Gir meg minner om yngre og mer uskyldige år. Da du var på spillelisten til nrk Hordaland, jeg våknet til deg.
Håper du har det bra Elvira,

@Jhondinn The Norwegian language is in its nature very direct, so when a Norwegian writes English, the English can come across as rude and prompt as well. What she is trying to explain is that this song isn't trashing the country of Egypt in any way. Its a biblical reference Elvira uses to explain how she's left a state of mind that wasn't right for her to live with. These lyrics can seem a bit strange, but I promise you, neither the author or anyone commenting here is trying to insult Egypt.

She is Norwegian.Hasnothing with country Egypt to do. It referes to biblican story about when the Israelis escaped from Egypt ; but this "Egypt" is your own state of mind and the "Egypt" that one might be caughed in - ones own unhappy life. And she found a way of that "Egypt" and her way our of (just) beeing (the state of only excisiting-not living)
    Lovely song.

This is a house to which I will never return
    These rooms witnessed great disasters,
Quiet ones and loud ones too
This is a country to which I will never return
See, I've been a lonesome stranger
In these streets and in these labyrinths
In these ballrooms with the kings and queens
    Was I brave to stay?
But now I've found my way out of Egypt
I've found my suprisingly obvious way out of here
You are my way out of my dangerous, proud mistakes
And now Egypt seems so very far away.

Elvira is refering in this song to the old Bible story about Israelis that escaped from Egypt, only Elvira chooses to not talk about Egypt as the country. "I found my way out of Egypt" is her own state of mind of "getting out of a bad place in her life/a bad state of mind". Norwegian can be really direct but confusing for foreigners when translated to English, but trust me. She is not talking about Egypt the country as a bad place, she just used the old bible story as a "inspirational expression of her own state of mind"....hope that helps :)

Egypt is a metaphor for the christian religion. She leaved a christian sect which she were born and raised in. She doesn’t literally mean the country Egypt.
