Hey just a little thing from someone who plays with barbies A LOT If you take off the elastics instead of cutting them you can use them again to style your barbie's hair or to keep the shoes on. Those Mofos are STRONG and unlike loom bands (which I used to use for hairbands for my barbies) they do not break easily. I save EVERY ONE of those elastics. Also better for the environment because you are reusing something.
Actually most of the plastic in our oceans comes from fishing (old nets and stuff like that) although I think products like this are great for spreading awareness there’s also a lot of misinformation that the reduction of single use plastics will save our oceans, of course it’ll help and I think it should should be reduced for just general environmental practices I just wish companies would have more guts to fight issues rather than just gently tinkle at them for a cash grab
I agree, I think to a lot of people buying a cute barbie doll is much more palatable than cutting out fish from their diet (in general, most prefer to spend money on new things rather than make a more prominent lifestyle change). I do think that this is a fantastic start though -- especially bc so many toys (cough, LOL surprise, cough) use such a massive amount of plastic.
I’d love to see more eco friendly packaging for all of the big doll brands. Like the main thing is that changing packaging methods could help a lot in terms of being green but also, as we’ve seen with the Disney dolls, it’s easier to get the doll out of the packages and generally you don’t have to over gel the hair so it looks good in the package.
ive been loving seeing entirely cardboard packaging and the creative ways they present the dolls like the new disney store ones. theyre much more colorful and cute to keep! i hope these become more and more common among dolls uwu
when u started screaming about swimming i felt guilty bc my parents asked me to go swimming today and i said no bc i’m insecure about my body but maybe ill say yes next time thank u for the kind words queen
Hi Melissa ! I happened to go to wall Mart yesterday, and i always go through the Barbie aisle and i was able to find two of those and the 2021 Holiday Barbie doll ! I was SO excited to find these !!! I am a very big fan of protecting our planet and Barbie dolls, this was overdue. I always wondered why a recycled material Barbie hadn't been made yet ! They have previously made the packaging of recycled materials, but i finally got my Barbie also made from discarded materials. ❤❤❤❤People, PROTECT AND SAVE THE PLANET AND IT'S OCEANS !! Before it's too late ! Thanks for another great video, Melissa ! ❤ you .
Mom, two ponytails divided equally are always pigtails UNLESS they are in twin buns, in which case they are called Space Buns. Pigtails aren’t defined by braids or texture ☺️
Love the dolls, they look great, have amazing hair, and are mostly made of recycled plastic. That and the no plastic box. That's soooo great in so many ways! I hope I can find them here too, thanks for the great and fun review ♡♡♡♡♡
Cool stuff! I use to play with those old stringy mops as a kid. I braided the strings and put bows in their “hair.” I’d stand them upside down and lean them against the wall outside. 🥴. That is soooo gross!!! I use to play with soup cans as dolls, too. I had lots of dolls; I don’t know why I played with mops and cans!
The doll at 16:16 has the same face mold as the Fashionista that was released about 2 or 3 yrs ago, with blonde just below shoulder length hair, she wears a white top with the word 'love' written on, and a very pretty apricot colour skirt with black polka dots & a ruffle round the hem, she also has high heel black shoes, quite a glamourous outfit, and the vitiligo curvy doll from the latest batch has a very pretty dress and also high heeled feet. But too usually, yes, the curvy dolls are too often in shapeless sacks with flat feet, so I always notice when one isn't. Also the black doll with orange hair and pretty pink tartan dress from last year also had high heels.
Funny that you mentioned sticks. My mother told me once that when she was little if she and her susters didn't have a doll they would get a stick and wrap it in a dishtowel and pretend it was their baby.
My childhood was full of many adventures and dramas with Barbie. My little sister and I would play for hours and hours. Always giving them new names and some times new looks too. Its such a fond memory. I agree they do stimulate imagination and creativity. Not only did I play with barbies, I also made my own dolls.
im for it. 90% is a high number instead of 20% and calling it recycled. so I'm glad they're doing this. if only they can work by adding recycled plastic into its main lines. also, I use a small amount of blue tack on the bottom of the feet so slippers will not get lost lol
15:25 I am here XD She was called Kassandra, but her name is Crystal, and the doll whom you may want to see is: 2018 Barbie Styled by Marni Senofonte AA FJH75 ;) ... I have a littel bit 'green washing' doubts...but awareness is important, and they look lovely.
I love the beach or as my family says shore ( we are from New Jersey) and my daughter likes to make jewelry , sculptures and more out of plastic, cardboard, and other recycled materials to do her part in the world...
With all the negative comments that Barbie has been getting over the last few years people need to focus on the fact of all the good things they're doing such as these dolls that are made from recycled plastic. Need to focus on the diversity that they have which other lines don't even come close to it anymore. We need to stop worrying about things like articulation and realize all the great thing that's going on with this style company and what they're trying to do to help the Earth as well as continue giving us great products
These dolls are great I got two of the three and can't wait to take them to the beach💜💜💜💜and I love the ken he is handsome and his outfit is great. I think he is better in person. I may end up getting a few more of him.
