stated in the Bible. I do understand and agree with his side to an extent, along with other people's opinion. There are two sides to everything. Though, I can't speak on his marriage, because I am not judge and jury, GOD has authority over all. I don't know his wife's side, and even if I did, it's not my job to say what either party should be doing or how they should handle their marriage. They made a convenant with GOD and each other, not people, their obligation is to work on their marriage as they see fit. People are so judgemental. It states in the bible judge not, so you are not judged, condemn not, so you are not condemned. I love everyone of my neighbors, as I love myself. (Meaning all y'all making comments, regarding my comment) I can't call myself a Christian and not love someone, when they haven't done me any harm.(ie.People who say they don't like Pastor Gray or anyone else for that matter) When people do me wrong or say something wrong against me, I can dislike their action, but still be capable of loving the person. Especially if I want to have any chance of making it to Heaven. GOD sees all, knows all, and is all forgiving. I pray blessings, love, peace, wisdom, and understanding to each and everyone who speaks against me, because I know I am blessed and Highly favored, and no weapon formed against me will ever prosper.@Lola Bunny@Nik G@ladycapri3

He was raised in the church. They waited to have sex until marriage. He was 35!!! There is no pat on the back for putting her through pain so you could be elevated. This message is being pushed from pastors and men in general who never want to take the responsibility for their actions. She is younger than he is. She needed to be covered so she can cover their children. Spending 8 years of her life birthing him wasn’t her job. If she signed up for that then good for her but I doubt that’s how the life was presented. He should have been ready for marriage. Period. Ministering to women’s hurt and pain isn’t helping. Why not sit with a group of MEN and show them why this isn’t the way and why they should not put their women through pain to get to the other side!

The "Amen"s from the sisters from the "my wife birthed me" comments made me cringe. I love you ladies, but please don't promote weak ideals like that. The Bible says "when a man FINDS a woman he finds a good thing" meaning he needs to be prepared and ready to embark on something as serious as the sacred union of marriage by being a grown man & the "head of his house". Where is the logic that a strong leader needs to "birthed again" by the woman he is supposed to love as "Christ loves the church"? No! He is supposed to protect & provide as the two grow together. A woman should support her man, but i believe that a man should seek God's covering (not from his wife), but from God. Especially when this pastor selfishly benefited from 8 years of his wife's "birthing pain" when she could have been enjoying or preparing for more fulfilling/prepared partner.

  • @BySoleil
    @BySoleil 5 ปีที่แล้ว +22

Ok, I don't understand how Pastor John Gray is speaking for women or giving women the idea that they should be birthing men. He simply answered a question, that was his personal experience and story that does NOT apply to anyone. I felt like he was being transparent and honest about himself and the flaws he had... once he got married and became one "flesh" with his wife! A lot people think they know themselves but haven't been tested and most people THINK they are READY for marriage but truly aren't ! It is very tough especially if you don't have any idea what it's suppose to be like ( from a biblical standpoint) I commend him for honoring his wife and giving her the credit for putting up with him even when he wasn't deserving of it.(b/c let's real, your significant other is going to put up with the goods and bads about you no matter what) I agree 100% a Man SHOULD be ready for marriage, no doubt! However there's A LOT of men and women who aren't nor have the slightest clue to be in a commitment. Nothing wrong with learning a little late if you haven't learned at all. It's always encouraged for both men and women to be ready for a life long commitment that's going to take work! I don't think he's promoting anything but speaking his truth and I feel people are just taking it out of proportion by trying to imagine... being in his wife shoes that makes a lot of ladies raise the eyebrow. It was clearly not his wife job to mold him but through God ( he allowed the two to get married) he appointed her to be part of his and HER growth! I see no harm in this and it's a Great Message!

And even if God worked it together for their good, that still doesn't mean that he was in the will of God when he said "I do". Clearly he wasn't ready. And based on his own statement he knew he wasn't being honest about his issues and allowed a woman to walk into his mess. He should have stayed single until he was ready to lead.

