- Christmas in the Cotswolds. Bringing some festive feels to make Christmas more joyous. Enjoy this walk, just before dark in Castle Combe, England.
In the mid-12th century the Normans built a castle here on the site of a Roman Villa abandoned in the 5th century. The village is built around the 14th century and got its name from the castle. St. Andrew's Church is probably from the 12th century and of particular interest inside is the modified 15th-century faceless clock
Castle Combe has been called 'The Prettiest Village in England'This English village features beautiful architecture and plenty of festive decorations to make your holiday season extra special. Plus, you can take in some beautiful views of the Cotswolds.

1~ I love how the homeowners leave their curtains so we can the inside. It’s like they know how beautiful their home is and they want to share it.

Just to be able to go into a Pub with your dog on a cold day , sit by the fire and enjoy a drink of whatever takes your fancy ,life doesn’t get better than that 😊
I agree. And you just don’t have this sort of Cheeriness in the USA. And those large comfy chairs near a pub fireplace.
@@ccasey1904 you need to get there early for a fireside chair and hope it’s not taken by some grumpy local who nurses half pint of beer all night 😂🤣
@@terry9325 The times I was in England and in a pub, it was lunch or tea time. And luckily never ran into not getting one of those lovely fireside chairs. I went once to see Hadrian’s Wall somewhere ( where exactly I can’t remember). It was March so a bit chilly. Had late pub lunch and hot tea by the fire! It was so wonderful! Dark beans, and such a cozy atmosphere! Didn’t really want to leave.

😊i was very lucky to live in Castle Combe in a flat next-door to the white heart pub whilst working at the Manor House Hotel as F&B Manager in the late 80's. I'll never will forget this beautiful piece of countryside😢

How wonderful to live in a country with such quaint and charming villages, especially during the holidays. So much history and warmth. Loved the walk.
With an added sprinkling of snow , it looks like it's out of a Dickens novel ! Magical..
Cotswolds is one of my favorite places in all the world.
The roofs of houses withe chimneys spires and,snow on slanting roofs,the yellow light at window,the big glass window s of houses and the hush and specks of snow after snowfall,is looking beautiful
There is something about cobble stoned streets, English country gardens, tea time, pubs, undergrounds and trains that are co ordinated so that you don’t really need a car for transport in England, and even Yorkshire pud!

@@aace7461 Is that why there were loud people on cell phones? I was saddened that one can't go anywhere without "voice pollution." That aside, the interior of the church was lovely. The Advent wreath and display of the late Queen's photographs were very touching.

The sound is amazing. Beautiful video. It’s my dream to go someday (I’m American). I know better than to believe that material things truly make one happy, but it really is tempting to think, if only I lived here, I wouldn’t have a care in the world! 😊
To Jamie: there is an “atmosphere “ in England. It’s hard to define. Especially in these quaint places off the beaten track. It’s like a peaceful sanity that all is OK with the world. Hard to define but I haven’t been in England since the early 90s ; I was in my 30s then. The UK is just this amazing place. And buildings that are 1000 years old with atmosphere. And tea and scones and beautiful gardens and cobbled stone streets, etc. It’s just the best.
That’s exactly how I imagine it to be and precisely the reason it’s a dream destination of mine. ❤️
@@jamieboylan641 When you get there, the tourist info centers have all sorts of brochures of cool places to go. England is a very organized country. December to March or April used to be “off season” with cheaper air fares and hotels or B&Bs (Bread and Breakfast places). I hope you get to go soon. March and April are usually pleasant.

Really lovely, i grew up near there and we used to go to the big car boot sale in Castle Combe every Sunday back in the early 90's, moved away from the area in 2006 (didnt really want to). I do miss it, so vids like this are fantastic.

I have always wanted to visit the UK and specifically Cotswolds after the movie the Holiday and this confirms my desire to visit even more! It's so cute and quaint. I will be visiting later this year in the fall and I can't wait
