- Metal detector coil build and test comparing a balanced faraday shielded coil against a Minelab commander coil.
Faster stronger better depth and sensitivity, reduction of high frequency E fields and radio waves.
Works on SD GP GPX including the 6000 if you sacrifice a coil to make a dongle patch lead.

It is best that I build one and do a comparison with other commercial coils first.

I think everyone wants a 6000 and 7000 dongle if it increased the Nugget count.
@@DetectorMods I’m kind of convinced the Goldhawk coil might be on par with the xcoil on the 6000, I got 37 bits in an absolutely flogged car park area at Warwick and I’m talking tiny fly sh1t, the tally for 37 bits was 1.78g, always looking for something new and something to play with 😁
I tried my home brew 6000 coil in a 6 X 8 housing compared with the gold hawk and my coil was very quiet but still sensitive, I have a video on the coil in the field.
@@DetectorMods that’s very interesting, my goal is to see how the 6000 technology suits a big coil like the 17” or 20” concentric.
i badly marked a vicky gothic florin because i pinpointed on a piece of iron buried next to the florin is it possible to pinpoint with diiscrimination,so as not to pinpoint on the iron.
It can be done with a vlf type pinpointer, not a cheaply but one with dual indicator on ferrous and non ferrous targets.
Why does a ferite bead placed at the control box lead plug affect it it?
If it part of a faraday shield, shouldn't be shielded?
The only reason is to possibly round off the edges of the transmitter as to not generate harmonics or to reduce radio waves getting into the receiver.
I made a carbon fiber tube of six inches, and a removable plate, from box cover, to add extra shielding.
It seems to run quieter, but I'm concerned it is being picked up as mineralisation, does, and reducing depth?
Could i run a line fron the shield to a bix screw to ground?@DetectorMods
