To any incoming seniors from a previous senior do not let college rejections/acceptances define your self worth. You are so much more than the colleges that accept/deny you. Also remember that everything happens for a reason, you're going to go to school that is meant for you! Good luck and dont stress too much about it!!

It's yuh girl mikkeai8908 that’s the catch...😂 there is no equivalent to that in Canada (at least not in Québec where i’m from) colleges just look at your grades from secondary school/high school and that’s pretty much it
It's yuh girl mikkeai8908 a test for geniuses? i got asked to take a portion of the test when i was in 7th grade when normally your supposed to take it in 12th grade and if it was for geniuses i don’t think they’d ask a 7th grader to take it , everyone has to take it i mean yea your smart if your asked to take it earlier but i’m js everyone has to take it 12th grade year
this makes me nervous since i’m taking it this year. for people who didn’t do as well as they thought they would; did you struggle with the class too or was the test not really reflective of your grade in the class
My Life Fast Forward they may have the same GPA, but colleges will look at what classes you took and how much you were challenging yourself. In the end, you’ll have the upper hand 😊
My school didn't have an official weighted GPA, but I calculated it on my own, submitted it and colleges will accept it. Your transcript just needs to show those classes as "honors level" or "AP" It definitely counts, trust me.

thank you so much for making this video!! i am a junior this year and this video gave me an insight into a few classes i’m going to have to take this year. i wish you the best at cal poly and can’t wait for all the college videos!!
omg u just be an insanely good writer haha that's so amazing that you got 24/24 on the sat essay! id love to hear your personal essay if you'd like to share
@@periy2151 No, that's not true. High school is just as important of a step in life. Yes, it may not matter once you leave, it it has a profound effect on your life. It will help set you up for a good college, which in turn sets you up for a good job or graduate school. You should be stressing in high school. Sure, there are ways to have a good life while not being the best, but your chances of having a great life increases if you work your ass off. Stress can be good. It will light a fire under you to get things done. The real world has real stress, so everyone needs to learn how to handle it. The sooner the better. It builds character.
wow wow wow lol youre so smart, on my sat i took it once my jr year got a 1050, my gpa was 3.5 and the one ap test i took a got a 1 on lmao. still somehow got into UIC but congrats emma!! hope college treats you well
I only took 1 AP course in high school (AP Spanish) and I didn't take the exam; however, I did get an A for the course. SAT score-490 verbal, 640 mathematics. I still managed to graduate 7th in my high school class, was in the National Honor Society, and I graduated magna cum laude from college.
I totally understand the feeling about AP scores! I came out of my AP Environmental Science thinking I got a 3 even a 4 but sadly I got a 2. I have honestly been so upset about it but it happens and don’t let it drag you down! I also recently visited Cal Poly SLO. It’s a great school and I hope you have a great time!
I got a 2 on my AP government test too, don't worry! Its based off of a cut score so it's a lot harder to get higher numbers on those easier tests, because then you have to do GREAT to be able to get a 3,4, or 5 if that makes sense.
love this vid! I’m going into 11th grade and last year I took ap world history and I thought I didn’t pass but turns out I got a 3 and I’m soo happy! You should do a video on how hard you thought the ap tests/classes you took were especially bc I am taking ap psych this year!
I’m so terrified for college. All my classes were super easy and I legit have NO idea how to study or handle a lot of work. I get perfect scores now, but by the time I’m in AP classes and college I’m so scared that I’m not gonna know how and fail.
This video was so helpful!! I’m a junior this year and I’m taking all the tests this year and I’m so nervous! I’m currently taking AP Language this year!
So I am in 8th grade and last year in 7th I got to take the SAT out of the Duke tip program with real high schoolers I got a 1050 and my score doesn’t count for anything but I guess I did okay to be in the 7th grade and I scored in th 78 percentile out of all of the high schoolers there. But just thought I would mention it, and this video helped so much! I didn’t know it was more about the strategies or that you should study years in advance. Majorly helpful!
AP US Government this year was so deceptive. I genuinely thought I would've gotten a 5 after the exam. Turned out I only got a 3. Congrats on passing your other AP exams btw.
ahh I’m so stressed cause I’m a junior and scoring 1410-1450ish on my SATs (usually around 700-720 on math and anywhere from 720-760 on verbal with a perfect writing score but mistakes on reading due to being rushed) but I’m at a plateau because I keep misreading math questions and making dumb errors and I’m so frustrated ahh! when I do the test without time constraints, it’s easy for me to score near perfect but I’m slow and the rushed timing messes me up! it makes me make dumb errors! someone pls help me!
Emma don't stress yourself out too much.. your grades reflect the hard work and dedication that you put in. Your GPA/test scores/grades are absolutely fantastic and I feel like a proud parent, lol.