People are mad about the men that used them and abused them and they are attacking John Grey. John Grey did not use and abuse his wife. Sounds like marriage uncovered the weaknesses he was unaware of and his wife, who had grown up with both parents, helped him as he worked to be better. Women scorned won't hear that message. They just hear what they need to hear to help them escape responsibility for poor dating choices.

So when they see and hear him speak what he spoke, they will relate and then possibly continue in false hope believing that their "men" will turn out just like him if they travail a little harder and just a longer. A boy child needs a father to learn how to be a husband and father. As much as women believe they can do it alone, the child has a need to see his father love his mother to know how to love his own mate. Grey identifies that sexual abuse and not having and seeing a father caused him to be broken in that part of the relationship. Since so many Black kids don't see their father loving their mother, the majority of people born after the 90s are going to be broken in relationships and either learn again or keep damaging future relationships.

It's a weight too heavy to bear. It's not ideal. You have to fix yourself. No one else is going to save you. And rehabbers just end up breaking themselves down. Who is going to fix you?

Many believers have forgotten this basic concept regarding covering one another, because we have set a standard of righteousness and feel we should expose every fault of any believer who doesn't live up to our standard. 1 Peter 4:8 says Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Let us all practice Christianity first and judge second. He basically was saying in spite of his shortcomings, she covered him through his growing pains, to help him become the man he is today.

Too many people that have never heard of John Gray or listened to one of his sermons are involved in this "viral conversation". He was becoming the man GOD needed him to be, and his wife was a part of that process - as ordained by God. His wife may have covered him, but God covered both of them, and ALLOWED this covering. He was not out in the world selling dope, cheating or being unfaithful to his wife. It's much deeper than that, but people are assuming that is what he means by "hurt". He was coming to an understanding of what God needed from his life, despite his flaws, and his wife covered him during this vulnerable period.

All of us over the age of 18 have experienced relationships AFTER the honeymoon period ends. It's the make or break phase when we must decide " do I want to deal with the real person that has emerged". That's what he's talking about. There are women, such as myself who had major issues & once our partners found out, they had to decide " do I stay or do I go?"
It's easy to judge Pastor Gray because he chose to put his life on national TV. My question to all of the haters is; What does your REAL self look like & has anybody ever loved you enough to "cover" you?

Many guys out here don’t want responsibility and don’t want to work on themselves and want to be raised by a grown woman because they never grew up. They are effeminate men and no woman wants to marry a weak man like this. Ps real women don’t need your materialism and money. If you think that’s what all black wines want no wonder why many black men get stuck with gold digger women. The focus is once again taken off Jesus Christ. Just cause Jesus name is mentioned a few times doesn't mean that Jesus is being lifted up in this interview. John gray is a weak christian and is a whack man, husband and minister. He has these women really believing that what he said is profound. It's not,it's unbiblical and humanistic. The way social justice can be obtained is for people to repent and surrender their life to Jesus Christ. The only way to overcome failure in your life on any level is to repent of sin and turn to Jesus putting your faith and trust in Him and be born again. And you don't find yourself by facing yourself, you need to find yourself in Jesus, looking to Jesus. He is talking new age, seeker sensitive, sissy boy mumbo jumbo. John gray is not a spiritually mature man or pastor. The bible makes it clear that the man is the head of the woman as Jesus is the head of the man. Women are not their husband's head, covering or lid. And if he had any sense,he would realize that a lid is a covering. Smh. And these women sitting there responding as if his whack sayings are powerful. They are weak!!!!! Read the bible and willfully obey they bible!!!! Jesus said if you love Me,obey My commandments. John Gray is promoting his whack book instead of giving the gospel to these ladies. He doing exactly what Marvin Sapp did on the Monique show some years ago and many other so called pastors do and did. Question John Gray did you tell trump he must repent and surrender his life to Jesus Christ???? Did you also tell the sister circle girls the same thing????? Dude you are ahab and your wife is jezebel. This interview was whack.

