Whenever I listen to you, it is like I am listening to myself being validated. It means a lot to me that a woman, I can relate with so well expresses the feelings I have had as a child and I have been alienated being referred to as one from the West(to mean the culture of the whites), which I find so ridiculous, . Yes, I do admit that I read White's books because they are all I had access to but everything I so passionately spoke and still speak against are things that I saw in the society all around me and I found them to be unfair and I was and still am unwilling to allow them to go ahead with out being heard and given valid explanations for their going on.. And yet, to people, I am not African.. Which is absurd. Ever since I started listening to you Adichie, I have constantly sought after your voice because it validates me. I know I am fully African even with my ideas that are called western which I refuse blatantly to agree to because how can they be western when they are my own thoughts on things I see in my society? And have opinions over? And since childhood unchanged? Thank you for pointing out the importance of what makes us proud and the point of own language in self expression. Very important issues. You speak and I am listening to myself as you do speak and that means a lot to me for I know that I am not alone in these kinds of thoughts now.

Get this y'all! She always cites African, Nigerian intellectuals in her talks, which I believe is deliberate. Unlike Africans that cite, "Sidney Sheldon says....." or "Bill Gates advises....crap crap crap..." #blackexcellence #blackwomanexcellence #blackgirlmagic
