Can Alex Orji only operate from a scripted offense? The O does WAY better at beginning of games... even more evident the last 2 weeks with Orji as QB1, but can do nothing after half time. Against Minnesota, Orji’s stats were 10/18, 86 yds, 1 TD and 1 INT passing, while adding 12 yards rushing.

Yes. This is 100% correct. The defense is out there way too much. Maybe cycling them out a little more would help but the defense will get tired. Especially the big guys. The corners and safeties are able to tolerate it slightly more but as a defensive lineman. You are pushing and shoving and sprinting and it depletes you so quickly.

Sad that everybody wants to point the finger at Orji. The *REAL* problem is the coaching. 2nd half defense is dreadful. Offensive play calling is absolute predictable garbage.
Theres a bunch of new coaches trying to work with each other, and the players. They're trying to force Orji as a passer, and not have him run. Reminds me of Hoke with Robinson.
Take notes from Michigan's old quarterback Nick Sheridan who is the offensive coordinator for Alabama. That's been brought up a few times by other coaches. Milroe isn't a great passer, but they have coaches who know how to utilize his talent. That's what they need to do with Alex. They should also implement some form of triple option to open up the run game, and a run pass option. Alex as QB, Mullings as 1st RB, Edwards or Cabana as an outside pitch back. Max Bredeson as a blocker, and great running FB. This is a *RUSHING* team!. Utilize it.
They've got Loveland, and Klein's looking to be good. Spread out the defense. Run some options, RPO, short passing game. That alone will keep the defense I'm guessing, and open up the opportunity for more plays. They also have Denegal as a QB who can throw, and is also mobile. Not as mobile as Alex, but they can run a two QB system, or if Alex gets hurt.
Agree with most of that, but Milroe is exceptionally fast and can throw a little bit

@@WORM1420 Alex is quick as well, and we haven't seen him throw too much. He's got to develop in the same situation, but can develop when they're calling horrible plays for this kid.

I think this is an awful coaching staff, they players are not being set up for success. Kirk Campbell seems lost calling plays, he needs to be stripped of those duties and Sherrone needs to take over.
I, in part agree.... Campbell is a particular problem and needs to be handled soon - He was the reason why they started Warren over Orji, he's the reason why the playbook is weak because they chose a pocket passer because he was a QB coach, and therefore dealing with pocket passers predominantly would be the reason why he would not have a playbook at all, let alone (saying) he did... wouldn't have run plays in; that alone was a mistake of Sherrone Moore's - a mistake that needs to be corrected.
This is a backwards retraceable quandary. Because of the choice for coach was the. Reason why o*** didn't get a number of snaps during the off-season? This is their problem. He lacked experience and confidence because of the decision they made malvie. Have to just keep the squad they have together, because they work and they do have a squad...
Like last year's they become confident together, leave them alone. I say and let them play together and gain that experience
Problem is coaching in second half. It is the Brady Home era all over again. With Hoke, if the game tied or Mich was behind, it was a guaranteed loss. Coaches cannot make adjustments.
Gotta love fans that think the sky is falling after a 4-1 record and after losing 13 players to the draft, including a Top 10 QB. Now there is calls for Sherrone's job...the same guy that served as Head Coach, OC, and O Line Coach against Ohio...and won. I honestly see why everyone hates us Michigan fans.

Moore's biggest downfall was not getting a QB in portal. none of our QB's are new, we knew what we had. Orji got the most pt last year and didn't even attempt a pass. That says it all. Minn had a FCS guy for goodness' sake, we would be find with that guy.

It wasn’t his team until the spring portal and there wasn’t much QB talent there. Shit happens, it’s a letdown after the best season we have ever had, and we still will have at least 8 wins with half the staff being new. Give him 5 years to build it his way instead of the shadow of last year. We’re fine.

Michigan fan here. Jaden Davis will transfer from Michigan. I'm guessing bama Georgia or LSU. This is the worst coaching staff I've seen in 54 years of watching Michigan football.
Dick Rod's staff was MUCH worse, trying to turn a run dominant roster into a spread offense team (with Ryan Mallett who is FAR from a mobile QB and ended up transferring).

