- Hey Folks, so I found this chuck of Holy horse chestnut I believe it is and also wanted to do something my XCarve for you on this one. So I came up with something a bit different and called it the Holy Grail. ha ha I hope you like this one..

Just watching your video again and realized I never answered the question in my first comment of what is in the colorful skull, They are colorful rocks. I tried putting candies in resin once and didn't go so well LOL.... Not really looking forward to trying that again... It looks like a cremation urn. Although...at my advanced age, just about *everything* is starting to look like a cremation urn.

@@Louisew1969 sadly, I am a boomer who is near the end. Gotta make room for the younger people. My only regret was screaming, "Don't trust anybody over 30!", back in the 1960's. Realizing that I've outlived Benny Hill and McLean Stevenson does make me feel that I've had plenty of good years. I am older that Disneyland, touch dialing, satellites, color television and jet airliners. When I was born, there were people living who had been alive when President Lincoln was alive. The structure of DNA was unknown and we still believed that left-handed people were in league with Satan. A "woman's place" was at home in the kitchen and post-partum depression was treated with shock treatments. Our big fear was the outbreak of polio, since it ravaged our neighborhoods and there was not yet a vaccine for it.
I leave this world to the younger people. I just hope they don't &%#@ it up as badly as we did.

Laying in bed, kinda zoned out a little during the Xcarve bit. Then I hear "it's not hard, but I'm pretty thick" ... I laughed so hard that I dropped my phone on my face. Can't zone out for two seconds without Nick reeling you back in.

Absolutely beautiful Nick! The grain looks as if the piece has been twisted.
Love to see you try this: Use cnc to deep engrave intricate pattern on all 4 sides of squared stock peice, fill with funky resin, when you round off/hollow out pattern becomes seethtough.
First and most importantly, I absolutely Love this project. When you were doing the super long black finial I kept saying "Don't Break, Don't Break" 🤣
Secondly, OMG I'm so glad you like the Skulls I sent you ♥️ You truly were my inspiration to start working with resin and putting the craziest things inside 😁
I had the same though about the finial!! I saw the little bit of flex (if that’s the right term) and was waiting for the snap.

When I saw you carve out that round thing on the X-carve, I thought it looked like either a slice of lotus fruit or a stained glass window, so I figured you'd either fill it with citrus-colored resin or you'd use multi-colors and sand the back off so it would be like a window you could set into something.

I don't know what kind of wood that is either but I love it, it's really beautiful. You picked the right shape. The heavy features in the wood seem more suited to a piece that looks heavy or rounded and not delicate.

When the finial flexed in the lathe I thought we were getting ready to see the first one on the pot instead while he searched the floor for the black one.
I think its perfect the way it is. You helped it become what it was supposed to be.
I love this wood. It has so much personality. At first I didn't like the black with the wood but wow it makes the wood pop. I love it.
Personally, I would have gone with the first finial. The pot has a rustic simplicity about it, and the one you have used jars against it. (in my opinion)
But can you make toilet paper out of wood shavings? 🚽 🧻

Love the vids, your work is amazing... I wish I could get into this sort of work but have neither the space nor funds to do it properly. Unfortunately I have to say I wasn't a huge fan of the way this one turned out... the pot/urn part is fine, although I was worried about halfway through the vid as it was looking pretty rough. I like the CNC incorporation, and I think your going to find ways to go over the top with it as usual. While I liked the design of that floral inlay, I do wish you had found a way to polish it up some. Once you put that finial on there, (which was a tad big for my tastes), it was shining so bright and it made the inlay look like a drab unfinished topper.
This is my personal opinion, just wanted to say hey and throw my 2¢ around... stay safe and funky!

I love how you incorporated the CNC machine! I got into woodturning after finding your channel, then when the winter hit I bought a CNC because I could put that downstairs where there is heat!
