I'm not sure if yall have picked up on this yet, but Yuta (full name: Yuta Nakamoto) is Japanese 😅. Up until NCT2020, he was the only Japanese member (and only Japanese artist in the whole company), but now Shotaro has joined NCT (and Giselle in aespa is also Japanese). Also, Jaehyun spent a couple years in the US when he was younger. That's why his english is so good.

Which contrasts his pretty soft sorta squishy facial features. He sorta resembles Taemin from Shinee, and has noticeable lips. ( I think those were they only ones you were struggling with so ill just put a few notes on the others) - Doyoung really closely resembles a bunny and has a round/oval eye shape. Honestly the other NCT members are always clowning him so he always looks like he's holding back tears, or smiling the pain away. This is because Chinese characters (hanja) were used to write Korean until they developed their own 'alphabet' which is called Hangeul. Also, the Japanese occupied Korea for a bit during the 18th century so some words were adapted from the Japanese language as well. Therefore, I would say it draws from both as well as is its own individual language. Basically, they sound very different but if you pay attention. you might catch a few words here and there that sound Japanese or you might encounter words that are derivative from Chinese known as Sino-Korean. Of course, this is based on what I have studied and my opinion, I am open to any corrections or clarifications that you might have.
If I remember my linguistics classes accurately, Korean is considered the only language in its branch which is to say it doesn't have any closely related languages that still survive. Grammatically, the structure is more similar to Japanese. Mandarin and other Chinese languages are quite different in sound, structure and history. There are lots of borrowed words used in Korea from both Chinese and Japanese (and English these days of course). But in terms of a language tree, Korean is on its own branch, very unique :)

Doyoung-is pronounced like dough-nut, dough-young, Doyoung Jaehyun-is pronounced like jay-hyun - like yuh or run with a y, jay-hYUHn, jaehyun Haechan-is pronounced like hey-ch-ahn, haechan not like Channing Tatum (the sound of Channing sounds similar to Anne). I hope this is helpful it takes a little time to get their names right, it took me a while😀😁😄

One of the three Japanese alphabets is called Kanji, which is mostly similar to Hanzi (Chinese characters) So a lot of Japanese characters are derived from Chinese characters. There's also Hanja- which is the Korean name for a traditional writing system made of Chinese characters that was used as early as the Gojoseon period (first ever Korean kingdom.) But now Hanja hasn't been used in Korea for like 70-80 years. Other than Hanja, Korean writing isn't similar to Chinese. So basically Korean is more similar to Japanese grammar-wise, but has little relation to Chinese. Japanese and Chinese are pretty similar though. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about anything 😆

33:10 Korea has a long history of being occupied by both China and Japan, so their language has got a lot of similarities to both (though still completely independent). So, I would say their roots are more tied with Chinese and a lot of the words are based on the Chinese characters. But when Japan colonized Korea and Korea quickly modernized, they introduced a bunch of new words that have more worldly roots (basically Korean versions of Japanese versions of English words). Honestly, all of East Asia is pretty jumbled up, but their language definitely leans more towards Chinese just because of how Sino-centric it used to be.

Chinese Japanese and Korean have similar pronunciation in many words bcs at first we all use chinese character.Now japanese still use many chinese characters but korean create a new character system years ago.

33:14 Korean used to use Chinese characters long time ago. Because there were no letters, but only languages. However, King Sejong made Hangul(own Korean letters) for the people and was evaluated as the most scientific text. In fact, some minorities and tribesmen who did not have letters adopted Hangul as letters.The reason was that all sounds could be written. There are words that have similar pronunciations to those of China and Japan. Because I've been using Chinese characters for a long time. We use Hangul not similar anything.

You guys are doing great at learning their names don't rush it's better to go slow and get them correctly than to rush and have no idea which ones right also talk a little less over the video you can hear them sometimes saying each other's names so that'll help you with pronunciation.
Jaehyun is a baritone. he does add flavors to nct's songs and in kpop industry baritone vocalist is very rare. also, he is a sub rapper too.
Its ok to have multiple biases, it's hard to choose between johnny, jaehyun and dohyoung for me for all different reasons. And jungwoo just bias wrecking me for his cute energy

This way you start recognizing them by voice both speaking and on track, or even by personality! :D

Fun fact, to survive in SM entertainment before debut, the trainees must learn at least 1 to 2 instruments. Only for the extremely talented one they do not need to.

34:00 incase anyone wants to know lol- I'd say Korean is closer to Japanese, because grammar-wise Korean and Japanese are almost identical, but Korean and Chinese use very different grammar.
One of the three Japanese alphabets is called Kanji, which is mostly similar to Hanzi (Chinese characters) So a lot of Japanese characters are derived from Chinese characters.
There's also Hanja- which is the Korean name for a traditional writing system made of Chinese characters that was used as early as the Gojoseon period (first ever Korean kingdom.) But now Hanja hasn't been used in Korea for like 70-80 years.
Other than Hanja, Korean writing isn't similar to Chinese.
So basically Korean is more similar to Japanese grammar-wise, but has little relation to Chinese. Japanese and Chinese are pretty similar though.

33:10 Korea has a long history of being occupied by both China and Japan, so their language has got a lot of similarities to both (though still completely independent). So, I would say their roots are more tied with Chinese and a lot of the words are based on the Chinese characters. But when Japan colonized Korea and Korea quickly modernized, they introduced a bunch of new words that have more worldly roots (basically Korean versions of Japanese versions of English words). Honestly, all of East Asia is pretty jumbled up, but their language definitely leans more towards Chinese just because of how Sino-centric it used to be.
The easiest way to figure Jaehyun out is spotting his dimples lol
Learning an instrument is pretty much something Asian parents want and a standard in training as an idol for the most part.
