Happy 50th anniversary to this song! It was released this time in 1974(it’s April 2024 as I post my comment.) It made the top ten songs of 1974, as well as Bennie and the jets(Elton John), Sweet home Alabama(Lynyrd Skynyrd), Grand Funks cover version of Loco motion(released 12 years prior, originally sung by Little Eva in 1962), and Rock on(David Essex). May this song live on for another 50 years!!!
It's incredible that smart phone didn't even exist that time. Now I'm reading your comment and listening to this song at the same time, both of us sitting in different corners of the world.
good music knows no age, it is timeless. I am 43 but i grew up being around all kinds of music, from big band and swing, artists like frank Sinatra, Nat king Cole, Elvis, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, o'jays, kool and the gang, four tops, Led Zeppelin, etc etc. and since i was 4 and 5 years old i was jamming out to that, as well as many others from Motown, rock n roll, blues, soul, rnb, reggae, funk, and more, i never cared much for country or that techno stuff, but i have had my own radios and tape players since i was 3 years old, and i was just naturally drawn to and craved music. good music is good music.
I first heard this song when I was about 9 or 10. Loved it then, love it now. I was surprised when I found out a few years ago, that the members of the band were Native American. I thought they were black! Such a classic, amazing song! As a Black American with some Native American ancestry, I can say those guys had SOUL!
@@danarcotta1283 Well, since I first heard them when I was a kid, I didn’t have much of a clue about anything way back then. All I knew is that I liked the song. Am I forgiven?
One of my favorites as well. Discovered it on high school @ '95. Have loved it ever since. I was so happy when we started watching F is for Family and this was the intro song. ❤️👍🏻
What I love about this song is not just when it played in the first movie But of course how the Trilogy ends on This song. I always do love when you Book and the long Movie series with the very first song that introduced you to it 😊
GOTG is absolutely ridiculous, and fun entertainment that makes no sense, but sometimes that's what you need. The right scene, and the right atmosphere for this great song. The musical direction of this film is outstanding.
One of the great TV commercials featuring this song has the father dancing to this and his young son being embarrassed by dads dancing until son has his own son and calls dad to show him. It was for a phone company. A real strings of the heart plucker that there was.
I'm Native American and she's a beautiful Japanese woman and I played this song for her and she fell in love with me with this song. She's my wife now and we have 4 beautiful children. We still dance to this song. Thank you Redbone ❤😊😊
I have always loved this song since childhood. It is so wonderful that my son and grandson sing this all the time and loved the movie. I just love it ❤