He is the worst Div 1 QB ever. There is no one in the MAC that is worse than O. This is a joke and they are lucky to beat USC and Minn. Do him a favor and play him at WR where he can make a difference and go to the next level. He has zero chance of being a NFL qb.

Wink sucks and I can’t way to see the day he gets fired the offense I don’t even care anymore just win the game idc how we do it we knew to expect this with a brand new 10 starters but the defense is unacceptable I’ve never seen a coach come out after being up at halftime and run a total different play calling for the worst not the better it’s mind blowing he blitzes more in the 2nd half he leaves our guys stranded and that’s why teams light us up but win by 3 or win by 50 I’m just happy to have them with this team GO BLUE

Our defense feels like Don Browns back again... old and lame. Then, at halftime our opponent figures our offense out and we lose our lead....UNACCEPTABLE

There are so shut down defenses in college, the offense has to give these guys a break. If a team has a good QB they will eventually score.

I think we will see Tuttle and Davis at QB before the season ends. Big game Donovan Edwards will have his moments still to come but the team overall, mostly the coaching, has too many holes here and there. Defense is a bit overrated. Not a shut down defense when it counts and coaching I’m sure is a factor in the defensive struggles.

I've been saying it all year long. Alex orgy is not a quarterback, he's an athlete. This coaching staff should have stuck with Davis Warren. Right now you have two more games under his belt and a lot less problems.

Every team we play is able to put up passing yards. We are not. I find it hard to believe that Orji is a worse QB than the QBs of the teams we have played. Am I wrong?

I think the entire “take care of the ball” message is starting to backfire. A QB needs to be able to throw passes and feel confident. If he feels overwhelmed and not confident in himself, he will hesitate to make the throws that a QB must make.
Basically, playing too conservatively is hurting the offenses mentality.

Davis Warren sucks, the team only runs better because Orji is playing even though his throwing isn't as good. Warren just threw the ball to 1st read and to other teams players. Throwing off back foot scared to take a hit. Davis Warren is not a good quarterback at all. 6 INTs in 3 games vs 2 unranked teams.
Much tougher schedule than people anticipated even 12 months ago. If we go 9-3 it will be a very good year. 10-2 would be the best coaching job I've seen in my lifetime. 8-4 will be acceptable just a little disappointing.

Being as neutral as I can be, Michigan still has the base of a contender. The QB situation is really what’s holding you back. The defense is what you want them to be but they’re on the field for too long.

@TedSzweb-jq1il yes, because they would have been more focused being on the road. I think michigan is going to beat washington, michigan state and northwestern and end up 7 and 5. If they beat any of the other fourteens, it'll be a bonus. And if I was michigan at the end of the year, I would go out and get the coach of indiana and sign him to a massive contract. Everywhere he goes he wins. Somebody will come after him this year, if not, next year for sure. He's only gonna be in indiana this year or next year and then he's gone.

You maybe right on your record prediction, but Michigan has been saved from not having a worse record because they have played all there games at home. Your prediction model even suggests this.
@TedSzweb-jq1il either way, changes need to be made at the end of the year, if they don't get rid of the coach, they need to get a new offensive and defensive coordinator and give the head coach one more year. Also the athletic director needs to go.
Should have stuck it out with Warren and if there was no improvement up to this point then make a change. Warren hasn’t played in 2 weeks and has almost 4x the passing yards and 2x total yards.

It’s not just Wink, it’s the lack of depth on defense. Starters are gassed in the 4th quarter.
Doesn't help that the offense doesn't move the ball. No offense means punts & the defense is carrying the team. Sometimes the offense turns the ball over in their own end of the field meaning a short field for the opposing offense.

I predicted 4 loses before the year and was mocked. They lost all their starters and didn't have a reliable QB. It was obvious!
Tuttle needs to play. He has the experience and can throw the ball over 10 yards that would make everyone’s defense play for the pass.
Terrible pass protection is not being talked about enough by analysts. This is Hoke era bad pass blocking, meaning non existent.
