It Happened! Elon Musk Reviews Exclusive 2025 CATL Condensed Battery, Analysis in Depth! If you look up Tesla batteries, they typically have a capacity of 250-260 Wh/kg, allowing for a range of around 320 miles. So, if a battery achieves a density of 500 Wh/kg, as Elon Musk plans to put in his EVs, what would happen? It's easy to think of numbers like 600 or even 700 miles range.
It Happened! Elon Musk Reviews Exclusive 2025 CATL Condensed Battery, Analysis in Depth! What seemed impossible and only appeared in this dream is now very close to reality, as Catl has developed a type of battery called a condensed battery, the highest energy density battery currently available, and it has been confirmed to be manufactured by the end of this year. With this type of battery, the race among automakers will become more explosive than ever, whoever gets it first will win!
It Happened! Elon Musk Reviews Exclusive 2025 CATL Condensed Battery, Analysis in Depth! So Why would Elon Musk hard to overlook this battery?

These batteries would be perfect for VTOL such as Joby/archer. These would also be perfect for electric planes and Tesla Semi. It all depends on the final specs energy density, life of battery (cycles), cold weather performance, hot weather performance, cost, availability of materials, and charge time. Excited to learn more about these

I think in the future, it would be good to not only look at kwh/kg but also include kwh/m3 and degregation per 1000 recharge cycles numbers, and also current and future expected price per kwh. And also some kind of reliability number. Different batteries are sometimes good at different things. I would rather have "golden battery" of it can lose only 10% after 4000 cycles, vs a lighter battery that lose 10% after 1000 cycles. I mean it needs to be put in some kind of comparison table for normal ppl to understand the difference.

What is it specific weight/volume? And how often can it be charged? How fast can it deliver its energy (500W per year???)

And makes it even more dependent on China???

With the high capacity chargeurs (less the 15min from 10 to 90%) 300mile range is largely enough. Interest for the 500Wh/kg is aviation where premiums will be paid while consumer products (cars, power walls, commercial vehicles, gris storage) the $50/kWh is essential.

It will make vehicles possible with a longer range but also lighter vehicles, thus increasing milleage. For me a car with 3 hours highway speed range 10-80 is enough, even for travel. Almost nobody needs more then 250 km range for daily commute, so 300 km is more then enough keeping in mind some reserve. Most people in Belium drive 20k per year, so once a week charging.

Why do these video makers struggle with arithmetic? If these batteries double the density, they can achieve double the range, but not save any weight, contrary to what was implied. And not stated was that halving the weight actually increases the range by a small amount (kinetic energy & any braking that isn't regen, etc). Like for like. Also the cost of the batteries could be double and still compete, like for like. But lifetime? Tesla are buying CATL technology under licence, but probably not this particular tech.