I love love love this so so much thank you Mattel what a much needed idea yes great way to educate ourselves and our kids ❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉👍👍👍 ♻️ ♻️ ♻️💚💚💚 sunglasses and shoes 😂😂😂 well let’s hope for improvement 🤞🤞🤞😉😉😉 “curvy hot” Barbie is def my fav 😍😍😍
I'm loving these barbie loves the ocean dolls I like the vibe, the whole idea also the head bobble is new articulation I have a new barbie who does the same though it doesn't bobble
I would love for this to be more of a thing. Maybe giving the dolls something a bit more fashionable to wear and more articulation. (minus Bobble-head)
I grew up in two braids, everyday. Think Pippi Longstocking , or Laura Ingalls Wilder. Without braids, two are pigtails, a single is a ponytail. An a wavy haired Caucasian girl, more than two becomes a hot mess without a stylist doing your hair.
Just curious have you heard of Living Dead Dolls and would u ever review one? I love them so much they are a little expensive but they aren’t mass produced like Barbie or Monster High and they all have died in one way or another
Thaaaat's rriiiigght. Ponytails are loose. Pigtails are braided. Give the lady a cookie! 😄😄😄 I don't understand how people mislabel these hairstyles. It's simple, ponytails looks like a horse's tail. Pigtails looks like a pig's tail. Hence the names.
I live in Florida, we recycle often but our garbage is burned. The city i live in has also gone to compostable or paper straws because a law was passed that businesses could only have so much plastic in thier waste bins. It really is a good idea. I was taught in school that we needed to do this as come the next mellinium(which we're in now) so many of our fossil fuels will be depleted ect. We need to do beach clean ups and be more cautious and aware of what we're doing with these things as our next generation will have to be the ones living in it. We don't want them living in dystopia.
Mattel started the mattel toy donation program earlier this year, where you could send your old dolls and toys back to mattel to be "recycled". I don't understand how Mattel can say the donated dolls are made from trash that would have otherwise gone into the ocean when it's likely all material is sourced from those people sending their old toys back. That would have probably been donated to thrift stores otherwise not dumped in oceans. I see this "save the earth" theme as purely for profit, the plastic isn't from trash, even the head and accessories are still single use plastic. Also mattel are currently promoting their new hotwheels NFTs which are HORRIBLE for the enviroment as the energy used to create them is incredibly wasteful. It looks so fishy and like they decided barbie is a brand that would benefit sales if they use this save the earth charade whilst also destroying it under their other licenses.
But they are essentially the same price as a Fashionista. Yes, you can get a nicer doll for $30, but is there a better doll for $10? Also, truly, it would be better to not buy a doll at all for the planet. Reduce, reuse, recycle - in that order. I feel guilty every time I buy a doll; maybe a bit less guilty with these ones.
@@Cookiecrawfish Alright then. In Canada MTM are $25 (if we can even get them) vs $10-15 for a Fashionista (which is readily available), so I thought MTM would be proportionately more in the US (i.e. at least $15 USD).
The small pieces of plastic (holding the head to the box and the elastics) are probably worse for the oceans marine life considering they’re literally micro plastics
I have the one in the middle, I adore her a lot, but her legs are stiff and problematic. I may have just got a bad one. But I didn’t know about the recycled plastic aspect, so cool.
Mattel ALWAYS gives the curvy barbies baggy clothes , oversized shirt dresses, or something else unflattering or not stylish like can we get a curvy barbie with STYLE & FLATTERING outfits 😭
Most of them are in the ugly shapeless outfits with flat feet, but there are some that look much better. There's a curvy Fashionista with just below shoulder length blonde hair, with a white top and pretty apricot skirt with black dots and a ruffle round hem, she has black high heel shoes, the vitiligo curvy doll from latest wave has a pretty dress and high heeled boots, and last year the black curvy doll with orange hair had a pretty pink plaid dress and high heel boots. I wish Mattel would make more like that.
I was about to get vaccinated but I got regular flu so doc said I need to recover first. I really hope to get vaccine, because I had “light” form of COVID and it was terrible.
Hey just a little thing from someone who plays with barbies A LOT
If you take off the elastics instead of cutting them you can use them again to style your barbie's hair or to keep the shoes on. Those Mofos are STRONG and unlike loom bands (which I used to use for hairbands for my barbies) they do not break easily. I save EVERY ONE of those elastics. Same, free elastics are the bomb
From briefly researching, it looks like about 80% of plastic in the ocean comes from land-based sources.
We, America, put the garbage in the ocean. It’s a dumping area for us. Look it up.
I thought it came from washing clothes that have micro plastics, but that can be resolved by getting a micro plastic filter.
I like the recycled boxes but wish they had articulation
For 9.99? Really?
We should start making most of our dolls out of recycled plastic! This is actually a great idea! I hope other companies do this as well.
Save those "rubber bands"! They're long lasting and so useful for posing your dolls holding stuff, or fastening her to props, holding shoes on, etc.
ive been loving seeing entirely cardboard packaging and the creative ways they present the dolls like the new disney store ones. theyre much more colorful and cute to keep! i hope these become more and more common among dolls uwu

