Catching up on old drafts, but one thing I really appreciate about your videos is that you upload both the extreme bangers where you can't lose and the complete disasters where everything goes wrong I feel like sometimes content creators just hide those ones
It's somewhat reassuring to watch a player as good as Luis getting crushed by top decks and other such things. It means it's not just because I'm bad at the game!
I feel like lurrus is a lot more fun than it is actually good in cube or at the very least its quite hard to actually end up with a very good lurrus deck
It's not that Lurrus isn't good, it's just not good in midrange. It's good in control. You run your opponent out of resources while using Lurrus as an engine to not run out yourself. Counterspell, Force, etc are needed to keep from getting ran over. Lurrus's main weakness is It's easy to go over top of it. When I saw there was no force, no counters, no thought-seize, I knew it was gonna be a rough one lol. Not that the draft was bad. He really only missed out on Palace Jailer as a premium card by playing Lurrus, he was just in a tough seat.
I’m not just saying this because of Martel’s comment, I think Lurrus tends to fail when you’re beside someone who intends to cut you, and my inclination was that Martel would try to do so. Sometimes I think that hiding seating would be better.
@@Marksmaan nah he could have had a sick big red artifacts deck with bonehoard, headliner scarlett, leila/tinker, he got blinded by the lurrus as usual lol
I wish they kept stats for their cube, I think it would show what a lot of comments are saying regarding these high recursion low impact decks. Something like what archetype they’re playing, what they’d rate the deck out of 10, and their match and game results. Would be kind of cool, imo.
Hello, mid level player here, hope someone can answer a question for me that doesn't get adressed in the vid: around 25:00, Tom doesn't fire off the Forth, and LSV seems to not find anything strange about that. Me, i think i would slam a X=5 Forth at that point over the Preacher, but the vibe of the video tells me that that wouldnt be great, so what am I missing? Come on guys, I know there's someone here who would enjoy enlightening me 😊😊😊 thanks in advance!
LSV mentions shortly before that he's holding up blue mana to bluff Miscalculation/ Memory Lapse etc. Tom takes a while so he's probably running through the lines. Since Forth for x=5 isn't lethal he probably hedges against a counter spell by making three decent plays (Preacher, Recruiter, equip Skullclamp) instead of one big play. Even if LSV has a counter spell Tom still gets to make 2 out of 3 of those plays (or something else). Tom might also be considering something like Malcolm which can flash in and steal the Monarchy.
Could you have accursed mauradered your conntainment priest and just taken the Forth Eolingus with the Bat? Love the puzzle that MTG is, I've never played a better one
I think he mentioned he valued getting Skullclamp off the field as his reason for not doing it. Still think it's worth doing since Containment Preist was gone so it would've meant Flicker couldn't take out Bat without doing it on the same turn, knocking 3 2/2s out. But clamp is scary.
If a good Lurrus deck is an 0-3 deck, maybe it either needs more support or is too limiting as a companion a lot of the time, since so many of the best cards are permanents over 2 mana value. if you have black lotus it's sweet but black lotus is sweet in a lot of decks. instant and sorcery top end could round out the archetype but leaning to heavily on spell top end is not exactly the spirit of the archetype
Lurrus bad Okay but seriously this deck got screwed by not seeing any counters. You just had no good answer to stuff like Forth Eorlingas. It also seems that, as vintage cube becomes increasingly focused on sticking bombs, decks like Lurrus that try to gain incremental value over time become worse. Looking back on the draft, I don’t think there’s anything you could have done differently, it was just unfortunate that the first pack was a really good start for a Lurrus deck and the later packs were pretty terrible.
(Narrator voice) Martell was cutting him on Lurrus stuff…
What a game 1 though!
I'm picturing this in a Morgan Freeman voice
@@justaguy5761good for you
LSV, as Principal Skinner: Are my Lurrus decks out of touch? . . . No, Accursed Marauder is out of touch.

Perhaps the most brutal Fire Covenant I have seen on this channel.
Awesome as always, thanks Luis
Bummed we lost the first few picks and didn’t get to see Luis try to justify taking Academy instead of Mox
some of the baddest beats I have seen in a while.
Anyone else hear "flashback lingering souls" in Remy's voice?
Always, every time, without fail.
go to combat?
Spoilers
Lurrus haters eating like kings today 🤣🤣
The spoiler tag is awesome, everybody do this please!
This is my Bloomburrow preview.
*sees Lurrus in opening pile*
*resigns self to 0-3*
0:00 in and this looks sick!
Like all medicine, sometimes being Lurruspilled has side effects

We could still be bad at the game lol

''You don't get to see me lose anymore.'' That's a bold statement LSV
Opponents just wrecked LSV gameplay.
Resto on Fury at 53:16 made my day. Thanks LSV
Lurrus OMEGALUL
Video starts and he already has Lurrus and a mox? Sus, very sus.
The Lurus Curse continues! Also, how good is Fire Covenant?

@@zefiend thank you 👍😊 I did not even catch that, seems my brain does not handle that load well (yet? Maybe)

Thank you for the cube!
Ah yes, 3 things that have historically gone together in classic fashion for years.
Tolarian Academy z-snapping at this performance.
Sheesh Gut is such a beating, random uncommon goblin from Baldur's Gate better than Ragavan.
I drafted the thumbnail in area cube and it was SWEET
To Vintage Worlds!
Gaby got me with this clickbait title, i thought for sure this was a bloomburrow draft hahaha
at 26:30 why did we not go marauder, sacing bat, play Lurrius, recast bat to take the fourth year?

Value Lurrus (not companion, just in the 40) has been better in my experience. You're leaving too much behind as companion.
53:40 was he not dead to judgement the portable hole level up hexdrinker, get teferi bounced, recast hexdrinker and level max next turn
big teferi bounces it into oblivion
was the team able to salvage for you? thanks for posting even the losing ones
LSV "dropped the mic"
26:12 maybe sac the bat to the marauder there? That way you give back the flickerwisp and go Lurrus>replay bat>take forth? Idk maybe that’s too dank
Lurrus feels like hard bait in cube. I've not been impressed by any draft where it's companion'ed despite it being so busted
i like this tamio you can shut down that damn ozelot cat
12:22 Drafts entire deck around Lurrus
LSV: "Cut the Lurrus"
👁👃👁
do you know what companion does
I think BK couldn’t have saved this draft

that’s me, it’s not, i work in restaurants so “broccoli rabe”
