Nigeria should be 34 years ahead of South Africa. To think people still need to compare themselves to South Africa for validation and clout is shameful. Why can't people be happy being themselves without any comparison?

I am Namibian but i regard South Africa as a power house in Africa in all levels of structures including military. The SADC region is more organized with good infrastructure and sound rule of law.
You're invariably & inadvertently saying that apartheid was good for SA. You can't reject apartheid, yet claim it's glory. Let's talk SA based on its achievement post 1994 in terms of poverty reduction, human capital development amongst black majority. Has SA blacks faired well under ANC- development wise? No doubt SA has infrastructure(thanks to apartheid )but again SA blacks are preponderantly uneducated, & overwhelming poor, lazy, & intellectually uncompetitive compared to Nigeria.

GDP wise SA is in the top 5 in the continent and unlike Nigeria has smaller population to boot. How is that not a powerhouse?

Nigeria spent its $65billion to liberate & educate educate some South Africans like Mbeki, Ramafosa etc. it's only Julius' malema that remembers the sacrifices Nigerians made for SA. There's a time Nigerian civil servants forfeited their salaries for 3 months & the moneys donated to SA. Majority of productive professors in SA universities are Nigerians. Agree, in terms of political leadership Nigeria is zero, but so is south Africa since 1994.
Return Nigeria's largesse deployed to SA to educate & liberate it from apartheid white supremacists. SA are also living in Nigeria. Nigeria has helped majority of African countries financially, intellectually, & militarily(peace keeping) from Namibia, Liberia, sierra Leon, congo, Rwanda,Uganda, Kenya etc. Name a single African country that has benefited anything from SA.
Majority of Nigerians in South Africa don't even desearve to be there because these are the same people that have contributed to the ruination of Nigeria before they left. They may be abiding by the rule of law and order based on South African standards.

Nigeria got its independence in 1960 that is long ago.South Africa got independence in 1994. Age difference of 34 years between two countries. However, because of the fact that Africa generally has very low standards with regards to social welfare, infrastructural development, standard of living and so on, South Africa is slowly slipping off as the Giant of Africa or the greatest country in Africa.

Reporting in Africa overall is faulty. I remember Nigerian youtubers saying that they were never updated on covid numbers in the country, the only thing they were told was when it came to Nigeria and that was it.
Also when we speak of unemployment in SA we include those that are in informal economies (street vendors and stuff), whereas a mama in the market selling cow skins in Nigeria is not unemployed and those make up nearly 80% of the employment in Nigeria.