And then he quoted Martin Luther King jr. like really? King never preached the gospel he preached another false gospel. He was the Messiah and king for the people who didn’t want Jesus as their king. The man literally sung we shall overcome.... someday. Showing his lack of faith in Jesus who said when you believe in Him who overcome the world you overcome the world. Satan knows people no matter what color me a king and he knows fleshly people want a king that is a man. This is all ushering in the worship of the Antichrist who will come as a man and bring a false peace and hope to the masses. God said it clearly to Samuel... they (rebellious Israelites) don’t want me as their king so give them what they ask for. Nothing new under the sun. This of why people flock to pastors, cult leaders, and these manmade messiahs like Elijah Mohammed, malcolm x, Obama, and king. Ironically Martin’s last name is coincidentally king when Martin isn’t even his real name.... today he is still being worshipped on statues, street names, and holidays like Roman and American pagan gods and leaders. When and man’s legacy is elevated and not Christ that shows you the life he lived because Satan would never want a man of God to be well known and remembered. He really needs to pray and seek Jesus to teach Him. It’s the Holy Spirit that teaches a man how to be a father and husband. As a woman this is too much is disgusting to watch

Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Maybe, he's saying his wife helped to bring him where he needed to be spiritually! He wasn't spiritually mature. He said he is going to live the rest of his life honoring her! He should have elaborated more on this interview. At the end of the day, take it how you want to take it.

Most of the women on this post missed the point the man was saying because . The man is not glorifying his experience . He did not say that’s the right way of doing things . The reality is you will never find the Man U need . You have to help create the husband you require . Most men learn to be husbands on the job . We are not trained to be husbands . Most of us have no example in our lives of a loving husband in our mothers life . Most of grew up in single homes so most women will have to mould the man into the husband u want . That’ does not mean you put up with abuse or cheating etc . It just mean u accept the fact that the Man U get will be flawed and broken just as you are so you have to work with each other on the flaws .

My only thought when I first heard this interview was ... it sounds so patronizing. I hate it when men in the religious world seem like they are always catering to and playing on the emotions of women. There is something I don’t like about that. It feels like hustling women. It feels like being condescending to the intelligence of a woman to toy with their heart and desires.it feels like a head game. The whole women are everything good and men are broken objects or evil or bad beings that a woman always has to fix is just FALSE INFORMATION PERIOD.
Women and men came with all kinds of baggage, both sin and fall short of Gods glory, and just because genders handle things differently sometimes as a force of nature, still don’t make one gender “better” than the other!!
There are great men out there, and wonderful women.., and there are horrible men out there and treacherous women out there as well too. And if Good is attracted to the bad and devilishness in someone else in a relationship... are you really that good???
Some people relationships balance each other, some don’t. Some compliment each other, some don’t. Some couples grow together, some grow apart. Sometimes a person stays in a relationship, but the truth is they should have left a long time ago!! Others were in a good relationship with a wonderful person, but they took them for granted and left someone they should have stayed with, and someone else ended up with their blessings that they just gave away!!!
Stop patronizing women .. stop hustling women .. and just be real about life conversations across the board!!!!

I now have a better understanding of this video, i think he was misquoted. People did not really understand what light(message) he was trying to pass out. I was more impressed when he admitted that he wasn't completely healed before he got married. I know it's compulsory to be whole before you get married but he was not. That's his confession and message.
I feel it would have been better if he ended by saying "you need to heal completely before you get married so that you don't become a burden to your spouse" it would have made a lot of sense not all this criticisms.
Thanks sisters circle for the full video, i must say Pst. John Gray is really creative with words, God bless you for being honest. You may regret making that statement now because of the condemnation but you never know how many people learnt and healed from that video.
However, in your live video with Derrick Jaxn i must say your wife didn't do a good job handling the situation. The way she responded caused the message to be seen in a bad way.
