    In last question, where we are drawing displayed formula of carboxylic acid, why u put 2 instead of 3 in the formula Cnh2n+1COOH??

      The presence of the carbon in COOH completes the 3 carbon atoms that should be there. You have to be careful when deriving the molecular or structural formula of the carboxylic acids because there is an extra carbon in the functional group of carboxylic acids.
