I used to think I was a terrible drawer. As a NY resolution, I challenged myself to learn to draw. Surprisingly, I've discovered I'm fairly good at using an app to guide me. This video helped me literally fill in the gaps and make my drawings appear more 'finished'. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Cool! I know you said to stick with one technique, but I think I might be able to find a way to combine them. It'll be fun to experiment with.

Thanks for this. I used to draw a lot, but it's been years and I shifted to digital art a long time ago (and even then before that, I was more into pencil illustrations) to accommodate my work. I recently got back into Moebius comics and Elfquest and it took me back to being a kid so i went and got some decent pens and then stopped and thought "Christ, I can barely remember the basics here!". This really helped as a good foundational refresher. quick and to the point. I'll start with just having fun doodling with these techniques in mind.

drawing and writing is about the only time I dislike being left handed.
Writing I get, since the hand tends to smear it out, but how is being left-handed a disadvantage when drawing? I've never had a problem with it. Cutting with scissors, on the other hand... *shudder*

Great video, very helpful. As for picking a style, not sure which. I like the idea of drawing intricate scenes, buildings etc, guess I will have to experiment to see what suits me.

Oddly I think I like the random lines best.
May I ask what paper to use when using these pens?
My lines spread like water blossoming across paper.
Is my paper too "spongey"?
Hi Derpy, I would suggest a paper like Bristol Smooth or Bristol Vellum. Regular drawing paper will bleed a little.

can anyone please help me as a beginner like me what are things needed for before starting sketching? I had no idea about pencils and about blenders and also please suggest me where to buy these things in online sites like Amazon. please help me with links so I can found it easily.
I'm no amazing artist in any way, but just start out with what you have. Maybe get a sketchbook with some drawing pencils (those are pretty cheap) and a nice white eraser with a smooth inky pen (or whatever pen you want really) I'm not gonna tell you what you need for coloring but I use colored pencils mostly and use copics sometimes. As for sketching, I could not help you. I cannot draw a human body or head well enough so I mostly freehand things in pencil until I'm happy and then I go over with my pen and erase, then I color. Hope this helps and I know this Is a late answer but don't give up.

Art is pointless
Console Master Perhaps for you. But some can find great joy in it, some can express themselves through art in a way they can't othwrwise. It can help with therapy and finding yourself. I don't think art is pointless but if you do, please let others enjoy it.
