A t56 bolts right up. I had viper spec in my Lightning years ago. You just have to use a 03-04 bell housing. As for if this is an up or down grade, it's about having fun. You already know what you are getting into.

I have a 13 GT500 and then have a Lightning top end setup on a 4x4 F150, guess I never realized how much taller the L setup was. I mean the hood on my GT500 has a little cowl on it, maybe 3 inches, but you're gonna look like mad max in that thing.
That is freaking awesome, it's a upgrade, you should go old school on the hood and just cut a hole in the hood, or make shift hood scoop from fiberglass. Make $hit up as you go!!

Love seeing a non coyote swap. I just bought a 2006 V6 premium. With 170,000kms. For $2000 off a coworker who was in dire need of money.. it’s an absolute steal. I’ve been researching ALOT and planning what swap I’m going to do. Hell, I might just keep the 4.0L V6 and build it up as a Shelby Terlingua haha. I absolutely love different swaps. So sick of the coyote. Honestly my favourite sounding V8 is a 4.6 2v. Might even swap that in with a Eaton SC from a Cobra. Just to be different. Love it, looking forward to watching this!!

You gotta delete the turkey pan vacuum line on the back of intercooler, it will cause vacuum leaks and lean codes. Do it now before you fully install the engine it’s a hassle to mess with the engine installed.
Down grade had a 01 lighting that i put way to much money into.. I would have just dropped a Coyote motor in it. There's a local junkyard close to me. I can get them from 800 to 1400 bucks with low miles on them.
Big blowers aren't the way anymore they take up all kinds of space for nothing and feel lazy down low and kb have ridiculous iat issues. The modern tvs blowers are way better pound for pound. A 13-14 blower with 5.8 taken off and leave svt on it since it's an svt engine.

Couldn't you do like an 03-04 cobra style blower on it so the plenum isn't on top thus sticking up super far? They're the same blower but not sure if mounting is same since it's 4v 4.6 vs 2v 5.4. Coyote rods won't work on a 5.4 but gt500 rods will 07-14 that is an upgrade for those on a budget like coyote rods are for the 4.6. They're powdered forged just like the "superior" coyote rods (not sure why people think they're so superior when they're all powdered forged outside of 03-04 cobra forged rods) I think its just coyotes don't make the torque that kills engines as easily as the gt500s do so they live at higher power levels because they have to be at a super high power level to see any torque ecsp with a centrifugal lol. Just my .02
Good point. I think the fact that the blower sticks up so high gives it a good effect. If we do move forward with a basic rod and piston built bottom end I'm sure we could machine an adapter pretty quick to run a GT500 style blower on top of the lightning manifold. Then we could run any 07-14 GT500 blower right on top - vmp, kb, whipple, trinity 2.3 etc
It's definitely a downgrade reliability and performance wise, because the v6 can make 600 horsepower before it needs to be built but sound and look wise, it's and upgrade.
People always talk in peak power nobody ever factors in torque or what the usable rpm range is. Everyone just says oh this engine can do this amount of peak power. There is so much more to it than that. They can do 600 with a turbo kit on e85 otherwise you prob won't see 600. They ain't gonna do it reliably with a blower.
Put 13/14 GT500 heat exchange I have one on my lightning and runs good and fits perfect in the mustang

No but gt500 rods are a good cost friendly upgrade. They're powdered forged just like coyote and boss rods are and can take 700-800+ rwhp.

Coyote 5.0 4.6 triten v10. Mark viii 32 valve gt 500 5.4 and 5.8 pretty much is the same they all fit.

@alexchadbourne the lightning didn't have the exact same 5.4 as normal f150 they has forged cranks in them. There may be other differences as well.
