My theory about why Meta Knight destroyed the halberd is... The Meta Knight there was actually Dark Meta Knight from Amazing Mirror. Knowing Dark was gonna try and conquer Dreamland, he went after the ship, not knowing Kirby was there as well. Dark Meta Knight manage to escape after Kirby escaped. That's why you couldn't battle him.