I much prefer these to the Barbie Color Reveal dolls. The concept is good.
I think they're still called pigtails with/without braids. Like there are high and low pigtails.
I called them pig tails with just ponytails
I'm a grown woman and I love Come Play With Me as it reminds me of being a kid!
I love this channel for the same reason!

"no earrings, which is Fine." me every time i open a fashionista lmao
14:46 idk I’ve always called that pigtails and I usually called the braided ones double braids
I really hope Mattel decides to switch to recycled material for the main Barbie line.
I love the recycles plastic, the cardboard packaging, the reusable pouches. this all the way ❤

I made dolls out of anything and I had barbie....
So cool, I never thought of that, Barbie is coming back (somehow at least)
I know I'm so happy she has started to return like this it really makes me feel good that I chose to collect Barbie 😊
You look so beautiful! Your skin is glowing! Love these dolls!
Mattel stated online that all barbies are going to be made from recycled plastic by 2030.
🤣 I was just lookin at my thighs and body hair when I saw this video pop up 🤣
Melissa must share her 40’s vibe bathing suit with us 🙌🏻

this cause for save the ocean is so beautiful
Meanwhile MGA wiping out the planet with all that packaging.
But of course Mattel only saving the planet because it lowers their production cost.
That's amazing!
How to articulate this doll the black one
You are so right about the body thing... People don't care about our body and we should not stop living because of body shame...
Love this!!
Night at the Roxbury! 😂😂😂😂😂
You’re the best!
The new dolls look awesome! Definitely going to get them.
I freaked out when she mentioned Gorillaz 😄
That’s probably because Kaiden likes Gorillaz
I see her in an executive dark power suit. That could be just me the curvy stripes beach doll with pigtails!
I love your energy in this one!! The whole bottle of wine is relatable girl🤣
I would love for this to be more of a thing. Maybe giving the dolls something a bit more fashionable to wear and more articulation. (minus Bobble-head)
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS.
Dolls so cute for recycled dolls
Might be a bit late - but that shirt colour looks amazing on you - just wanted you to know
If they had more articulation Id concider them perfect cuz I just love articulated dolls

The Barbie Barbie looks like h20 Bella as doll😊😊😊😊💥💥💥💥

Love how they are recycling.

i did order the 2nd doll prior seeing this video shes so pretty i couldnt resist once i stumbled upon her.
I love these dolls had to get them all

$7.94 at Wal-Mart!