also if you suck at writing skip the essays they are optional plus take both the act and sat so you can apply to all colleges and not just the ones that accept one of them
I just graduated college with a bs in cs a couple months back, but my sat score wasnt as remarkable as hers even though I was well above the California state average
I’m British and have no idea what any of this means😂😂 In England SATs are in primary school (elementary school in America I think?) . At the end of secondary school there’s GCSE and at the end of Sixth Form/College there’s A Levels
Do you have any tips on how to prepare the ACT. I am an 8th grader and have to take it this year bc I have to take college classes freshman year. Thanks, love your videos❤
i’m going to be a senior next week and I was about to ask my counselor this question: if i wanna take the sat again in october do i have to wait under after the scores get back to apply to the universities i’m interested in?
I took AP Human Geography my freshman (9) year and I got a 4 and I was kind of upset even though 4s are good because I studied every night 2 weeks prior for around 30 minutes and I'm pretty good at history
Asia Prusaczyk gpa is the grade point average, so you get a number up to 6 based on how high the grade in the class is. If you have a 100 in an AP class, you get a 6. Averaging all of the classes together gives you the gpa, the higher the better. The sat is a standardized test that every student planning on going to college will take. The ACT is another option for this. Both of these tests cover roughly the same things, the majority being math and English. The higher your score, the better chance you have of getting into a competitive college. Ap scores come with a specific class, so not everyone will take one. Ap classes are typically the most difficult classes in American schools. After going through the whole year, there’s a test administered that acts as a final test for the class. The score goes from 1-5, with 5 being the best. If you pass an ap test (meaning 3 or above) you can be exempted from college courses, meaning you’ve already gotten college credit for the class. For example, say you took ap English. If you passed the exam, you could get a credit for English 101 in college, meaning you don’t have to take it. Hope this makes sense!!
Holyyy Emma! You’re so freaking beautiful and smart I can’t even oml 😩 you’re so brave for sharing your scores for the internet to see, it’s something that very few people would do! I’m going to be going to 8th grade and I got the opportunity to do a practice SAT or ACT test. I chose SAT! I took it last year (2017) a little before school ended. I got 1250 out of 1600 🤭 I don’t really know if that’s good for my grade level or not lol 😂 but ilysfm, and I wish you the best for college! Good Luck ❤️💕
I really needed this video, i get so confused with all this. I’m going to be a junior this fall and i don’t want to stress about SATs and i want a good score, how do i start preparing for that? 🤦♀️
So I’m Irish and this video literally has no importance to me / doesn’t apply to me whatsoever yet I still watched the whole thing and literally understood nothing 😂😂
I was so confused when you said you were shooting for 1400 on your SAT because I graduated HS in 2014 and our SAT scores were out of 2400. I was like yikes... I didn't realize they had changed it. I wonder what 1350 translates to on the old SAT.
Don’t worry Emma. I think everyone who took the AP US Government exam this May thought it was easier than the class. I turned the exam in so confident thinking I would get a 5 but I ended up with a 3 and in my whole school, one kid got a 5 and two got 4’s.
Gov is tougher than it seems, I think! I still don't know how I managed a 5 on it last year because I remember not feeling great about it turning it in.
To any incoming seniors from a previous senior do not let college rejections/acceptances define your self worth. You are so much more than the colleges that accept/deny you. Arianne Ouellet btw SAT is not that scary when I was in 5th grade I took it :)
Arianne Ouellet same all we have is our report card and marks
APUSH is definitely not an easy 5, its one of the hardest AP tests and most people fail, so a 3 is pretty good
riley I got a 4 with not really studying except the MULTIPLE CHOICE because I suck at MC lmao
I could barely handle the content😂😂 I have some retention issues. 5 on AP Lit though🤪😂
FUCK i’m signed up for that next year
this makes me nervous since i’m taking it this year. for people who didn’t do as well as they thought they would; did you struggle with the class too or was the test not really reflective of your grade in the class
Exactly. No one thinks APUSH is easy. No one
I wish my school had weighted GPAs, but we don’t so someone can get the same GPA as me by taking much easier classes which is kind of discouraging...
My Life Fast Forward they may have the same GPA, but colleges will look at what classes you took and how much you were challenging yourself.
In the end, you’ll have the upper hand 😊
Katie Chambers Thanks for the encouragement 😊
anytime :)
My Life Fast Forward ahhh, that really sucks! I’m so sorry! 😭
Colleges will still se that you took a had course load though!

as a brit.... this made absolutely no sense
hahaha, i bet! 😂
elleanor x same lol 😂

What are you majoring in?
What kinds of things do you learn in AP psychology, I’m interested in the class but not really sure what it’s about?
I took AP Human Geography my freshman (9) year and I got a 4 and I was kind of upset even though 4s are good because I studied every night 2 weeks prior for around 30 minutes and I'm pretty good at history
